NASCAR Media Group and Virgin Records rock quartet Saving Abel have announced that the music video for the band’s third single from their gold certified self-titled debut album will debut exclusively on Yahoo! on Thursday, April 30th.

The NASCAR-themed video for “Drowning (Face Down)” stars NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Jeremy Mayfield as an aspiring racer who makes great sacrifices for a chance to compete at the highest level. The driver has no sponsor and no endorsement deals, but pushes forward through all obstacles in pursuit of his racing dreams.

“It was awesome and I can’t wait until it comes out,” said Jeremy Mayfield, who finished 32nd during Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. “Just being a part of that was just cool for me. Those guys are great guys and I’m glad to see them coming up. I didn’t really know them that well until we did the video and they have a lot of fun. It’s funny how our story kind of fit their song and worked perfect for their video.”

A five-time Sprint Cup race winner, Mayfield hasn’t had a full-time ride in more than two years and decided to start his own team a month before the 2009 season began. Mirroring the music video’s theme, Mayfield has started three races this year, including racing his way into the Daytona 500, and is trying to recapture some of his past successes.

“We had a blast shooting the ‘Drowning (Face Down)’ video with Jeremy Mayfield and the other NASCAR drivers as we’re all big NASCAR fans,” said Saving Abel frontman Jared Weeks. “We especially love how Jeremy’s real life story mirrors the character he plays in the video.”

Parts of the music video were shot at Bristol Motor Speedway, as well as Mayfield Motorsports in Harrisburg, N.C., and it features cameos by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Carl Edwards, Martin Truex Jr., Brian Vickers and Clint Bowyer.

Saving Abel’s self-titled debut album was recently certified gold by the RIAA. The platinum single “Addicted” had an extraordinary run as 2008’s most-played song at active rock radio, with 11 consecutive weeks at No. 2 in the format, and a No. 1 posting at mainstream rock radio and No. 7 at alternative.

The song also had a powerful, months-long afterburn on mainstream Top 40 and Hot AC radio, hitting the top 10 in both formats. The follow-up ballad, honoring our nation’s troops, “18 Days,” is a top 5 hit at active rock, top 10 at alternative radio. “Drowning (Face Down)” is rocketing up the charts at both active rock radio, currently at #13 and alternative radio where it is in the top 30.

Saving Abel is currently on the road playing some shows with Shinedown before returning to arenas with rock giants Nickelback for the second leg of their current outing beginning July 10th in Darien Center, NY. Saving Abel’s 18 Days Tour Ep which features an acoustic version of “18 Days” and two b-sides is available now exclusively at iTunes.

NASCAR Media Group, which also produced the O.A.R. music video for “Right on Time” starring Dale Earnhardt Jr., recently announced a partnership with BET to develop a new program called “Changing Lanes” that will spotlight up and coming drivers and those supporting them behind the scenes. Other past projects have included the critically-acclaimed feature length movie DALE, the only authorized documentary about racing icon Dale Earnhardt and produced in partnership with CMT Films, and the Emmy Award-winning Quest for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, a television series offering a past-paced, up-close HD look at the 12 drivers competing in NASCAR’s playoffs.

A year after the release of their self-titled debut album, Virgin Records rock quartet Saving Abel’s music is a proven staple of every rock and mainstream radio format, and the band has sealed their arrival with a platinum single, “Addicted,” and a gold album certified by RIAA.

Saving Abel’s first gold album award was presented to Saving Abel backstage last weekend at New Jersey’s IZOD Center where they played with Seether and Nickelback.

Saving Abel on amazon.com

Saving Abel and Nickelback and have confirmed the extension of their tour dates together along with Papa Roach and Hinder on the second leg of the tour beginning July 10, 2009 in Darien Lake, NY. Saving Abel also has added new headline dates along with a string of co-headline dates with Shinedown in late spring (full schedule below).

The follow-up ballad, honoring our nation’s troops, “18 Days,” is a top 5 hit at active rock, top 10 at alternative radio and is progressing in the Top 40 and Hot AC charts. A new single, “Drowning (Face Down)” arrives at active rock radio this week, and a video shoot is planned this month.

Saving Abel have been kings of the road for a good year: they’ve combined old-school touring with new technology by awarding a custom Saving Abel PRS (Paul Reed Smith) guitar at each stop of the Nickelback tour to a fan who texts the band from the room during their set. Aside from confirming the second leg of the Nickelback tour for July to September, and separate dates with Seether in May through June, Saving Abel is also playing such marquee festivals as Beale Street, Rock on the Range and several stops on the Crawfish Boil.

Saving Abel was 3-weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart before debuting on the national Billboard Top 200 album chart in July 2008. Saving Abel’s videos drew major exposure on MTV2, VH1, FUSE and Music Choice, where “Addicted” was a No.1-played video on the “Hit List” channel.

Saving Abel – named after the Biblical sibling of Cain – was formed by Jared Weeks and guitarist Jason Null in 2004 in their hometown of Corinth, Mississippi. Now based in Memphis, Tennessee, the band’s lineup includes guitarist Scott Bartlett, bassist Eric Taylor and drummer Blake Dixon. Combining influences of southern rock, hard rock and alternative music, the band was first heard on a 2005 EP, produced by Skidd Mills (12 Stones, Saliva, Submersed).

After spending the summer opening for some of the biggest names in rock music, Virgin Records rock-quintet Saving Abel have announced that they will open for the biggest names in politics, playing at the first Obama / McCain Presidential debate on September 26, 2008 at the University of Mississippi.

The free show which begins at 12:00pm also includes Paul Thorn, Josh Kelley and the North Mississippi Allstars. Saving Abel will make a pit-stop at the U of M to play the pre-debate show before their gig at Big Spring Jam in Huntsville, AL that evening, part of their current outing with Buckcherry and Shinedown (full schedule below).

“We’re excited to play at the debate and show our support for the election process as we believe that the outcome will truly affect the lives of all Americans,” said frontman Jared Weeks.

Undoubtedly one of the biggest new rock bands of 2008, Saving Abel have been steadily climbing radio and sales charts all year and they show no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Their debut single, the run-away, multi-format, smash-hit “Addicted” has been heard on radio airwaves for 30 weeks and continues to work its way up the charts. It spent 4 weeks at #1 at mainstream rock radio, was #2 for 10 consecutive weeks at active rock radio and peaked at #7 on the alternative chart.

“Addicted” has found a whole new life as Top 40 radio gets hooked, where it is currently #21 on the airplay chart and quickly moving upward. The single impacts that Adult Top 40 format on Sep. 30th. The sultry video for “Addicted” which made its debut on playboy.com is also enjoying multi-format success. The clip has seen airplay on MTV2, Fuse, and Music Choice and was recently added to the play list of MTV’s pop channel MTV Hits.

Saving Abel’s second single is a monster ballad entitled “18 Days” and it is beginning to follow in its predecessor’s footsteps. In a few short weeks of airplay at active rock radio, it is currently ranked #24 and was one of the most added songs at alternative radio last week when it officially impacted at the format.

Saving Abel’s self-titled debut also continues to reach new chart peaks. Since its March 11th release, the album spent 3 consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart before debuting on the Billboard 200 in July. The album hit a new high this week at #53 on the chart and has scanned over 160,000 units. “Addicted” has sold over 435,000 digital singles and holds its highest chart position to date this week, jumping from #48 to #38 on the singles chart.

Virgin Records southern rock quintet Saving Abel, currently on a summer-long tour with Puddle of Mudd, will rock on into the fall. The band will join hard-rockers Shinedown to support co-headliners Avenged Sevenfold and Buckcherry on the road in a series running from mid-September to the first week of October (full schedule below). In that leg of the tour, Saving Abel will make one hometown appearance, for Memphis radio station WMFS.

Saving Abel’s unstoppable debut hit, “Addicted,” continues to be one of the most durable and broad-based songs in the rock radio of summer 2008: it has been bulleting for a solid 10 weeks at #2 at active rock radio, and also reached #2 on mainstream rock, while bulleting to #8 at alternative rock. The track is currently proving its crossover durability as it begins climbing the chart at Top 40 radio.

Meanwhile, the “Addicted” video is currently in rotation on MTV2’s viewer-playlisted You Rock the Deuce program and Elite 8, and is #2 on Fuse.TV’s Number 1 Countdown Rock listing.

The Skiddco/Virgin debut album SAVING ABEL is also hitting new chart peaks in its third month of release. It was #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers listing for 3 consecutive weeks, as well as the Nielsen Soundscan new artist album chart. The album marked its highest position on the Billboard 200 last week, climbing to #98.

Avenged Sevenfold’s Hopeless/Warner Bros. self-titled album debuted at No. 4 in Billboard’s Top 200, and 15, Buckcherry’s Eleven Seven/Atlantic platinum album continues to chart nationally after an extraordinary 15-month run so far.

Virgin Records southern rock quintet Saving Abel, currently conquering a wide swath of rock radio with the winningly uninhibited first single, “Addicted,” will be bringing their hard-playing, hard-partying sound all around the country, with the announcement of a two-month series of tour dates with Puddle of Mudd, kicking off in early July 2008.

Since the March release of the band’s self-titled Skiddco/Virgin debut album, the featured track “Addicted” has zoomed to the No. 2 position nationally at active rock radio, also rising in the Top 10 at mainstream rock, and the Top 20 at the alternative rock format. The Saving Abel album, increasing in sales in each of its four weeks of release, has also charted at No. 2 in Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart of developing artists. They are the Clear Channel radio chain’s New! rock band of the month.

Online, the Saving Abel MySpace.com page has amassed over 1.2 million song streams, increasing by thousands daily. A special unrated version of the “Addicted” video premiered on Playboy.com in March! The video reached #5 on the iTunes video chart and buzz has also followed the band as frontman Jared Weeks has been reported to be dating Spike TV Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling star Angelina Love.

Saving Abel, named after the Biblical sibling of Cain, was formed by Jared Weeks and guitarist Jason Null in 2004 in their hometown of Corinth, Mississippi. Now based in Memphis, Tennessee, the band’s complete lineup includes guitarist Scott Bartlett, bassist Eric Taylor and drummer Blake Dixon.

Combining influences of southern rock, hard rock and mainstream alternative music with an irresistible, rowdy work-hard, play-hard attitude, the band’s first break came in 2005, when Skidd Mills (12 Stones, Saliva, Submersed) produced their self-titled EP.
