The legendary Paul Weller will play a very special Eden Session on July 10, 2009, further enhancing the line-up of headliners for the 2009 gigs that includes; Kasabian, Razorlight, The Kooks and the rescheduled sell-out Oasis show.

This very special Eden show for the Prince’s Rainforests Project (PRP) in association with EDF Energy, and is part of a broader programme of joint EDF Energy and Eden initiatives which are being launched this year to encourage collective action in the fight against climate change.

The 2009 Eden Sessions headliners are:
JULY 4th – Kasabian
JULY 9th – Razorlight
JULY 10th – Paul Weller
JULY 14th – Oasis (sold out)
JULY 18th – The Kooks

With this years line up The Eden Sessions have cemented their reputation for showcasing some of the world’s finest live acts having previously played host to the likes of Kaiser Chiefs, Muse, KT Tunstall, The Raconteurs, Vampire Weekend, The Verve, Amy Winehouse, Goldfrapp, Basement Jaxx, Snow Patrol and Editors. All the gigs include an impressive supporting bill to be announced very soon.

Tickets are on sale now, priced at £35 per ticket per show, plus a £5 booking fee per ticket. To book, call the Eden box office on 01726 811972 or visit http://www.edenbookings.com

** Sessions tickets also entitle the ticket holder entry to the Eden Project, either on the day of the concert or the day after **

HRH The Prince of Wales set up the PRP in 2007, in order to build awareness about the need to slow the rate of tropical deforestation to prevent catastrophic climate change. This gig will raise public awareness about the link between rainforests and climate change and encourage people to sign up to the PRP’s high-profile awareness campaign.

The PRP has developed a proposal for emergency funding to help protect rainforests and to encourage rainforest nations to continue to develop without the need for deforestation. Following a very significant meeting of world leaders convened by HRH The Prince of Wales, an international working group has now been set up to examine this ‘Emergency Package’ along with other proposals.

People can sign up to the PRP campaign at The Prince’s Rainforests Project Official Website

Peter Hampel, Eden’s Creative Director, said: “This concert is a really exciting addition to the 2009 Eden Sessions line-up and we are delighted to be drawing attention to the vital work of The Prince’s Rainforests Project. We are really grateful for the support of EDF Energy to enable us to host what will be an amazing night of music from one of the world’s most respected and enduring artists.”

As the founding member of Ocean Colour Scene he has penned some of the 90’s definitive hits such as “The Riverboat Song”, “The Day We Caught The Train” and “Hundred Mile High City” which have become engrained into British Culture as the theme tune to the Chris Evans fronted TFI Friday and signature song in Guy Ritches ‘Lock Sock & Two Smoking Barrels’.

With his debut solo album, Steve has grafted 10 beautiful laments about love, life, loss and the union of marriage. Tracks such as “Running Away”, “Beware of Falling rocks” and “Ask the sound” showcase what a talent he is, exposing the vulnerability and innocence of young love.

The album features Paul Weller on vocals on a couple of the tracks and 12 string guitar on “Paint Your Picture”.

Tickets to the April 2008 gigs at the Royal Albert Hall are now on sale and are proving to be as in-demand as ever with Muse, Paul Weller and Duffy selling out within hours.

However, there is limited availability for The Fratellis and an evening of comedy with Noel Fielding and more exciting acts.

The TCT gigs were the brainchild of The Who’s Roger Daltrey CBE, patron of Teenage Cancer Trust, who has, over the last eight years, persuaded the best of British talent available across rock, pop and comedy to give up their time to raise money for this unique charity.

Each day in the UK, 6 teenagers will be diagnosed with cancer – that is over 2,000 diagnoses per year. TCT funds specialist teenage units in NHS hospitals, providing an environment where teenagers can get on with being teenagers, a positive environment expected to improve survival rates and ensure a better future for patients and their families.

With the first two albums selling over 350k copies between them, UMTV have put together another brilliant album of the best songs of the year – ‘Essential Songs 2008′, set for release in the UK on 3rd December 2007.

Now that the end of the year is in sight, it’s time to sit back and reminisce about the good times of 2007 and get ready to see in the New Year. What better way to do this than by listening to the biggest essential songs of the year?

The track list reads like a who’s who of pop royalty. From the shiny new, to the classic greats. Starting with the come back kings Take That and their massive new hit “Rule The World” (from the hit movie Stardust), moving onto the collaboration between modern day diva Amy Winehouse and superstar producer Mark Ronson with the track “Valerie”. With new blood from the Coronation Street heartthrob Richard Fleeshman, and classics from legends Oasis, The Cranberries and Paul Weller, CD 1 really does have something for everyone.

The second CD opens with the exclusive of pop prince Mika’s new track “Happy Ending” and carries on with an eclectic mix of songs from artists old and new, with girl power being added by Feist and her catchy “1234″ and Mutya Buena with “Real Girl”.

If that isn’t enough to entice you, ‘Essential Songs – 2008′ also includes tracks from some of the finest artists in the world including The Killers, Nelly Furtado, Embrace and Pop royalty Elton John.
