Those Mockingbirds land at #1 on Amazon's Movers & Shakers Chart for 'No Symmetry'

Those Mockingbirds

The publicity stunt by New Jersey-based indie band Those Mockingbirds to get 50,000 downloads by kidnapping Gary Brolsma - "The Numa Numa Guy" - has ended up fueling first-week digital sales of their debut EP No Symmetry to #1 on Amazon.com's Movers and Shakers chart.

Those Mockingbirds launched their kidnapping campaign on April 1st at www.savenuma.com, demanding that the people of the internet download the band's new music in order to assure the release of Numa. And it worked. The viral videos quickly garnered tens of thousands of views while leading up to the April 20 digital release of No Symmetry.

Meanwhile, Those Mockingbirds have been delivering their musical mesh of old and new, soft and spacey, and in-your-face rock grit across the east coast and Midwest throughout the past month. The band has logged recent tour stops in New York, Chicago and Philadelphia, and are set for a May 8, 2010 return to Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ for a headlining EP release party performance. Tickets for that show are currently on sale.

No Symmetry is available from all digital retailers now. The EP will arrive in retail on June 8.
