'Sticky & Sweet' tour becomes most successful tour by a solo artist in history

Madonna's 'Sticky & Sweet' Tour made history as it wrapped up last night with two final shows in Tel Aviv, Israel at Yehoshua Gardens (HaYarkon Park, September 1st and 2nd).

The Material Girl more than lives up to her name, as her tour becomes the most successful tour ever by a solo artist.

After playing 85 shows since its launch in August 2008, Madonna's ‘Sticky & Sweet’ has drawn more than 3.5 million fans in 32 countries and has grossed 408 million dollars, it was announced today by Live Nation, the tour’s global producer. ‘Sticky & Sweet’ is also the second highest grossing tour of all time.

Madonna set an attendance record for the biggest crowds in history in Zurich, Switzerland, where she drew the largest audience ever assembled for a show in that country (72,000). Her Gothenburg, Sweden show, seen by 119,000 fans, broke the record for highest grossing multiple shows in the country’s history. In Helsinki, Finland, ‘Sticky & Sweet’ sold more than 85,000 tickets, making it the biggest single show by an artist in history for all of Scandinavia. Other highlights on the tour included stops in Buenos Aires, Argentina (256,000), Santiago, Chile (146,000), Sao Paulo, Brazil (203,000), Tallinn, Estonia (72,000), Warsaw, Poland (79,000), Bucharest, Romania (69,000), and Sofia, Bulgaria (54,000).

In 2004, four of the greatest voices in the world emerged to spearhead an entire musical genre by bringing the sound of opera to the world of popular music. Now as one of the most successful groups in the world with over 22 million albums sold, Il Divo is ready to re-emerge with a brand new album and massive touring plans.

On November 10th, 2008, Il Divo will release 'The Promise', the group's fifth album (Syco). And today, Live Nation, the world's largest live music company, announced that it has signed a global touring agreement with Il Divo who will be launching their worldwide tour in February 2009.

For 'The Promise', Il Divo members David Miller, Sebastien Izambard, Urs Buhler and Carlos Marín reunited with acclaimed producer and long-time collaborator Steve MCutcheon aka Steve Mac (Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, Westlife) who produced Il Divo's #1 albums 'Siempre' and 'Ancora' plus their self-titled debut.

Sung primarily in Spanish, Italian and English, songs on 'The Promise' include "The Winner Takes It All", "Hallelujah", "Amazing Grace", a Latin original entitled "La Promessa" and "The Power of Love," which marks the first time songwriters Holly Johnson and Trevor Horn have allowed the song to be re-cut by any artist other than Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

Coldplay announce their "Viva La Vida" North American Tour in support of their new album of the same name, set for release in the US on June 17th, 2008 (UK - June 12th).

The tour, which will be produced by Live Nation, will kick off on June 29th in Philadelphia, PA.

Before kicking off the "Viva La Vida" tour, Coldplay will play free concerts in London (June 16, 2008 at the Brixton Academy) and New York (June 23rd at Madison Square Garden). 'Viva La Vida', Coldplay's upcoming album, will be released by Capitol Music Group on June 17th. Produced by Brian Eno and Markus Dravs, the record is the follow-up to 2005's 'X&Y', which debuted at #1 in 32 countries and has sold 10 million copies worldwide to date.

Motley Crue, the world's most notorious rock band, has revealed that this summer they, along with Buckcherry, Papa Roach, SIXX:AM and Trapt, will head out on the road for what will undoubtedly be the hottest ticket of the year for rock fans - "Crue Fest '08."

The tour, produced by Live Nation, kicks off on July 1st, 2008 and will hit over 40 major North American and Canadian cities by the end of August. Fans that can't wait for this weekend's online sale can get their tickets early by going to TheRockvine.com.

On-site activities will include a 2nd "Stage" presented by Rock Band where fans attending the show can play the part of "rock star" while playing the game. A special Crue Fest CD featuring tracks from all of the bands on the tour will be available exclusively at Best Buy beginning June 17th, 2008.

Motley Crue also announced the upcoming release of 'Saints of Los Angeles', their first new studio album recorded with all of the original band members in over a decade, hitting stores on June 17th. The band premiered the brand new single, "Saints Of Los Angeles," at today's press conference in LA.

Fresh from their sold-out Look Me In The Eyes tour of the USA, teen-sensations the Jonas Brothers have announced they will bring their power pop anthems live to Europe, joining Avril Lavigne in 23 cities across the continent.

Straight from the platinum success of their self-titled album released in August 2007, this exciting addition to the show's line-up will let European fans experience the band live for the very first time.
