Just as the band saw an opportunity to do something different with their homemade videos, OK Go see untapped potential in the sea change that the music industry is experiencing and believe there are tremendous opportunities for artists capable of managing their own promotion and distribution. The band, who have always controlled their publishing, merchandise, touring, and all other non-recording rights, are parting by mutual agreement with EMI Music.

"We'd like to thank the people who have worked so hard on our behalf," said OK Go singer Damian Kulash, who will discuss the band's departure from the label on the US's NPR's 'All Things Considered'. "And we'd like to thank our fans for making this choice an easy one for us."

The agreement will be effective April 1st. Without missing a beat, OK Go will perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live that evening and launch a North American tour on April 13th, which will include stops at numerous music festivals, including Bamboozle, Bonnaroo and Sasquatch.

The band are set to appear on a string of US TV shows, including Late Show with David Letterman on April 28th, The Colbert Report on April 29th and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on May 4th.

OK Go unveiled its latest crazily ambitious clip - the video for current single This Too Shall Pass (watch video), which features a two-story Rube Goldberg machine built by the band and Syyn Labs, a team of creative engineers with day jobs at NASA and Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Last Monday and it garnered over six million views in the first six days, becoming the #1 Top Rated (All Time) music video on YouTube.

Kulash has been asked to participate in the 'How to Create a Viral Video' panel taking place at SXSW this Saturday, March 13th.

The new video features the album/single version of 'This Too Shall Pass', and follows up on the explosive success of their last video, a live recording of the same song that featured 130 members of the Notre Dame marching band. That clip marked the first time that a song's video and recording session were one and the same, and in only a couple weeks its online views soared past two million.

SXSW shows announced

First US tour kicks off with Little Dragon

After making her US television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live the other week, VV Brown makes her return to the small screen on Rachael Ray Monday, March 8, 2010 and then on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson later in the month.

Before shooting commenced, the band spent four months working with SynnLabs, a team of creative engineers with day jobs at NASA and Jet Propulsion Laboratory, to build a two-story Rube Goldberg machine in a Los Angeles warehouse.

Goldberg, a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist and inventor, was best known for his cartoons of imaginary devices - now known as Rube Goldberg machines - performing simple tasks in an elaborate, convoluted manner.

A furor erupted last month because fans could not embed earlier OK Go videos due to contractual issues. When singer Damian Kulash posted a candid and even-handed explanation of the situation to fans, his letter itself went viral, netting over 500,000 hits in two days.

OK Go has been tapped as Xbox LIVE's "Artist of the Month" for March, facing off with fans in a Game With Fame event. The band will perform on the outdoor stage of Jimmy Kimmel Live on April 1, 2010 prior to the launch of its upcoming North American tour. Dates for the tour, which will include stops at Bamboozle and Bonnaroo, will be announced shortly.

The UK singer-songwriter will return to the States next month, launching her first North American tour in three years on April 6th with a benefit show for Santa Monica-based public radio station KCRW (89.9 FM and KCRW.com). This special evening at Vibiana, a historic cathedral located in downtown Los Angeles, will feature a performance by Corinne as well as an interview with Jason Bentley, KCRW's Music Director and host of Morning Becomes Eclectic. The band will then appear on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," performing on the outside stage on November 12th.

The tour will feature Switchfoot playing Hello Hurricane in its entirety, followed by fan favorites from its previous records.

The band will be collecting donations for local food banks along the tour route, so fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable items to the shows. (See below for tour itinerary and a list of food banks that will receive donations.)

Switchfoot is also launching a new website, www.theworldyouwant.com, which will spotlight goodness, beauty, and truth in everyday life. Fans are invited to contribute stories about people they know who are making this world a better place and the band will read some of these contributions from stage during the tour.

Recorded with producer/bassist Mike Elizondo (Rilo Kiley, Eminem, and Pink), Hello Hurricane is the group's seventh full-length and its first on Atlantic Records.

Lead single "Mess of Me" is getting airplay at Modern and Active Rock radio stations and is climbing the Modern Rock radio chart. "The Sound," another track from the album, has been tapped by Verizon Wireless for its national ad campaign for the BlackBerry® Storm™ 2.

At the end of October, Switchfoot - comprising of Jon Foreman (vocals/guitar), Tim Foreman (bass), Chad Butler (drums), Jerome Fontamillas (keys/guitar) and Drew Shirley (guitar) - will take the stage for Yahoo! Music's new live concert program, "Maximum Performance Guitar Hero 5."

Jon and Chad will be featured in an upcoming episode of "Road Trip Nation" airing on PBS stations in November. MySpace will premiere Hello Hurricane the week before its release and the band will be interviewed on "The MySpace Music Feed" on Monday, November 9th.

Switchfoot is the subject of an upcoming Rolling Stone "In the Studio" feature and will be on the cover of Relevant Magazine's November/ December issue. Jon has also penned two articles recently: his piece on charity in your own backyard will be in the November issue of Alternative Press and he's written on the nature of heroism for The Huffington Post.

He also recently participated in filming an innovative online game called "The Climate Challenge," for Oxfam (www.oxfamamerica.org/music).

"When you play the game, you will feel the urgency. We have to start acting now on climate change. There is literally no time to waste," says Foreman. The game will launch in late October at The Climate Challenge.

Hello Hurricane, Switchfoot's first studio album since 2006's Oh! Gravity, which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200, acknowledges life's storms while managing to find an element of hope in them. The band tracked more than 80 songs at its self-built home studio before narrowing it down to the 12 that appear on the new album.
