After spending three years fronting the rising pop rock band, The Jim Ivins Band (playing with artists like Parachute, Carbon Leaf, and Carolina Liar along the way), Jim Ivins is scaling things back for his Spring solo release Late Night Drive.
The follow up to his 2007 solo debut '99¢ Dreams' takes things in a different direction, drawing a new set of influences from artists like Sufjan Stevens, Jon Foreman, and Ryan Adams.
Re-teaming with '99¢ Dreams' producer Steve Barber, Ivins set out to capture the spirit of winter, compiling a cohesive group of stripped-down songs that conjure images of snow-covered landscapes and driving in the dark.
While it may be a cliché to call this Ivins' "mature" record, Late Night Drive sees Ivins step his lyrical game up, touching on a more diverse set of topics, from self-reflection ("Late Night Drive"), to fear of the unknown ("Riptides"), to the tragic 2010 death of his mother ("House of Three").
Late Night Drive will be available March 22, 2011 on iTunes and Amazon.com.
