Feist and Mastodon have released a digital version of their 7" vinyl single "A Commotion" / "Black Tongue" via Cherrytree/Interscope and Warner Brothers Records.
The "Feistodon" split-single was one of the most in-demand exclusives during Record Store Day this past April. It features Feist's cover of Mastodon's "Black Tongue" and them returning the favor with a cover of Feist's "A Commotion" from 2011's Metals. Only 5000 color vinyl 7" singles were pressed up and sold out instantly.
A "Feistodon" music video, directed by Vice Cooler, has also premiered. The video is launched by an HTML5 "Feistodon" video app that allows users to crossfade between Feist and Mastodon's versions of "A Commotion" allowing users to make their own unique versions. The interactive version is on Feist and Mastodon's official websites.
A Commotion video:
Feist is about to embark on a European tour, concluding her touring cycle of Metals (Cherrytree/Interscope). Metals ended 2011 on top of many 'Best of 2011' lists including Pitchfork, Spin, Rolling Stone and was chosen as the #1 Album of 2011 in the New York Times.
