Soundtracks! – The Best Movies Ever…without the talky bits! The first and third Saturday of EVERY month.

The Monarch – Camden Town, London

November Dates: 07/11/09 and 21/11/09

Time: 7.30pm till 1:30am

Do you remember when you first saw that pack of brats pegging it round the halls in The Breakfast Club?

Remember when Tom Cruise danced in his underwear in Risky Business and made briefs sexy – briefly

How about when young Leo, unsurprisingly, got all wet with the gorgeous Virginie Ledoyen in The Beach

Or when Patrick Swayze pulled Baby out of the corner?

What about when Danny Laruso started kicking some ass in Karate Kid?!

Remember when the Goonies tied Josh Brolin to that chair and cycled off in search of a pirate ship?

What about when Mr Blue, Pink, Brown, Orange, White and Blonde stepped out of their cadillacs?

Speaking of colours – you’ve got to remember The Blues Brothers?

Now…stop thinking of the music!

You can’t can you. Of course you can’t. Because behind every great movie is a great soundtrack and an ultimate music moment that will forever be etched in our brains.

So we have stolen our fathers car, rounded up the brat pack and are heading towards Beaumont at a steady speed of 88mph to reap some dancing havock upon the home of John Lithgow. And we are making sure that NOBODY is left in the corner!

Taking place on the first and third Saturday of every month at The Monarch in Camden, SOUNDTRACKS! is London’s fastest growing new club night. The SOUNDTRACKS DJ’s spin their way through the finest movie tunes ever.

Come jive to Dirty Dancing, Ferris Bueller, Pulp Fiction, Grease, Pretty In Pink, Lock Stock, St Elmo’s Fire, The Commitments, Superfly, Top Gun and all their many many friends.

Featuring in order of appearance -

- Soundtracks DJs
- The best songs ever from the finest movies beamed to screen
- Dirty Dance Offs
- Drinking
- Free popcorn
- And introducing more general all out tomfoolery

From the makers of Hugs and Smiles.

Written and directed by Soundtracks DJ’s

Now lets try this again…

Remember when Ferris Bueller storms the parade and does the best karaoke “Twist and Shout” ever?

What about when Michael J Fox is surfing through Beacontown on the Wolfmobile while Stiles blares out “Surfin USA”?

You know when Nicholas Cage sings “So Happy Together” to Nicholas Cage in Adaptation?

How about when Martin Blank sits outside the radio shack listening to Debi play The Clash in Grosse Point Blank?

Or when Kevin Bacon defies everyone and cuts loose, Footloose!

Remember the band playing in the background of the bar in Coyote Ugly? Probably not…afterall, it was The Calling.

Cage The Elephant (average age of 20) are a five piece from Bowling Green, Kentucky who are set to win hearts and minds in the UK in 2008 as they bring their incendiary live show back to the UK.

Like Beck’s anti-hero anthem “Loser”, Cage The Elephant’s first single “In One Ear” is a tounge-in cheek riposte to any possible doubters: “They say the devil is my pal / I do a lot of drugs / The crowd will only like me if they’re really f*@k!ing drunk”. Ushered in by a bass line of Herclean proportions, it soon becomes apparent Cage The Elephant don’t just want to rock hard, they want to make people dance.

Onstage fights and broken amps being hurled into the audience are just some of the elements likely to occur at a Cage the Elephant show. Most importantly, the staple of all of their live performances is brilliant rock ‘n’ roll music: as thrillingly aggressive as the Stooges and as anthemic and raw as the Kings of Leon’s first LP, coupled with the groove of Rage Against The Machine, this is a band that will remind you why you fell in love with rock ‘n’ roll.

Led by brothers Matt and Brad Shultz, the band create a real sense of drama, tension and heart-in-mouth thrills with their onstage love-hate relationship. A recent show saw lead singer Matt compliment his brother by launching him across the stage, face first, into the front row barrier: Brad returned the favour with an equally affectionate gobful of spit to his brother’s face.

The band are one of the buzz acts in the US going into 2008. This is off the back of their explosive performance at Lollapalooza last summer and some riotous gigs during main tour supports with Queens of the Stone Age and Wolfmother. On the QotSA North American tour last year, Cage won over many of the Queens’ fans and struck up a strong rapport with the band during their time together on the road.

Cage The Elephant then came across the pond to support Foals, The Ravonettes and Wombats on their respective UK Autumn / Winter tours. Some legendary nights were had and friendships struck as Cage proceeded to tear up venues and win many new friends up and down the country.

Lock up your daughters: Cage The Elephant are coming to town…

Upcoming show: NME Show with 9 Black Alps – Koko, Camden, London – Friday 8th February, London

More UK live dates to be announced shortly.

Their proper first single “In One Ear” is set for release March 10th, 2008 on Relentless / DSP. Format: CD single / 7″ vinyl / digital download (download release: March 2nd).

“Who needs indie whimsy when you’ve got scorched-earth desert punk as venomous as this?” – NME

Cage The Elephant are: Matt Shultz – Vocals; Brad Shultz – Guitar; Jared Champion – Drums & Percussion; Daniel Tichenor – Bass/Vocals; Lincoln Parish – Lead Guitar

The BBC has revealed the first of more than 80 artists who will be performing at the 2007 Electric Proms, a five-day festival featuring music and film taking place in Camden, London.

Confirmed for this year’s five day festival are Mark Ronson and Kaiser Chiefs both of whom will be staging unique collaborative performances for the crowds at The Roundhouse in Camden and for those watching and listening on the BBC.

Taking place from October 24th to 28th 2007, BBC Electric Proms is specifically designed to create new moments in music. Each performance seeks to create something different. It may feature collaborations between new and established acts or new material performed for the first time. Whatever the artists decide, audiences are guaranteed to see and hear something truly memorable.

Mark Ronson and guests with the BBC Concert Orchestra

Mark Ronson will be performing reworked tracks from his hugely successful album ‘Version’ featuring very special guests including Lily Allen, Terry Hall, Santo Gold, Candie Payne and Tim Burgess.

Further artists and performances will be announced in the next week. The festival can be viewed and watched via a number of different platforms on the BBC:

Radio – There will be live and recorded broadcasts from all areas of the festival on BBC Radio 1, 2, 3, 1Xtra, 6Music, The Asian Network and World Service.

TV – Highlights from this year’s Electric Proms will be screened on BBC Two with additional performances available to Freeview, satellite and cable customers via their red button interactive service.

Online – Complete performances will be available to watch for a week after the festival along with photos and interviews at bbc.co.uk/electricproms

Full listings information will be available on the Electric Proms website shortly.

Festival Director Lorna Clarke said, “I am delighted that the first artists on this year’s line up have embraced the central challenge of the Electric Proms – to create new moments in music. I know that they will give our broadcast audiences across the country something truly special.”

There will be further additions to the line up revealed on 10th September and tickets will be on sale from midday 12th September 2007.
