Newton Faulkner announces brand new single “Over and Out” November 29th

‘Rebuilt By Humans’ debuts at Number 3!

Following his second album ‘Rebuilt By Humans’ going straight in at number 1 on iTunes, and number 3 in the album charts, Newton Faulkner announces his brand new single “Over And Out” set to be released on November 29, 2009.

Watch Over and Out video:

Although he has only just embarked on his current sold out tour, he has also announced a new must-see 14-date UK tour, starting in Galway on 27th February 2010 and finishing at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on 17th March 2010. Tickets went on sale Friday 9th October.

‘Rebuilt By Humans’ is the follow-up to his debut album, the Number 1, million-selling ‘Hand Built By Robots’ – which spent over 10 months inside the Top 40 Album Chart, and became one of the Top 20 Biggest Selling UK digital albums of all time, producing massive hit singles like “Dream Catch Me”, which spent an outstanding 43 Weeks in the Top 100.

There’s a good reason why the Brit-nominated the acoustic-guitar virtuoso Newton Faulkner’s second album is called ‘Rebuilt By Humans’. At the start of this year, the singer-songwriter broke his wrist in France and dislocated his entire right hand. Faulkner nearly lost the movement in his hand and after a series of painful procedures by French medics and a career saving operation at home in the UK, Newton was successfully rebuilt by humans and within days was back doing what he loves most, playing his guitar as taught by the legendary Eric Roche.

Newton says, “I wanted to avoid the classic second album thing of complaining about how great things have gone and all the hard work. I had brilliant fun making this album, and hopefully it sounds that way”.

Thanks to the fans and to the doctors, Newton Faulkner is back on the live circuit and can’t be missed.

There’s a good reason why Newton Faulkner’s second album is called ‘Rebuilt By Humans’.

Produced by Mike Spencer, Newton Faulkner’s beautiful voice ranges from bluesy croon to falsetto howl and it hasn’t sounded better.

First single “If This Is It” was one of the earliest songs Newton wrote for the new album – a euphoric hymn to the joys of gigging. “If This Is It” was written in a basement flat behind Harrods in Knightsbridge – a location chosen precisely because he knew no one who lived round there. He applied this limiting logic to the recording of ‘Rebuilt By Humans’ – recorded in a tiny room under the stairs at London’s Miloco studio, there was just enough room for Faulkner and Mike Spencer, and no distractions. And the results are phenomenal.

Newton says “I wanted to avoid the classic second album thing of complaining about how great things have gone and all the hard work. I had brilliant fun making this album, and hopefully it sounds that way. That’s another reason why If This Is It is great for the first single: hopefully it comes across as quite grateful. Because I am grateful”.

Thanks to the fans and to the doctors, Newton Faulkner is back -even if he may be part metal these days.

Introducing the new compilation album which takes some of the best singer/songwriter tracks ever produced and brings decades of music together on one complete album.

‘Singer’ is the latest compilation from Sony BMG and features a fresh and eclectic mix of acoustic, soul, jazz, blues and pop singer/songwriter classics to our ears. ‘Singer’ is set for UK release September 1st, 2008.

Whatever the decade, the British public has always had a constant love affair for classic singer/songwriter hits. This compilation now celebrates that with a great mix of old and new.

From classics including Annie Lennox’s smash hit “Why”, “Wild is in the Wind” by David Bowie, Bob Dylan’s “Baby, Stop Crying” and Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, to more recent modern day hits including Amy Winehouse’s “Love is a Losing Game”, Newton Faulkner’s haunting version of “Teardrop”, and the soulful melody of Jeff Buckley’s “Hallelujah”, the album is two CDs of pure music heaven. There really is something to suit every musical taste.

The best singer/songwriter album to hit the shelves for a long time, this carefully selected compilation will take you on a musical journey through the years.

“Soundtrack to the Summer” – Observer Music Monthly

The UK’s most successful new singer-songwriter, Newton Faulkner, goes into summer 2008 with the release of his latest single “Gone in the Morning” on July 7th, 2008 through Ugly Truth Records.

A massive live favourite, “Gone in the Morning” is the perfect summer anthem-in-waiting, ideal for beach, picnic or garden with its infectious chorus, supersharp vocals and rolling bassline.

Watch “Gone in the Morning” video

The single is the latest track to be taken from Newton’s spectacularly successful Number One & Double Platinum debut album, ‘Hand Built By Robots’, which has so far sold 700,000 copies in the UK alone.

23 year old Newton has also started spreading the word globally with his first North American and European live dates – a highlight being an especially exciting performance that took place in a hot air balloon high over the Swiss Alps. Meanwhile his recent US sell-out shows have been watched by none other than Kings of Leon (in Nashville) and Scarlett Johansson (NYC).

After a series of successful festival shows in 2007, Newton comes back to play bigger stages at several key UK festivals this summer including Glastonbury (Other and Acoustic stages), Isle of Wight Festival, T in the Park and V 2008. He also plays various international festivals including Oxygen in Ireland and Lollapalooza & Bonnaroo in the US.

A genuine British grass roots success story, Newton is a true DIY phenomenon with Myspace plays now approaching an amazing 2.5 million.

London singer-songwriter Jont’s unique video series, “The House We’re In” has captured the imagination of thousands of YouTube viewers, already receiving nearly 220,000 views and Most Viewed Video after just 3 episodes released in as many weeks.

The viral phenomena that has spread across the world follows Jont around the UK as he hosts his ‘Unlit’ nights in his MySpace friends’ houses.

Jont’s original concept of Unlit is a hybrid of a house party and a gig, which he has been curating in his Myspace fan’s houses across the world for five years, in which time he has unearthed Tom Baxter, The Duke Spirit, Newton Faulkner, Derek Meins and Sam Sparro. His Louis Theroux commentary and the magic intimacy of audience and artist has created an alternative “Later With Jools.”

“The House We’re In” is released on Youtube every Tuesday. Episode 4 out this week.

The DVD will be available on general release from all good retailers from 14 April, 2008.

However, there is limited availability for The Fratellis and an evening of comedy with Noel Fielding and more exciting acts.

The TCT gigs were the brainchild of The Who’s Roger Daltrey CBE, patron of Teenage Cancer Trust, who has, over the last eight years, persuaded the best of British talent available across rock, pop and comedy to give up their time to raise money for this unique charity.

Each day in the UK, 6 teenagers will be diagnosed with cancer – that is over 2,000 diagnoses per year. TCT funds specialist teenage units in NHS hospitals, providing an environment where teenagers can get on with being teenagers, a positive environment expected to improve survival rates and ensure a better future for patients and their families.

The UK’s most successful new singer-songwriter, Newton Faulkner, releases his brand new single “I Need Something” on March 31st, 2008 through Ugly Truth Records. “I Need Something” is a wistful, passionate and throaty vocal twisted around a beautifully soulful melody captivatingly teased out of his acoustic guitar.

The release of “I Need Something” follows the spectacular success of Newton’s #1 and Double Platinum debut album, ‘Hand Built By Robots’, which has so far spent two weeks at #1 on the UK album chart, as well as being a permanent fixture in the iTunes Top Ten since release (including six weeks at No 1). Newton has just been nominated in the Best Male category of the 2008 Brit Awards.

Brandi Carlile needs to be heard. Following her sold-out, London debut at The Borderline in November, the critically acclaimed singer/songwriter is special guest to Newton Faulkner on his forthcoming UK tour.

A self-taught guitarist who combines blues & soul with a nod to Bonnie Raitt, the 26 year-old stateside hit plays 5 nationwide shows, including Camden’s Roundhouse, March 5th, 2008.

Having toured America as special guest to Ray LaMontagne, The Fray, Chris Isaak and Tori Amos, Brandi is a talented artist in her own right.

Produced by legendary Grammy Award winner - T Bone Burnett (Counting Crows, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss), Brandi’s forthcoming LP, released in the UK April 21st on Sony BMG, is already making waves in the US and looks set to be one of the ultimate discoveries of 2008.

A sonic soundscape of honest vocals, organic sounds and arresting delivery, it’s a back-to-basics album that majestically blends raw music with real talent. Highlights include the forthcoming single “Turpentine” set for release on April 14th – which featured in the smash-hit US show ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ – plus “Cannonball”, which was recorded in Atlanta with The Indigo Girls.

Newton Faulkner is set to release his cover of Massive Attack’s “Teardrop”, off of his debut album, ‘Hand Built By Robots’ on December 10, 2007.

The first time that I heard the name Newton Faulkner, for some reason I pictured an older conservative type with short hair, playing music that wouldn’t excite.

I was way off. Newton Faulkner is a young, twenty-something with dreads, soulful vocals, catchy tunes and is a brilliant guitarist. That’s what I found out when I first watched the video for his single, “UFO”.

Newton Faulkner is indeed making a name for himself, with a steadily growing fan base, a #1 platinum album and sell-out UK tours. It’s interesting that he would choose to go for a cover of someone else’s song, after the success he’s had with his own original releases. Some might say it’s a daring move, and loyal Massive Attack fans may not be as receptive to Newton’s “Teardrop” – at first.

I’ve been listening to Newton’s version for the last few days. He’s done such a good rendition of the song, that I found it difficult remembering the original, and actually think it sounds more like a Crosby, Stills and Nash song with a modern twist, than Massive Attack’s own version from 1998.

Watch Newton Faulkner – “Teardrop” video:

It’s amazing what Newton has done with the song. He’s given it a rustic feel and great harmonies.

If you played his acoustic version from his live shows for someone who wasn’t familiar with it (there are quite a few live “Teardrop” performances on YouTube), I bet they would find it easy to believe that it could be something from the late 60’s, Woodstock era.

Newton Faulkner – Teardrop on amazon.co.uk

Newton’s live shows are highly recommended!

Shows for 2008 are already beginning to sell out, so if you want to go, book early!

The UK’s most successful new singer-songwriter, Newton Faulkner, releases his brand new single “Teardrop” on December 10th, 2007 through Ugly Truth Records. A classic winter-warmer, “Teardrop” is a starkly beautiful, and utterly unique, take on the Massive Attack song and shows both Newton’s magnificent voice and guitar versatility at their mesmerizing best.

The release of “Teardrop” follows the spectacular success of Newton’s Number One & Platinum debut album, ‘Hand Built By Robots’, which has so far spent two weeks at Number One on the UK album chart, as well as being a permanent fixture in the iTunes Top Ten since release (including five weeks at No1).

“Teardrop” comes hot on the heels of Newton’s last two singles, “Dream Catch Me” and “All I Got” which is currently riding high inside the UK Airplay Chart Top Ten.

A true DIY phenomenon (Myspace plays now well over 1 million) Newton has become a genuine grass roots success story as his sell-out EP’s, headline dates and support slots have gathered new fans and rave reviews alike. Newton has sold out all dates on his November nationwide tour and has just announced his biggest UK Tour to date through February and March 2008.
