Rocketeer - "Cupid" single [Stream Track]

Rocketeer release their new single "Cupid" on February 27th via The Animal Farm.

The single will be the first offering from their forthcoming debut album to be released later in 2012.

"Cupid" is a change of direction lyrically for Rocketeer as they move away from the fantastical elements of previous singles. The song tells the story of a girl's series of disastrous romantic encounters with the opposite sex.

Musically the track is stripped back allowing the lyrics to take centre stage, as the female in question staggers through romantic life and ends up alone in a cold, half-empty bed.

Rocketeer are made up of two brothers, two cousins and one wild card. Hailing from the West Country, all are classically trained musicians; this is reflected in their arrangements and intelligent use of harmony and structure.

They have come a long way since their formation in 2007, playing the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury, the Great Escape and have picked up support from Steve Lamacq (Radio 2), Tom Robinson (6Music), NME.com and Music Week.

In October 2011 they were invited to play the Sunday Night Sessions on BBC London 94.9 for Jo Good. The 4 track set and interview was a huge success, with both those in the studio and people at home commenting extremely positively on the musicianship, personality and lyrical content of the songs.

"Cupid" is the first single to be taken from their debut album which is due for release Spring 2012. There will be a series of singles in support of the album as well as London gigs and a tour.
