Alternative rock band They Might Be Giants are proud to announce the release of a brand new kids CD and full length animated DVD, ‘Here Comes Science’, the follow up to this years Grammy Award winning Best Children’s Album ‘Here Comes the 123s’.

The 2-disc set will be available as exclusives physically on Amazon and digitally on iTunes September 1, 2009, full-scale release September 22nd on Idlewild/Disney Sound.

Buy Music:

They Might Be Giants on amazon.com

John Flansburgh and John Linnell have put their heads together once again to create engaging and educational tunes, this time for older kids!

Though this release is geared towards post-toddlers, like most They Might Be Giants family releases, adults won’t be surprised when they catch themselves popping these songs into their own iPod.

Packed with TMBG’s signature melodies and highly energized arrangements, ‘Here Comes Science’ examines a wide array of scientific ideas. Titles include “Photosynthesis,” “Meet the Elements” and the fully rocking “I Am a Paleontologist”.

THE STORY OF TMBG’s MUSIC FOR KIDS
Brooklyn’s international rock legends entered the world of kids’ stuff in 2002 with their self-styled kids album No! The project was immediately met with audience and critical raves, quickly becoming an unexpected commercial success. They followed up that effort with a collaboration with fine artist Marcel Dzama on the CD & picture book Bed, Bed, Bed (Simon and Schuster), and then joined forces with Walt Disney Records for the album and DVD Here Come the ABCs.

TMBG is already a familiar sound in many kids’ daily routines. Most recently they reached out to Little League baseball teams offering rock & roll sponsorship to teams across America!

The band has created many original themes for television including Higglytown Heroes, The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, The Oblongs, PBS Kids Share-A-Story, along with their GRAMMY-winning theme “Boss of Me” for Malcolm In the Middle. They have also appeared on Blue’s Clues and Home Movies.

AND HERE COMES THE TMBG VIDEO PODCAST!
Every song on ‘Here Comes Science’ comes with a video! TMBG will be adding new videos to their popular “They Might Be Giants Family Video Podcast” in August 2009, which can be found on iTunes.

A new song with video will be featured every week – the perfect destination for families looking to share a musical moment together right before bedtime.

B is for Bob, a collection of Bob Marley’s most beloved songs re-imagined for kids, debuts at #1 on Billboard’s Top Kid Audio and Reggae Albums Charts and #77 on the Top 200 following its June 23 release on UMe/ Island/ Tuff Gong.

While his music has been cherished by families for years, this is the first time a Bob Marley record has appeared on the kids’ music chart.

As Island Records celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and Legend reaches 10 million sold in the Soundscan era, the strength of Marley’s music remains a potent force for listeners of all ages.

Buy Music:

B Is for Bob on amazon.com

Eldest son and four-time Grammy winner Ziggy Marley executive produced the album. Mike Davis, Executive Vice President/General Manager of UMe, says “Ziggy’s touch to his father’s masters are truly special and we’re excited about the opportunity it provides to expose a younger generation to the amazing music of Bob Marley.”

Bob Marley’s music is known around the world for its powerful political and spiritual message that touches people of all ages. With children in mind, Ziggy has transformed some of his father’s songs for B is for Bob.

In eight of the tracks, including “Three Little Birds,” “Redemption Song,” “Bend Down Low,” “Jamming,” “Small Axe,” “Satisfy My Soul,” “Stir It Up” and “High Tide or Low Tide,” certain instruments were removed while others were added, creating a feeling of hearing these songs for the very first time.

Meanwhile, four of Bob Marley’s other masterpieces are left untouched: “Could You Be Loved,” “One Love/People Get Ready,” “Lively Up Yourself” and “Wake Up and Live – Pt. 1.”

“Me is a common sense man,” Bob Marley once said. “That mean when me explain things me explain it in a very simple way, that mean if I explain it to a baby the baby will understand too, you know.” Ziggy continues, “My father’s music spans generations and with B is for Bob we give the youngest their very own Bob Marley record.”

Released in time for summer, the album features fun extras for kids and parents: the CD unlocks bonus online digital content including coloring book pages, a sing-a-long music video and audio stream previews of Ziggy Marley’s new Family Time album.

Each Bob CD also includes a free one-year subscription to Parents magazine. B is for Bob comes in a recyclable and biodegradable Eco-Pak, making the album kid-, parent- and Earth-friendly. For more information, visit:

The Island 50th campaign will feature CD reissues, digital compilations, movie festivals and more.

“Growing up music was an important part of my childhood,” Marley says. “I see it being just as important in my children and all children’s growth and development. Music helps children to grow with open minds and open hearts and this is my message. This record represents my daily family life and is inspired by my three-year-old daughter Judah and baby Gideon. It was a joy to make and opened up new avenues in my creativity. Family Time is for all families and especially the world family.”

Born in Trench Town, Jamaica, Ziggy Marley’s early immersion in music came at a very tender age when he sat in on recording sessions with his father. He later joined his siblings (Sharon, Cedella and Stephen) to front The Melody Makers, whose eight best-selling albums garnered three Grammy awards and generated such chart-topping hits as “Tomorrow People” and “Tumbling Down.” ‘Dragonfly’, his solo debut was released in 2003. His sophomore solo album, ‘Love Is My Religion’, was released in 2006 and won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album at the 2007 ceremony.

Ziggy Marley has contributed to a variety of children’s programming including Nick Jr.’s “Dora the Explorer,” the PBS children’s show “Arthur,” and Shark Tale, in which he delved into acting, playing the character of Bernie the Jamaican jellyfish as well as re-recording his father’s “Three Little Birds” with Sean Paul and his brother Stephen Marley for the soundtrack.

In addition to his skills as a singer, songwriter and producer, Marley founded U.R.G.E. (Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment), a non-profit organization that benefits a wide range of charitable children’s causes in Jamaica, and other developing nations. More recently he has lent his support to the Fashion Against Aids, Little Kids Rock and Youth AIDS campaign. Proceeds from the sale of this album will benefit Chepstowe Basic School in Port Antonio, JA.

The Tuff Gong label, was founded in 1965 by Bob Marley, with the vision of producing, distributing and promoting his music free from the constraints of corporate label politics. In a time decades before artist-owned record labels were commonplace, the legendary Bob Marley’s vision was characteristically well ahead of its time. Now, nearly a half-century later, his dream is being realized.

O’Shea had surgery as an infant in his native country, Australia, to repair a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. Having had several Chart topping hits as an artist and songwriter back home, he and his wife Jay moved to Nashville two years ago to further develop a music career here. After touring 41 of 50 states and working with some of the best names in the business, Mark is already creating quite a buzz.

“I was delighted with the opportunity to work with the Pediatric Heart Institute,” O’Shea said. “They are truly leading the way in caring for kids with heart problems. It just seemed to be the perfect fit for me and a great way to hopefully ease the mind of a few parents and kids out there who are going through the same thing I did.”

In the video, a number of children who had heart surgeries and non-surgical repair of heart defects show photos from the time of their surgery, then the patients toss the photos aside to show how well they have recovered. You can also see the video on the Children’s Hospital’s pediatric heart institute webpage at www.vanderbiltchildrens.com/heart. This video can also be viewed by visiting www.myspace.com/markoshea.

The Marcum family, from Knoxville, Tenn. happened to be at the hospital preparing for their 7-year-old daughter Sarah’s open heart surgery when they saw O’Shea performing his song and screening the video.

“It was almost like safety in numbers,” said Emily Marcum. “There were so many people in the room and in the video who had been through it already, it was reassuring.”

Sarah Marcum and her family got to meet and talk with O’Shea after the video screening. (Sarah is currently recovering from her successful surgery)

O’Shea also assisted in the production of a second video called “The Care Behind the Kids.” The video, which can also be seen at www.vanderbiltchildrens.com/heart and www.myspace.com/markoshea showcases faculty and staff at the Pediatric Heart Institute with O’Shea serving as the video’s host.

Will the Dragons dance with their babies tonight?

On September 8th, 2008, we see the last in the series of the hugely popular and painstakingly addictive Dragon’s Den. Will Mancunian Naomi Timperley and her American business partner Andy Blackman-Hurwitz be able to melt the hearts of the fiery Dragons with their innovative and successful concept Baby Loves Disco? With 16 children between them you’d think Theo, Duncan and Peter would be uber interested. Tune in to BBC Two on 8th September @ 9pm to find out!

Baby Loves Disco is a phenomenon taking the UK by storm; it’s a real disco in a real club but especially for your little ones.

Baby Loves Disco is the afternoon dance party for little kids (6 months to 8 years).

And (especially) their parents, featuring real DJs spinning tunes guaranteed to get those little booties moving and grooving. The latest and most unlikely craze was started in the US, and is well established in over 30 cities. It is also going global having recently launched in Japan, Israel and Poland.

To celebrate the continuing success of the brand, Universal Music TV is set to release ‘Baby Loves Disco – The Album’ on October 13th, 2008.

The three CD disco in a box features non stop club classics plus some trendy young and fresh tracks thrown in to keep you on your toes. This is not just any disco compilation because it’s been specially formulated for the parents of young children. We all know how important music is to our little ones and let’s face it, is important to the grown ups as well.

A mid-life crisis is a funny thing. Some men buy the motorbike they’ve always dreamed of, while others grow ill-advised facial hair and regress to denim jackets and faded T-shirts. But not Alan Sinnett, Mike Wilkie and Matthew Corbett who decided to do something positive with their ‘rocking’ hobby and have in the process already raised £10,000 for children’s charities.

The three ordinary middle-aged guys work as a Lawyer and in advertising respectively, during the day, but like nothing better than to unwind with a good ‘jam’ with their band Rain after work on a Wednesday evening.

All three of the band have wives and children at home which dictates that they only have 3 hours a week to spend on their hobby and this explains why it’s taken them a year to put together their album, ‘267d Cranmore Boulevard’, named after the studio in which they recorded it.

However realising that sold-out stadium tours, groupies and rock and roll debauchery were probably no longer an advisable career option and knowing they didn’t really need the royalty money, they decided to instead use their musical output as a fundraiser – and every penny from the album they’ve just produced will be going to children’s charities across the UK.

You can hear some of the band’s music and find out more about their work on their website – where you can also order the physical album in return for a cheque made out to the NSPCC or download the album for free. The band ask that if people do download the music and enjoy it that they make a donation of whatever they can afford to a charity of their choice.

Welcome to the magical world of In the Night Garden. The record breaking and highly rated Cbeebies programme is about a magical picture-book place that exists between waking and sleeping in a child’s imagination. Upsy Daisy and friends invite children into their happy and colourful world of Words, Music and Nursery Rhyme nonsense.
