We’re off in Europe right now doing the festival circuit, but we just got footage back from our summer show in Philadelphia. Definitely a tour highlight, we played outside at Festival Pier along the river this summer while on tour with Rancid. We barely managed to finish most of the set before the sky opened up and poured rain on the 5000 fans who were barely phased by it. A band renowned for their single-minded political outlook, ‘Appeal To Reason’ is an embodiment of the band’s feelings about the world around them. Nowhere is this more greatly channelled than on forthcoming single, “Re-education (Through Labour)” – a powerful statement against the use of sweat-shops in the modern world supported by a controversial, hard edged video.

The influences of Rise Against are plain to see; the snarling, scathing commentaries on the world are a return to the days of the anti-movement leaders Black Flag, with the unhinged, heavy rhythms plainly evident on ‘Appeal To Reason’ reminiscent of Nirvana.

Never has the Rise Against message been more powerful – ‘Appeal To Reason’ is their rock manifesto – a statement of intent and a powerful message to the world.

MySpace Music announces that one of the most respected names in punk rock Rise Against will be playing a club show at TT The Bears in Boston on October 7, 2008 as part of MySpace’s Secret Show series.

The Secret Show is a free, exclusive performance for the MySpace community. Rise Against and MySpace are asking fans to donate food which will go The Greater Boston Food Bank for entry into the show. The band has also partnered with Peta2 for the show who will be distributing literature inside the show.

This is the first ever Secret Show in which MySpace have partnered with a charity. After talking with the band, the program realized this was the perfect band to do this with and an incredible way to kick off the release of their new album.

For their fifth studio album, ‘Appeal To Reason,’ Rise Against teamed up with Bill Stevenson (Black Flag, Descendants) and Jason Livermore to record at the Blasting Room in Ft. Collins, CO – the same production team and studio used for “The Sufferer & the Witness” and “Revolutions Per Minute.” First single “Re-Education (Through Labor)” is already a top 5 Modern Rock hit.

Rise Against are vocalist Tim McIlrath, bassist Joe Principe, drummer Brandon Barnes and guitarist Zach Blair. In spring 2001, the band released their debut CD ‘The Unraveling’ on Fat Wreck Chords. After two years of solid touring, Rise Against recorded Revolutions Per Minute (2002), followed by Siren Song Of The Counter Culture produced by Gggarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Melvins, Sick Of It All). The Greater Boston Food Bank’s mission is to help end hunger in eastern Massachusetts. To achieve its mission, The Food Bank feeds more than 320,000 people annually in nine counties in eastern Massachusetts.

Patty- How has Warped Tour gone so far?

Brandon- It’s been great, it’s been big crowds, we’ve had great sets, it’s been a long hot month but we are halfway done.

Patty- What do you guys do when you aren’t performing?

Brandon- We’ve got a bunch of our friends out here; Bouncing Souls, No Effects, Against me. At night we have a BBQ, hang out with our friends and try to relax.

Patty- Have you guys been writing music lately?

Brandon-We have a new record, it came out July 4th, “The Sufferer and The Witness.” It’s our fourth record and we are really proud of it. The first single is “Ready to Fall”.

Tim-A lot of that song is about being on the road and being in a band and the sacrifices you make to do what you love to do.

Patty- What are your plans for the band?

Tim-We are going to finish Warped Tour and then tour all year.

Patty- What do you do when you aren’t touring?

Brandon- I try to relax and spend time with my family. We’re not home much so most of our time home we go off on our own paths and try to relax.
