Shiny Darkly Announce Debut LP (14/01/14) + Unveil 9.4-minute Single Dead Stars

Epic new single “Dead Stars” streaming now / to be released on ltd. 12″ vinyl Nov 11th

Busy schedule of shows at Iceland Airwaves announced

LP ‘Little Earth’ to be released January 14th 2014

Shiny Darkly are a young rock ‘n’ roll trio from Copenhagen, Denmark.

Their music evokes not just the classic sound of bands like Joy Division, Suicide and The Jesus & Mary Chain, but also the modern gothic of bands like Horrors, BRMC and Savages. With a rare intensity in the laconic vocal delivery of Kristoffer Bech, and a swirling, piercing guitar sound, their electric racket stands out as something very special.

Their preternaturally full-formed debut EP came out last year on 12″ vinyl and digital formats, and saw them quickly gather devoted cult audiences both in Denmark and in the UK, which holds a special place in the band’s heart. They visited London several times for packed out shows at Disorder, Crunchy Club, and The Old Blue Last, picking up praise from Xfm’s John Kennedy, as well as a Resonance FM radio session and coverage from Clash, Artrocker, The Line Of Best Fit and a host of blogs and websites.

Their debut LP, ‘Little Earth’, was recently completed. “We have been busy this late summer and fall recording,” says Bech. “We went to these two great studios in Malmö – Gula Studion and Tambourine Studios – and had some good and intense days there. After the recordings, we went to Berlin to mix the record at Kaiku Studios, who’ve done work with bands like Moon Duo and The Handsome Furs.”

“Dead Stars” is the first cut to be available from the sessions, recently premiering on Clash and The Reykjavík Grapevine. A 9.4 minute opus, it climaxes with a searing two-minute burst of noise. Hardly a traditional radio single, but indicative of the spine-tingling quality Shiny Darkly possess. It will be released on a limited edition 12″, accompanied by two non-album tracks from the “Little Earth” sessions, on November 11, 2013.

As the label say: “Shiny Darkly create a crackling, high-voltage, narcotic universe you’ll never want to leave.”

“The gloom and psych of The Doors and Velvet Underground, the modern gothic of The Horrors, and the rock and roll intensity of The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Stooges and The Black Angels… Copenhagen’s best new band.” – The Line Of Best Fit

“‘Dead Stars’ displays more than a touch of Krautrock’s more deviant side, with the vocals soaring into Horrors territory. Yet there’s also plenty of Shiny Darkly’s trademark dirty psychedelia, with the track soaring off into the outer reaches of the consciousness.” – Clash
