Having been selected as one of five artists featured on the Rhapsody/Pacifico Indie Music Hub page (www.rhapsodyextras.com/pacifico/), Backlight Records recording artist Holler, Wild Rose! was recently featured on, “BBC Introducing,” hosted by Tom Robinson on BBC 6 in England as well as “BBC Radio Bristol Introducing,” hosted by Richard Pitt & Gary Smith on BBC Radio Bristol.

Holler, Wild Rose!’s debut album ‘Our Little Hymnal’ was created over two years and released in September of 2007. Featured as a Napster (US) and iTunes Australia Staff Pick on the day of release, the album has gone on to receive significant airplay on over 150 US and Canadian stations including regular spins on stations such as KCRW, WXPN, WBOS, XM Satellite Radio and Bagel Radio. Holler Wild Rose!’s song “Marylawn Hair” was featured as part of the FILTER Magazine “Subway Series” Compilation released for CMJ 2007 (alongside artists such as PJ Harvey, Joy Division, Counting Crows and Oslo) and their song “Sun Vines” is included in the 2008 TEVA Anthology Vol. 6 (with Iron & Wine, Nada Surf, Sia and Dave Matthews). Additionally, Holler, Wild Rose! was selected as FILTER Magazine’s March 2008 Undiscovered Band of the Month leading to features on the band on FILTER’s website and in their print magazine.

In December of 2008, Holler, Wild Rose!’s Christmas song, Born In A Cave, was featured as part of the “Amazon.com 25 Days of FREE” Christmas promotion (alongside Rosie Thomas, Sixpence None the Richer, Bela Fleck and more) and they recently completed taping for the nationally syndicated music show, Fearless Music TV.

Ian McGlynn’s album title, ‘This Is The Sound’, is certainly a bold declaration, and one listen to the delicate swoon of the lullaby-like track that bears its name will convince listeners that it’s also an invitation.

This latest collection is full of warmth, waltz, and his patented soaring chorus. Ian has fashioned an album of 11 distinct sounding songs that somehow seem like they were always destined to exist on the same slab of plastic together.

From the hyper-nostalgic pop hooks of “Memorial Day Parade” to the quiet hush of “Small Town, Big Hearts,” ‘This Is The Sound’ indeed sounds like little else out there. It also marks Ian’s first time producing. Alongside John Mosloskie of Holler, Wild Rose! fame (who not only co-produces but plays, sings and presumably dances on the record), Ian was determined to create something organic, cinematic and, well… catchy, which was the vision behind “This Is The Sound” when it was being written by Ian and his songwriting partner, Chris Newkirk.

Ian’s songs have appeared in the indie film Off The Black starring Nick Nolte, the Meg Ryan/Antonio Banderas feature My Mom’s New Boyfriend, a Posies tribute album, as well as on an internationally released compilation that included Duncan Sheik, among others.

Holler, Wild Rose! returns to CMJ this year as part of The Rebel Group Showcase on Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 at 7:00pm. The showcase will be held at Fontana’s, located at 105 Eldridge St, New York, NY.

Additional artists performing at the CMJ showcase will include, Arms, Pepi Ginsberg, The Lovely Sparrows, Jukebox the Ghost, The Forms and Bottle Up & Go.

To help celebrate CMJ 2008, all attendees will receive a free preview DVD of the forthcoming Holler, Wild Rose! music video, “Marylawn Hair.” The video was directed by Holler, Wild Rose! lead guitarist and NYU Film graduate, Ryan Cheresnick and bassist and Montclair State University film graduate, Scott Vangenderen. The video will be released at the end of October.
