Undoubtedly, Compass is his most eclectic album yet. Songs shift, chop, change and mutate genres and forms before our very ears. It's got funk in spades; the jaw-dropping power of the vocals is stronger than ever; it rocks, it pops, it's sweet, angry, hard, soulful and soft, often within the span of a single track. It's the restless album that finally matches the soul of its creator.

Sessions began at Beck's Hudson Studios in Los Angeles, where he gathered Jamie together with Wilco, Leslie Feist and veteran drummer James Gadson (who's hit sticks for Bill Withers, Quincy Jones among many others) for Beck's Record Club project (where a group of musicians cover an album in a day).

Inspired by the chemistry of those jams, they shifted to the legendary Ocean Way Studios. There, they were joined by producer/keyboardist Brian Lebarton, singer Nikka Costa, and Justin Stanley. All would have an important impact on the album.

Pat Sansone from Wilco and Chilly Gonzales (who's played on both Multiply and Jim) were present as "musical meta-spirits", recording their parts remotely and delivering them via the internet. As Jamie says of this formidable line-up of brilliant collaborators, "You don't f**k with them!"

Back in New York he began to make sense of this "great big mess on the hard drive." Then it was up to Feist's ranch the Niagara Escarpment, Canada with Chris Taylor, producer and member of Brooklyn avant-pop sensations Grizzly Bear.

"I wrote every song in a month," Jamie says, "It's been an emotional couple of years, so I tapped into what I wanted to say and started writing. There was a lot to draw on."

When he takes to the road in 2010, he'll be bringing a band again, but stripping it back; keeping it lean. For both newcomers and initiates, this will be an experience. And no, he won't stop.

"All You Need Is Me" is among a handful of new songs to have graced Morrissey's set list over shows in recent months and was performed earlier this year on Later With Jools Holland along-side "Something Is Squeezing My Skull", "That's How People Grow Up" and the classic "The Last Of The Famous International Playboys".

The "All You Need Is Me" single formats will feature new songs as exclusive b-sides.

"My Dearest Love" and "Children In Pieces" were recorded in LA with multi-award winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla who has won Oscars for his scores for the films Brokeback Mountain and Babel and Baftas for his scores for Babel and The Motorcycle Diaries. They feature additional production and were mixed by Jerry Finn, producer of 2004's widely acclaimed 'You Are The Quarry' (a #2 album in the UK).

A third b-side, a cover of David Bowie's "Drive-in Saturday" recorded live at the Orpheum Theatre in Omaha, Nebraska in May 2007, completes the set.

Finn has also produced the 'A' side "All You Need Is Me" and is currently finishing production of Morrissey's new studio album, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2006's #1 'Ringleader Of The Tormentors' which is due for an Autumn 2008 release. 'Greatest Hits', spanning Morrissey's 20 year solo career, is out now on Decca/Polydor and features 9 top 10 singles amongst its 15 tracks.

Beck's major label debut, 'Mellow Gold' introduced him to the world in 1994 but it was 1996's 'Odelay' that became a bellwether for the alternative rock movement.

Now, a dozen years after its original release, 'Odelay' has been expanded into a two-CD Deluxe Edition with the addition of two never-before-released tracks from the original sessions, a soundtrack contribution, and 16 b-sides and compilation tracks never-before-released.

'Odelay - Deluxe Edition' is set for UK release 24th March, 2008 by Universal Music Catalogue.

Hear Music and ie:music, the artist management company representing the recording artist Sia (nee Sia Furler), have announced that Sia's new full-length CD, 'some people have REAL problems' will be co-released in the U.S. and Canada on Monkey Puzzle Records/Hear Music. The album will be available at Starbucks Company-operated locations and traditional music retailers in the U.S. and Canada starting on January 8, 2008.

With two major label solo albums already under her belt, Sia has enjoyed worldwide success and recognition both as a solo artist and as the vocalist for Zero 7 ("Simple Things", "When It Falls" and "The Garden"), Sia made her first U.S. splash as a solo artist when her song "Breathe Me" was featured in the final episode of the HBO cable television series Six Feet Under in late 2005, and which shot to #1 on iTunes the following day. Since then Sia has continued to gain critical acclaim and a growing fan base, touring this past month to sold-out shows across the U.S. in anticipation of her new release.

The new music on 'some people have REAL problems' is at once upbeat, quirky, and achingly gorgeous, featuring incredible song writing and lush arrangements. Sia also enlisted the help of a few talented friends when recording the album, including Beck, who sings on a track called "Academia."

The video for standout track "Buttons" which is featured as a hidden track on 'some people have REAL problems', has already garnered Sia a bit of attention after being posted by blogger Perez Hilton. The video has taken off virally, charting as the #1 most linked and #2 most viewed clip on YouTube the week it was leaked onto the Internet.

The co-release with Hear Music insures wide distribution for Sia's CD in North America beginning January 8, 2008, including simultaneous release through Starbucks company-operated locations in the U.S. and Canada and all other physical and digital music retailers in North America.

As a preview to 'some people have REAL problems', Sia recently released a 4-song digital EP on November 6 previewing tracks from the CD, including the first single, "Day Too Soon." The song was also made available as a free download to more than 1.5 million customers via Starbucks locations in the U.S. on November 6 as part of the company's "Song of the Day" campaign.
