OK Go form their own label

Beginning April 1st, Paracadute and OK Go will take over all distribution and promotion functions for the band

New, embeddable video for 'This Too Shall Pass' garners over six million plays in the first six days

OK Go, the band whose inventive internet campaigns and self-directed music videos have set records and won the band a GRAMMY, announces the formation of Paracadute.

Paracadute and OK Go will oversee the distribution and promotion functions for the band and have planned an extensive promotional campaign for OK Go's latest album, Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky, which was released in the UK in February.

Buy Music:

OK Go on amazon.com

OK Go on amazon.co.uk

Just as the band saw an opportunity to do something different with their homemade videos, OK Go see untapped potential in the sea change that the music industry is experiencing and believe there are tremendous opportunities for artists capable of managing their own promotion and distribution. The band, who have always controlled their publishing, merchandise, touring, and all other non-recording rights, are parting by mutual agreement with EMI Music.

"We'd like to thank the people who have worked so hard on our behalf," said OK Go singer Damian Kulash, who will discuss the band's departure from the label on the US's NPR's 'All Things Considered'. "And we'd like to thank our fans for making this choice an easy one for us."

The agreement will be effective April 1st. Without missing a beat, OK Go will perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live that evening and launch a North American tour on April 13th, which will include stops at numerous music festivals, including Bamboozle, Bonnaroo and Sasquatch.

The band are set to appear on a string of US TV shows, including Late Show with David Letterman on April 28th, The Colbert Report on April 29th and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on May 4th.

OK Go unveiled its latest crazily ambitious clip - the video for current single This Too Shall Pass (watch video), which features a two-story Rube Goldberg machine built by the band and Syyn Labs, a team of creative engineers with day jobs at NASA and Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Last Monday and it garnered over six million views in the first six days, becoming the #1 Top Rated (All Time) music video on YouTube.

Kulash has been asked to participate in the 'How to Create a Viral Video' panel taking place at SXSW this Saturday, March 13th.

The new video features the album/single version of 'This Too Shall Pass', and follows up on the explosive success of their last video, a live recording of the same song that featured 130 members of the Notre Dame marching band. That clip marked the first time that a song's video and recording session were one and the same, and in only a couple weeks its online views soared past two million.

With 180 million video streams and counting, OK Go - comprising Damian Kulash, Tim Nordwind, Dan Konopka and Andy Ross - is the most-downloaded band ever. Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky was produced by ex-Mercury Rev member David Fridmann (Flaming Lips, MGMT) and is out now, here's what the press had to say about it:

"snappy, exuberant indie" - The Times

"Best Of The New Breed" - Evening Standard

"Electro-infused and anthemic spirit-raiser" - Independent

"A splicing of pervy pop with punch-drunk sea-shanties" - NME

"Indie-rock on the verge of mainstream breakthrough" - Guardian Guide

"As songs from Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky prove, they're no novelty act" - News Of The World

"The band return to support their new album, with a harder, positively Prince-like funk sound" - Sunday Times

As the release of their new album, Shame, Shame approaches, Dr. Dog is thrilled to announce several upcoming performances and events in support of their April 6th release.

Already praised for "continuing the upward rise-and higher education-of Dr. Dog" Shame, Shame has been hailed by Filter Magazine for its "addictive pop-rock singles" that "points back to the days of 2005's Easy Beat, when the band's highly-prized live sound was captured."

Over the last few years, Dr. Dog has gone on to catch the attention of many. From the praise in Rolling Stone, The New York Times, NPR, People Magazine and more, to the adoration from artists like Jack White, Beck, Jeff Tweedy, Kanye West and Lou Reed, and to selling out 1500 capacity venues in major markets worldwide, what started in the basement of a farm house in Pennsylvania with a 4 track has developed into an inventive, magnificently realized, and absolutely irresistible band who shows no sign of slowing down.

OK Go To Perform On Jimmy Kimmel Live On April 1st In Advance Of North American Tour

OK Go, the band whose inventive self-directed music videos have set internet records and won the band a GRAMMY, have unveiled their latest crazily ambitious clip - the second video for current single "This Too Shall Pass".

Buy Music:

OK Go on amazon.com

OK Go on amazon.co.uk

Before shooting commenced, the band spent four months working with SynnLabs, a team of creative engineers with day jobs at NASA and Jet Propulsion Laboratory, to build a two-story Rube Goldberg machine in a Los Angeles warehouse.

Goldberg, a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist and inventor, was best known for his cartoons of imaginary devices - now known as Rube Goldberg machines - performing simple tasks in an elaborate, convoluted manner.

Watch "This Too Shall Pass" video:

The video features the album/single version of "This Too Shall Pass," and follows up on the explosive success of their last video, a live recording of the same song that featured 130 members of the Notre Dame marching band. That clip marked the first time that a song's video and recording session were one and the same, and in only a couple weeks its online views have soared past two million. It can be seen on MTV2, mtvU, Nickelodeon, Teen Nick, Fuse.Tv (where it was recently "Video of the Day"), Logo and Music Choice.

State Farm's sponsorship of the new Rube Goldberg video is helping OK Go be there for their fans: it will be embeddable by fans and can be posted anywhere on the internet. A furor erupted last month because fans could not embed earlier OK Go videos due to contractual issues. When singer Damian Kulash posted a candid and even-handed explanation of the situation to fans, his letter itself went viral, netting over 500,000 hits in two days.

OK Go has been tapped as Xbox LIVE's "Artist of the Month" for March, facing off with fans in a Game With Fame event. The band will perform on the outdoor stage of Jimmy Kimmel Live on April 1, 2010 prior to the launch of its upcoming North American tour. Dates for the tour, which will include stops at Bamboozle and Bonnaroo, will be announced shortly.

With 175 million video streams and counting, OK Go - comprising Damian Kulash, Tim Nordwind, Dan Konopka and Andy Ross - is the most-downloaded band ever.

Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky, the group's new album, is the follow-up to 2005's Oh No and was produced by ex-Mercury Rev member David Fridmann (Flaming Lips, MGMT). The record earned a 4 ½ star review from Alternative Press, prompting the critic to "start drafting that 'Best of 2010' list, right now" while Spin praised it as "ambitious," comparing the rhythm section to a "stealth weapon...they explode with the force of a polyrhythmic fireworks display."

The UK singer-songwriter will return to the States next month, launching her first North American tour in three years on April 6th with a benefit show for Santa Monica-based public radio station KCRW (89.9 FM and KCRW.com). This special evening at Vibiana, a historic cathedral located in downtown Los Angeles, will feature a performance by Corinne as well as an interview with Jason Bentley, KCRW's Music Director and host of Morning Becomes Eclectic. It will be taped for broadcast on Morning Becomes Eclectic on April 9th. Tickets for the concert go on sale to KCRW members tomorrow and to the general public on March 9th.

Corinne Bailey Rae will perform on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 7th before continuing the tour, which will take her to both intimate venues and festivals. She'll perform at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival (April 17th), the St. Lucia Jazz Festival (May 8th) and on select Lilith Fair dates (to be announced). See below for itinerary.

The Sea, the follow up to Bailey Rae's 2006 self-titled debut, entered The Billboard 200 in the Top 10 in January and has elicited stellar reviews. "The album is a major creative leap from her debut,"said The New York Times while People noted in a four-star, Critic's Choice review: "she captivates with a haunting, heartbreaking set that's almost painfully exquisite." The Los Angeles Times called it "a remarkable accomplishment" in a four-star review while Rolling Stone observed: "Her latest is both reckoning and rebirth...Fragile arrangements - guitar, auto-harp, orchestra - suggest indie rock ('Are You Here') as much as R&B (the Isley Brothers-ish 'Closer'). Rae also celebrates love and, on 'The Blackest Lily,' even rocks a funky vocoder, confronting death with the greatest weapon: life, fully lived."

HULU launched a full Corinne Bailey Rae channel where fans can view her latest videos, clips from her debut album, a "Live From The Artists Den" featurette from the upcoming episode airing on Public Television this spring and footage from a 2006 New York City concert.

The video for "Paris Nights/New York Mornings" has just been added to mtvU, Centric and VH1 Soul while "I'd Do It All Again," the first single/video from The Sea, was added earlier at Centric, mtvU, VH1 Soul, Music Choice and Logo.

"Highly Strung" Music Video Featuring Steve Vai to Premiere on AOL on Tuesday January 19th

After a whirlwind few months following the release of her debut album, Believe, and This Is It, the film that showcased her incredible guitar skills to the world, pop sensation Orianthi isn't about to slow down any time soon.

The 19th also marks the premiere of Orianthi's new music video for "Highly Strung," a blistering guitar duet between she and legendary guitarist Steve Vai, a long-time friend and mentor to the 24-year-old Australian beauty.

In the video, premiering exclusively on AOL, the two phenoms will face each other in a guitar show-down of epic proportions.

Finally, for fans in the Los Angeles area, Orianthi will be hosting a free all-ages concert and CD signing at the Hard Rock Cafe outside Universal Studios on Friday, February 5th at 8:30 pm.
Fueled by the chart-topping track, which hit No. 1 on the Modern, Active and Rock formats and was hailed by Spin magazine as "one of the catchiest songs of Alice In Chains' history," the album entered Billboard's Top 200 Albums Chart at No. 5, with first-week sales exceeding 126,000 copies.

The quartet (guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, guitarist/vocalist William DuVall, drummer Sean Kinney and bassist Mike Inez) is maintaining momentum with second single "Your Decision," which was this week's No. 1 Most Added track at Modern and Active Rock.

Earlier this week, the video for "Your Decision" premiered on iTunes and shot to No. 1 on their Rock Video Chart. Stephen Schuster, who they previously worked with on the video for "A Looking In View", directed the clip.

Switchfoot will kick off its fall headlining tour in San Diego on November 8 for 94.9's Anniversary Bash.

The band will then appear on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," performing on the outside stage on November 12th.

The tour will feature Switchfoot playing Hello Hurricane in its entirety, followed by fan favorites from its previous records.

The band will be collecting donations for local food banks along the tour route, so fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable items to the shows. (See below for tour itinerary and a list of food banks that will receive donations.)

Switchfoot is also launching a new website, www.theworldyouwant.com, which will spotlight goodness, beauty, and truth in everyday life. Fans are invited to contribute stories about people they know who are making this world a better place and the band will read some of these contributions from stage during the tour.

Recorded with producer/bassist Mike Elizondo (Rilo Kiley, Eminem, and Pink), Hello Hurricane is the group's seventh full-length and its first on Atlantic Records.

Lead single "Mess of Me" is getting airplay at Modern and Active Rock radio stations and is climbing the Modern Rock radio chart. "The Sound," another track from the album, has been tapped by Verizon Wireless for its national ad campaign for the BlackBerry® Storm™ 2.

Fans who pre-order Hello Hurricane will immediately receive a free download of "Mess of Me" and four videos. They have five pre-order options to choose from: the standard CD edition; deluxe CD/DVD edition with approximately 60 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage and studio performances; vinyl with CD; the Collector's edition (Hello Hurricane CD, deluxe DVD, an additional CD with studio outtakes and more, limited edition poster and 84-page hardcover book); and the digital download edition. For additional information or to pre-order, visit ITunes or the band's web site www.switchfoot.com.

At the end of October, Switchfoot - comprising of Jon Foreman (vocals/guitar), Tim Foreman (bass), Chad Butler (drums), Jerome Fontamillas (keys/guitar) and Drew Shirley (guitar) - will take the stage for Yahoo! Music's new live concert program, "Maximum Performance Guitar Hero 5."

Jon and Chad will be featured in an upcoming episode of "Road Trip Nation" airing on PBS stations in November. Check local listings or watch the episode at www.roadtripnation.com/watch/ anytime after its November 5th debut on KLCS TV in Los Angeles and Orange County. MySpace will premiere Hello Hurricane the week before its release and the band will be interviewed on "The MySpace Music Feed" on Monday, November 9th.

Switchfoot is the subject of an upcoming Rolling Stone "In the Studio" feature and will be on the cover of Relevant Magazine's November/ December issue. Jon has also penned two articles recently: his piece on charity in your own backyard will be in the November issue of Alternative Press and he's written on the nature of heroism for The Huffington Post.

He also recently participated in filming an innovative online game called "The Climate Challenge," for Oxfam (www.oxfamamerica.org/music).

"When you play the game, you will feel the urgency. We have to start acting now on climate change. There is literally no time to waste," says Foreman. The game will launch in late October at The Climate Challenge.

Hello Hurricane, Switchfoot's first studio album since 2006's Oh! Gravity, which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200, acknowledges life's storms while managing to find an element of hope in them. The band tracked more than 80 songs at its self-built home studio before narrowing it down to the 12 that appear on the new album. (Fans can check out the four-minute trailer, "The Making of Hello Hurricane," at www.switchfoot.com.)
