Appearing Monday, September 21, on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Living Colour return with The Chair In The Doorway, their first release in six years in stores and online today from Megaforce Records.

The NYC-based band, featuring Corey Glover, Vernon Reid, Will Calhoun and Doug Wimbish, kicked off a 65-date world tour on September 1st, and are earning early praise from the road for their powerful live shows and hard-hitting new album.

“The group has remained taut and kinetic, a rock furnace.” – Hartford Courant

“More vivid than Vivid…Living Colour sound effortless…truly vivid, diverse and barbed.” – Philadelphia Inquirer

“Living Colour’s first CD in years strikes a more personal note..onstage they are as electric as ever.” – Boston Globe

“Welcome back, Living Colour. Your music still shines bright.” – Washington Post

“From the crackling soul-funk of ‘Bless Those’ to the raging lead-off track ‘Burned Bridges,’ the psychedelic surf of ‘Out Of My Mind’ to the sinister ‘Method,’ the quartet corrals its innovative urges into a set of tightly constructed new tunes.” – Relix

“Living Colour has restored my faith in the Church of Rock” – Phillyist.com

“The Chair in the Doorway cements the band’s identity as one of the best American rock bands of the past two decades.” – MetalSucks.com

Living Colour are set to perform the record’s lead track, “Behind The Sun,” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon next Monday, September 21, 2009. Inspired by post-Katrina New Orleans, the song’s resonant lyrics hold true to Living Colour’s history of taking a firm stance against social and racial injustice.

The Chair In The Doorway was recorded at Sono Studios just outside of Prague in the Czech Republic.

Renowned producer Count (Galactic, Lyrics Born, No Doubt) was onboard to helm the sessions, while Ron St. Germain (U2, Mos Def, Muse) mixed the album.

The 11-tracks are Living Colour’s most personal collection of songs yet with razor sharp lyrical observations and kinetic jams that seamlessly weave elements of metal, funk and soul.

Vernon Reid described the album as, “an unintentional concept record about life and how we are all in this thing together.” He goes on to call the band’s storied past and present, “multi-dimensional – a unique American story about race and political activism in music and aging and we invite people to be part of that story.”
