Corrigan Brothers’ Obama YouTube phenomenon + St. Patrick’s Day Parade requests!

Andrew Marr of the BBC Andrew Marr Show described it as the only Obama video that you have to see. The band breakfasted with Kevin Spacey and Richard Dreyfus after they appeared live on the Andrew Marr show in London and both legendary actors told Irelands’ Corrigan Brothers they loved the song.

As their two videos for “There’s no one as Irish as Barack Obama” approach 4 million views (almost 5.5 million if one includes cover versions) Corrigan Brothers have been inundated with requests to participate in St. Patricks’ Day parades all over the world. So far they have received 31 invites.

They have been honored too by the Hot Springs Arkansas parade who have chosen “There’s no one as Irish as Barack O’Bama” as the theme song for their parade this year. The Grand Marshall for the parade being Movie and TV star John Ratzenberger who played Cliff in the TV sitcom Cheers.

The Brothers had a wonderful time in DC playing on the parade route for President Obama and enjoyed an enthusiastic wave from him when he walked some of the route.

They also played the American Ireland fund that day and Governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley introduced them, and at the Irish American democrats ball that night saying he was in the first 25 youtube viewers of their video. He also exchanged cds with the band. Governor O’Malley has recorded with his own band O’Malley’s March. Corrigan Brothers agreed to record a duet with him later this year.

The DC trip culminated on Wednesday January 21st when the band played at the gates of the White House. Many witnesses claim to have seen President Obama singing along at the window of the White House. This performance can be seen on youtube by searching Corrigan Brothers in DC.

Corrigan Brothers who have recently received another update confirming how much President Obama loves their song have recently sent their song to many US Embassies throughout the world who wish to hear it.

The Irish connection of their President on Saint Patrick’s day. Many St Patrick’s day committees have also been in touch to request permission to use the song and in all cases it has been granted by the Brothers.

Corrigan Brothers have just completed an album for Universal Music for the April 2009 release and their new single “An Irish Man Invented Rock and Roll” comes out later this month.
