Ryder Crowned Vh1's "You Oughta Know" Artist For June And Nabs MuchMusic Video Award For Rock/Alternative Video of the Year 2013 for "Stompa"
Serena Ryder's debut single "Stompa," from the forthcoming Harmony (Capitol Records), is sizzling, entering its eighth straight week at the #1 spot on the AAA chart, which she will perform on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on July 17, 2013. This will mark Ryder's U.S. late night television debut.
Meanwhile, VH1 has crowned Ryder their "You Oughta Know" artist for the month of June, where she will join in the ranks of previously featured artists such as Mumford & Sons, Allen Stone and Adele.
"Stompa," has been one of the fastest rising singles of Ryder's career.
"It's about how magic music is," the singer-songwriter says of the song. NY Times revealed, "Her raw-throated vocals and passion are what first caught my ear." Last weekend, the runaway debut track won for Rock/Alternative Video of the Year 2013 at the MuchMusic Video Awards where Ryder also performed that song as well as "What I Wouldn't Do."
Additionally, "Stompa" is currently featured as the backdrop for the new Cadillac SRX commercial, giving an edge to the already smooth line of cars. Already a four-time Juno Award winner, this current song has also been nominated for an FMQB Triple A Conference Award for "Song of the Year."
