Guillemots NEW “Falling Out of Reach” video starring Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf!)

Sir Ian McKellen – or Gandalf from Lord of the Rings as he’s known to many – is starring in Guillemots‘ new video for their single, “Falling Out of Reach”!

How cool is that?

Another cool thing is that in the Sky News video interview, there’s a short clip from Guillemots’ “Trains To Brazil” video, which I’m in (”playing” clarinet on stage). I’ve got something in common with Sir Ian McKellen – we’ve both been in Guillemots videos!

I’ve been listening to their new ‘Red’ album, and “Falling Out of Reach” is one of my favorite songs off of ‘Red’, along with “Kriss Kross” and “Big Dog” and “Get Over It” and “Last Kiss” and…well you can see where I’m going with this. The whole album is brilliant, and I’m NOT just sayin’ it because I appeared in one of their videos.

Anyway, check out the news clip below for more information about the making of the “Falling Out of Reach” video:

Update: Watch Guillemots “Falling Out Of Reach” video:

“A young relative of mine, who’s a fan of the Guillemots took me along to a concert of theirs in London and I really took to them, I really liked the music,” Sir Ian McKellen tells Sky News.

“I heard about this video for the new song, which I really like and I happen to have nothing better to do, and it’s quite near home, so I dropped in, and here I am.”

It’s not the first pop video cameo for the actor. In 1988, he starred as a vampire in the promo for Heart by the Pet Shop Boys.

‘Red’, Guillemots’ second studio album, is released by Polydor this week.

Next single “Falling Out of Reach” is scheduled for release Monday 26 May, 2008 on CD and 7″ vinyl to coincide with a nationwide tour. Check out the Guillemots tour dates!

I’m also pleased to see that Guillemots FINALLY have an official blog set up on their website, so far with regular updates by Fyfe.
