In an initiative to assist in providing long-term support to the people of the earthquake-ravaged nation of Haiti, Dave Matthews Band has established the Bama Works Haiti Relief Fund.

Proceeds from The Haiti Relief Project, a five-song digital EP from the group, and a new limited edition t-shirt featuring its cover art, will benefit the fund.

The EP is available for download for $5 at DMBLive.com. Musictoday is graciously providing the download service for this release.

The Haiti Relief Project features five previously unreleased live tracks from Dave Matthews Band.

The collection kicks off with "Butterfly," a song Matthews wrote for the film Because of Winn Dixie and performed solo in this 2007 recording. It's followed by a 2004 version of "Cry Freedom" featuring a powerful performance from LeRoi Moore, the group's saxophonist, who passed away in 2008.

Three tracks captured on the band's 2009 summer tour - "Out Of My Hands," "Lying In The Hands Of God" and "Dive In" - are also included.

The staff of Ants Marching, a Dave Matthews Band fan forum, was instrumental in selecting the versions of the five songs that appear on the EP. Award-winning designer Adam Larson of Adam+Company generously donated the artwork for the EP, which also appears on the limited edition The Haiti Relief Project t-shirt.

The Bama Works Haiti Relief Fund, a part of the Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band, will be focused on rebuilding efforts. The Bama Works Fund was founded in 1999 and has provided more than $8.5 million to charities thus far.

Working with Music For Relief, a non-profit founded by Linkin Park, Dave Matthews Band joined forces with Linkin Park, Alanis Morissette, The All-American Rejects, Enrique Iglesias, Hoobastank, Kenna, Lupe Fiasco, Peter Gabriel and Slash for Download To Donate For Haiti, a compilation benefiting Haiti relief efforts.

Dave Matthews Band's "Typical Situation" from the July 5, 1997 Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre show in Irvine, CA was selected for the charitable release and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Bama Works Haiti Relief Fund.

Dave Matthews and Neil Young performed Hank Williams' "Alone and Forsaken" at the "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon. The live performance album from the broadcast, which benefits Haitian relief organizations, was the first digital-only release in chart history to top The Billboard 200.

Rock legends collaborate on title track for highly anticipated new Alice In Chains album Black Gives Way To Blue

Album in stores September 29th

Among the many highlights on 'Black Gives Way To Blue', the highly anticipated new album from ALICE IN CHAINS, is a special guest performance by Elton John.

The two rock legends collaborated on the album’s stunning title track, "Black Gives Way To Blue," a heart-stirring tribute to Alice In Chains’ late lead singer Layne Staley.

The album arrives in stores September 29, 2009

"We were thinking about adding piano to the track and a friend suggested we call Elton," recalls guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell. "I remember laughing and saying, ‘Yeah, I’ll get right on that.’ But I decided it was worth trying and wrote Elton an email explaining what that song means to us - that it’s a real, raw openhearted song for Layne. We sent him the track and got a call shortly after saying he thought it was beautiful and that he wanted to play on it. We were blown away. Elton John is a huge influence on me as a songwriter and having him on that song is an amazing honor for us."

"I’ve long been an admirer of Jerry Cantrell and when he asked me to play on ‘Black Gives Way To Blue,’ I was very flattered and couldn’t resist," says Elton John. "It was a great recording session with Alice In Chains for a beautiful song."

About the collaboration, Cantrell says, "Elton was finishing his Red Piano run in Vegas, so we flew there and hung out for a few hours. Walking into a studio and seeing the sheet music for that song on Elton’s piano made it meaningful on so many different levels. The whole experience was pretty magical."

BLACK GIVES WAY TO BLUE is Alice In Chains’ first new studio release in more than 10 years.

The quartet (guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, drummer Sean Kinney, bassist Mike Inez and guitarist/vocalist William DuVall) recorded the album with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters) at Studio 606 in Northridge, CA and Henson Studios in Hollywood.

Innerpartysystem are confirmed to play the highly-anticipated Projekt Revolution show at Milton Keynes Bowl ...

Innerpartysystem are confirmed to play the highly-anticipated Projekt Revolution show at Milton Keynes Bowl June 29th, 2008. Headlined by Linkin Park, Innerpartysystem join Jay-Z, Pendulum, N.E.R.D, Enter Shikari and The Bravery on a bill that threatens to be one of the gigs of the summer!

Innerpartysystem is four guys who were reared in the bleak small towns that surround Reading, Pennsylvania. The weathered houses, rusted factories and sprawling farms make this the landscape of true America. These environments are stark and mechanical, and they are pregnant with dark and anxious hope - sentiments that Patrick Nissley, Innerpartysystem's main songwriter, carries in his writing. Innerpartysystem have a distinctive vision, as their songs incorporate throbbing electronic beats that nod towards Autechre, Chemical Brothers and Squarepusher but they are equally a rock band whom, like Nine Inch Nails, Pendulum and Prodigy, aren't afraid to mix styles and mess with the formula.

Their first visit to the UK in April for the Camden Crawl immediately caught the attention of music heads and clued-up media leaders in the capitol with the likes of Zane, Daniel P Carter, XFM, Scuzz and Kerrang! all lending their support. The superb Penta directed video, is currently the #1 requested video on Scuzz.

Alongside their appearance at Projekt Revolution, the Pennsylvanian quartet are also confirmed to play the following dates including a set at the Wireless Festival, where they will appear on the Tuborg Stage.

Watch "Don't Stop" video:

"If you're looking for some beefy, groove-laden electro-rock then you're gonna cream your pants at this!" - Kerrang!

Something tells me Linkin Park is going to be everywhere this summer. When I say everywhere I mean radio, tour, videos, blogs and people will be talking about Linkin Park.

I've known about the California based band pretty much since they came out around seven years ago, but I was never a big fan of theirs or the name Linkin Park for some reason (apparently named after Lincoln Park in Santa Monica, CA) and their sound tends to be heavily produced with a lot of effects on the vocals, but lately I'm beginning to hear more to them than just the name of the band and the effects.

The other day I watched a Camp Freddy video with Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington - now that's a good name - sitting in with them and singing a cover of AC/DC's "Highway to Hell". That for me was the turning point. That Chester Bennington has a wicked voice and it was really good to hear him singing without all the effects. Now I'm suddenly interested in Linkin Park.

Linkin Park's latest single, "What I've Done" is set for release on CD in May and it has already been well received by many. "What I've Done" is off of Linkin Park's new album Minutes to Midnight out May 14th 2007 worldwide (May 15th North America) and after hearing the song and from what I've seen in the new video for "What I've Done", it seems like they're beginning to change direction a bit with their sound, growing up I guess, and I'm looking forward to hearing the other tracks off of Minutes to Midnight.

As you can see by following this Camp Freddy link, I've written about the band quite a bit over the months. Yes I am a fan. Does the fact that Slash will sit in with them on occasion give me more of a reason to be a fan? Yes.

Not only that but I think it's great that they are open to inviting other guest musicians onstage with them to perform punk and rock covers alongside or to fill in for usual band members Dave Navarro, Billy Morrison, Matt Sorum, Scott Weiland, Donovan Leitch and Chris Chaney. Guests who have played with Camp Freddy have included Moby, Robbie Williams, Ronnie Wood, Stephen Jenkins, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mark McGrath, Brett Scallions, Macy Gray, Perry Farrell, Wes Scantlin, Billy Duffy, Jerry Cantrell, Shelby Lynne and many more.

Fellow blogger and musician Billy Morrison from Camp Freddy and Circus Diablo just posted a Camp Freddy video on his blog of them playing live with guests Slash on guitar and singer Chester Bennington from Linkin Park. They perform a cool cover of AC/DC's song "Highway To Hell". The video is from an after show concert for the AES Convention in October 2006.
