RCA Records is proud to announce the Kings of Leon spring arena tour. These shows are the first set of US tour dates to follow their epic sold-out performance at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City on January 29th.

In his review of the performance, Jon Pareles of the New York Times wrote, “The music swelled to fill the arena, from the ominous stomp that opened the set, ‘Crawl’ to the lean defiance of ‘Knocked Up’ and, suitable for the occasion, the triumphal ‘Manhattan,’ which promises to ’show this town how to kiss these stars.’”

Kings Of Leon kick off the upcoming dates on the 19th of April 2009 at the Agganis Arena in Boston, MA and finish off at the Bill Graham Civic Center on May 21st in San Francisco, CA.

Nominated for three Grammy Awards (Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals), Kings Of Leon have seen their latest release ‘Only By The Night’ (RCA) take them to new levels of success in the United States.

Their lead single “Sex On Fire” has been #1 on the Billboard “Modern Rock” chart for nine weeks and counting. The second single, “Use Somebody,” has just been released to radio and is following nicely in the footsteps of “Sex On Fire.” The video has been named “Buzzworthy” by MTV and has had nearly six million views on YouTube to date.

‘Only By The Night’ was released on September 23, 2008 and debuted in the top five on the Billboard top 200 and #1 at the iTunes store. The band has since performed on Saturday Night Live and Late Night with David Letterman. The band appeared on the cover of Spin magazine’s October issue, and was on the cover of Q magazine’s December issue in the UK, in which they received “Record of the Year” honors.

Last night I was excited to see that Nicole Atkins was scheduled to play on Later Live…with Jools Holland.

A few months ago I was lucky to have had the opportunity to interview Nicole Atkins over the phone – and then the next day to watch her play an intimate show at the Soho Review Bar in London. I was able to see first hand what a talent she was and knew then that she had the ‘full package’ to reach out to many, many more people – with her excellent songs, charming stage presence and determination.

Originally from Neptune, New Jersey and having toured across the US, making appearances on shows like Late Night with Conan O’Brien and David Letterman, Nicole is probably more known in the States than here in England, however, after her strong performance last night on Jools Holland (her British television debut), I’m sure she’s gained even more fans from across the pond.

Other acts included:

Kings of Leon (”Sex On Fire”); when VV Brown came on, at first I wasn’t quite sure what to think, but then as the song went on (”Crying Blood”), her quirky soulful/punk grew on me and now I’ll be interested to hear more about her; Sway featuring Lemar (”Saturday Night Hustle”); and the First Lady of France Carla Bruni was interviewed by a flirtatious Jools Holland and then later was on with her “Tu Es Ma Came” single. It’s strange seeing a President’s wife hanging out with musicians and then singing live with a band…a first for me anyway. Has this ever happened before? With any other country’s First Lady?!

Nicole Atkins performed her dreamy pop single, “Maybe Tonight” off of debut album, ‘Neptune City’ and then Metallica closed the 30 minute night of varied music with their single, “The Day That Never Comes”. All members ended up taking solos, which was interesting on live TV, coming dangerously close to running over time. Now that’s Rock ‘n’ Roll…BBC style!

We Are Scientists are freaking out like a group of 8 year-old boys who’ve caught a snake in a box, and the reason is that they got the Kings of Leon tour this fall. W.A.S. will spend five weeks in October and November supporting the Southern Rock icons in a slew of American cities that includes Milwaukee.

Until then, New Yorkers Keith Murray (guitar, lead vocals) and Chris Cain (bass, receded reverby vocals), along with stage mates Max Hart (keys, shrieks) and Adam Aaronson (drums, haircut), will bring their hook-heavy, chop-confident second album, ‘Brain Thrust Mastery’, back to Europe for a late-summer seven-country swing that will include the U.K., where the album debuted at No. 11, and a jaunt supporting R.E.M. in Italy, Germany, Lithuania, and Spain.

Early October and an airplane will take the grown-men-without-jobs to Australia for a week of headliners before they literally double their skymile take by flying back home to join Kings of Leon.

The band is fresh off a late-July spot on CBS’s The Late Show With David Letterman playing the British Top 15 single “After Hours”, about which Letterman himself exclaimed, immediately post-performance, “That’s exactly what we’re looking for… the beauty!” We Are Scientists’ seamless fusion of pop-rock influences stretching from the Sixties to 2012, their “nimble melodies and kinetic enthusiasm”, were all praised as “hard to resist” by Alternative Press.

A closer look revealed, though, that nine out of every ten employees of the Alternative Press did manage to resist when faced with the album in stores. We Are Scientists released their first album, ‘With Love and Squalor’, in 2005, scoring three major British hit singles and gold-certified album sales in the UK.

L.A.’s Hello Stranger will hit the road for a string of dates with the Foo Fighters and Against Me, beginning this month. A band constantly pushing their limits, Hello Stranger’s sound combines elements of both rock and glam, mixed with a hefty dose of raw energy.

After years of touring in true indie DIY fashion, and occasionally supporting friends like Kings of Leon and Rooney on national tours, Hello Stranger are excited to finally get a rider and a proper sound check. But paying their dues has prepared the foursome for these shows where they will be playing tracks from their upcoming release.

The new record will follow the band’s 2006 self-titled debut, a unique blend of folky-dance-rock, released on indie label Aeronaut Records.

Hello Stranger are currently in the studio with producer Mike Elizondo (Maroon 5, Rilo Kiley, Fiona Apple), where the band’s heavier side has started to emerge on tracks like “Big Boots” and “Gimme Back My Wig” – songs with a power made for the stadium.

While frontwoman Juliette Commagere has added to the band’s ballsier sound by starting to play electric guitar, she still continues to shred on her beloved Moog Liberation. Nevertheless, Juliette’s alluring vocals and 70’s rock prowess remain at the heart of Hello Stranger’s sound.
