A funny, new video for the single “Liberation Day” by singer-songwriter Ferras starring NYC comedian Greg Johnson running naked across America has been creating buzz online since its August 12th premiere on Myspace.com.

The video entitled “Naked Guy Runs Across America”, captures Johnson as he makes his way from New York City all the way to Los Angeles wearing only his socks and running shoes, has been viewed over 67,000 times on myspace and youtube.

“I saw the video on myspace and absolutely loved it!…Greg Johnson definitely threw his illusions away,” said Ferras, whose debut album ‘Aliens & Rainbows’ was released last spring to critical acclaim.

People magazine proclaims Ferras “comes off like a baby Elton on songs like ‘Hollywood’s Not America.’”

Ferras has performed on NBC’s Today show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and on CBS’ The Early Show.

Capitol Music Group debut artist Ferras has confirmed a month-long series of tour dates opening for fellow singer-songwriter Ryan Cabrera. Ferras joined Cabrera June 1st in Baltimore, MD and will tour through June 24th, 2008 in Milwaukee, WI (full schedule below).

The lead single “Hollywood’s Not America” from Ferras’ debut album Aliens & Rainbows (Capitol Records) became an instant hit after it played as the exit song during the Hollywood elimination phase of television ratings champ American Idol, early in the spring. Over 240,000 digital downloads have been sold online during the song’s eleven-week Billboard Hot 100 chart run, and “Hollywood’s Not America” has also hit the Top 20 in the adult-targeted Hot AC radio format.

“I love playing live shows and having the opportunity to share my music with people,” said Ferras, who acknowledges Elton John, David Bowie, Queen and The Beatles among the central influences of his music. “I’m excited to be a part of Ryan Cabrera’s tour.”

Since the April 1st release of ‘Aliens & Rainbows’, produced by The Matrix (Avril Lavigne, Jason Mraz, Korn) with Gary Clark (Natalie Imbruglia, Lloyd Cole), the 25 year old Ferras has been a constant presence on the live stage and television screen. He has toured nationally with A Fine Frenzy, headlined a high school tour in conjunction with Nickelodeon’s The N, and performed numerous radio shows, including an electrifying performance in front of 17,000 at New York’s Z-100 “Zootopia” show, along with The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Jesse McCartney, New Kids On The Block and Sara Bareilles.

Among his many regional and national television appearances are performing slots on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and the Today show as well as CBS’ The Early Show. In addition to the dates with Ryan Cabrera, Ferras will continue his series of radio promos, and will appear at Lollapalooza on August 2nd, 2008 and at the Halsted Market Days Festival on August 10th in Chicago.

“Hollywood’s Not America,” the lead single from Capitol Music Group recording artist Ferras‘ premiere album, ‘Aliens and Rainbows’, made its on-air and online debut on The N, the network totally for and about teens, as part of a new exclusive promotional campaign to support the new album release.

The campaign, which began this week, will include “The N Presents Ferras,” a six-city high school tour and an exclusive video mash-up of Ferras’ latest single with never-before-seen clips from The N’s hit series, Degrassi: The Next Generation.

The N premiered the new video on air and online at The Click, The-N.com’s broadband media player Wednesday, April 16, 2008.

The multi-format radio hit, tipped as a USA Today “Pick of the Week” and an Entertainment Weekly “Download of the Day,” has sold nearly 100,000 copies since its release eight weeks ago.

The video for “Hollywood’s Not America,” directed by Paul Brown (Smashing Pumpkins, Death Cab for Cutie, Evanescence), is one of only three videos in “Love” rotation at The N, the “VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown” and also MTV Hits, Music Choice and LOGO’s new music show, “New Now Next.”

People magazine pronounced Ferras “the new piano man,” drawing favorable comparisons to Elton John, Coldplay and Hall & Oates, in a recent review of ‘Aliens & Rainbows’, which was produced by The Matrix (Avril Lavigne, Jason Mraz, Korn) with Gary Clark (Natalie Imbruglia, Lloyd Cole).

The young artist, who has already performed on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Today” show as well as CBS’ “The Early Show Saturday Edition,” just wrapped up a tour with Capitol Music Group label mate A Fine Frenzy.

While the high school dates aren’t open to the public, New Yorkers will have an opportunity to check out Ferras’ live show at Joe’s Pub in the East Village on Wednesday, April 23, 2008.
