There were some pretty funny sketches that lasted until early morning, and today I'm paying for staying up so late! It was worth it, though. The great thing is that Comic Relief has, at the time of this writing, so far raised £40,236,142 and I'm sure after all of the outstanding entertainment for Red Nose Day the number will continue to grow.

A few sketches for Comic Relief stood out for me and as I mentioned before, I was looking forward to seeing the video of Peter Kay and Matt Lucas perform "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" with the Proclaimers and many guest stars in the audience.

The video features Peter Kay and Matt Lucas on stage, singing The Proclaimers hit song, "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)". Peter Kay is in character as wheelchair-bound Brian Potter from his show Phoenix Nights, and Matt Lucas plays what I would think is his most famous character from Little Britain, wheelchair-bound Andy Pipkin from the Lou and Andy sketch.

The guest stars in the audience watching them include Dr. Who's David Tennant (in a kilt), Dusty Bin, Basil Brush, The Krankies, Status Quo, Terry Nutkins, Paul O'Grady, Tess Daly, Louis Walsh, Bobby Davro, Postman Pat, Rod, Jane and Freddy (Rainbow), Willie Thorne, Bob the Builder and many more.

It was funny but it seems a bit more low key than the Peter Kay/Tony Christie and guests' "Is This The Way To Amarillo" video from 2005. I have a feeling though, that it will get funnier the more I watch it!

The song will be released as a charity single in the UK for Red Nose Day 2007 for Comic Relief. This will follow the re-release of Tony Christie's "Is This The Way To Amarillo" set to Peter Kay's popular Comic Relief video in 2005.

According to Bolton News, the video for "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" will include "Showaddywaddy, Paul O'Grady, The Krankies, Dave Lee Travis, Bonnie Langford, Peter Waterman, Tony Blackburn, a David Beckham lookalike, Tess Daly, Louis Walsh, Clare Grogan, Status Quo, Bill Odie, Kathy Staff, Des Lynam and The Proclaimers." I also read an interview with Scottish actor David Tennant who plays the current Doctor Who, that he will also make an appearance in the 500 Miles Comic Relief Video.

This is great news for all of you Peter Kay and Matt Lucas fans. I'm not sure if people outside of the UK are familiar with either of them, but here in England they are loved for their hilarious comedy.

Some of Peter Kay's TV shows have included That Peter Kay Thing (2000), Phoenix Nights (2001 - 2002), Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere (2004), recently an appearance in Doctor Who and of course his stand-up comedy. The most memorable scene in Phoenix Nights for me was when Jerry St Clair (Dave Spikey) sang the "Come and get your black bin bags" song, sung to the Men in Black theme tune!

Matt Lucas is most famous for starring alongside David Walliams in their comedy sketch show Little Britain. The first time I remember seeing Matt Lucas since I've been living in England, was before Little Britain, when he would dress up as a giant baby, sitting behind a drum kit on the TV show Shooting Stars a few years ago.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing Matt Lucas and Peter Kay's version of 500 Miles. I'm sure the video will be funny, and of course the money raised goes to a great cause, Comic Relief.
