Person L, the new band from The Starting Line’s lead singer/songwriter Kenneth Vasoli, will release its debut album, ‘Initial’, on August 5th, 2008 via Vasoli’s own imprint, Human Interest.

The band – which features Kenneth Vasoli on lead guitar and vocals, Ryan Zimmaro and Brian Medlin on drums and percussion, Charles Schnieder on bass and Nathaniel Vaeth on Rhodes piano and guitar – will be the direct support for Anthony Green (Circa Survive) on his upcoming tour, which launches August 6th, 2008 (See full itinerary below). Preorder Initial.

With ‘Initial’, Vasoli steps away from The Starting Line’s melodic punk legacy and draws from a broader palette, resulting in an adventurous album that not only pushes the envelope – it licks and seals it.

Spin.com recently praised the band’s “expansive, explorative set” at the 2008 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in a home page feature that included a backstage interview and snippet of Person L’s performance.

Grateful for The Starting Line’s success, from its 2002 debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart through two subsequent albums Top 30 albums on The Billboard 200, sold-out tours of four continents and over 700,000 records sold, Vasoli was looking for a way create the music he wanted to on his own terms and benefit others in the process. So he bypassed the major labels in favor of founding his own label, Human Interest, which he decided would donate a portion of the proceeds from each record sold to human-interest charities.

The digital album will be available through the band’s webstore and at iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, EMusic and numerous other digital retailers. Physical copies will be sold at shows and at the band’s webstore.

The track listing for Initial is as follows:

2. Holy Hell

The Jet Age remixes new Wedding Present single; launches national summer tour to promote stark and dark protest album ‘What Did You Do During the War, Daddy?’

While preparing for an upcoming nationwide tour to promote the latest album by The Jet Age, band leader Eric Tischler was commissioned to remix the lead track for The Wedding Present’s first ever download-only single “The Thing I Like Best About Him Is His Girlfriend” from the band’s upcoming album ‘El Rey’. Four different versions of the song (three recorded by Steve Albini) including Tischler’s mix are now available via your favorite download stores.

A powerful album for any rock lover, The Jet Age’s ‘What Did You Do During the War, Daddy?’ was conceived as the soundtrack to an imaginary musical in three acts that asks what our responsibility is, as citizens, when our government is out of control.

The Jet Age is racking up the love with recent features as SPIN’s “Band of The Day”, an 8.0 rating on Pitchfork, and constant plays on KEXP, Seattle. And it’s no surprise: With the upcoming election, everyone’s attention is focused on politics. And how better to express oneself than in a three part rock musical about the dramatic failings of our political system?

See The Jet Age perform ‘What Did You Do During the War, Daddy?’ in its entirety on the road this summer.

What Did You Do During the War, Daddy? tracklisting:

1. Ladies, Don’t Cry Tonight
2. If I Had You Then, I’d Still Want You Now
3. Dance
4. O, Calendar (MP3 above)
5. Shake
6. Dumb
7. I Said, “Alright”
8. Now We Are Three
9. False Idols (MP3 above)
10. Maybe Love’s a Transmission
11. Ladies… (Reprise)

“Good songs played by a straightforward rock trio will always find their way into people’s playlists, regardless of what’s big at the moment. 8.0″ – Pitchfork

“What Did You Do During the War, Daddy? deconstructs the helplessness and anguish associated with citizens forced to sit idly by as the country spins out of control. Not bad for a band that’s situated right in Bush’s backyard.” – SPIN.com

Tilly and The Wall are a busy bunch these days. Their third album that’s been two years-in-waiting is finally released June 17th, 2008.

In even more exciting news, Tilly and The Wall recently performed in a music video acquired by Sesame Street to use in their upcoming 39th season set to air in the fall of 2008. The band recorded their own version of the “ABC Song,” and the result is nothing short of magical. The new album, produced by the acclaimed Mike Mogis, has no title. It could be called O because its cover is just that: an oval-shaped frame for the artwork that will go inside of it.

O will have limited edition runs of handmade prints available by different artists that will act as the record’s cover, giving the band’s fans a unique piece of art for both their album and their walls.

This week you’ll be able to stream the full album at Spinner and you can also stream the album and check out some of the various album art submitted by artists in the O E-CARD.

SPIN.com recently made Tilly and The Wall their “Artist of The Day”, sharing some exclusive insight into the sounds of the new album straight from male singer Derek Presnall:

“Textures abound under the Mogis helm. Jamie Pressnall’s tap fills thunder over conventional drums, and oodles of guitar effects support electronic tinkerings and vocal overdubs. Case in point: “Pot Kettle Black.” “[We were] naturally going in a way to try and make it more one kind of sound,” Derek Pressnall, also of Flowers Forever, told SPIN.com. “We were consciously thinking about how we want to have drums, taps, and electronics all happening at once, without you thinking there’s drums, taps, and electronic beats all going on at once.” Trickery indeed, but sonic deception never sounded so good.” – SPIN.com

Tilly and The Wall have also unveiled their new feisty single “Pot Kettle Black” and premiered the music video to it on Stereogum.com. The video was directed by Omaha native Alan Tanner. Prior to this, Alan also directed Tilly and The Wall’s video of “Rainbows In The Dark,” and The Good Life’s “Heartbroke.”

Here’s what he had to say about the concept behind it: “The idea for the video was to reference some of our favorite music videos from the 80’s and early 90’s. The band is shown playing at a few different events around Omaha, NE and Council Bluffs, IA. The video was a lot of fun to make and everyone who allowed us to film at these locations was so nice and very accommodating.” Nick White, keyboardist of Tilly and The Wall, elaborates on the concept, “We were thinking Beastie Boys’ ‘Sabotage’ meets Go-Go’s ‘Vacation.’”

Watch Pot Kettle Black video:

Download “Pot Kettle Black” MP3

Tilly and The Wall will hit the road in support of the album beginning in July 2008. This time around, the band will performing as a seven-piece to fill the sound at the venues and in your hearts. Check out the full tour dates below. Auckland, New Zealand’s The Ruby Suns will be joining them at the end of July and into early August.

O is the sort of album that will remind you why you fell for Tilly and The Wall in the first place. Pick up a copy direct from Team Love.

Download “Cacophony” MP3

What the blogs are saying about O:

“…the sights and sounds on ‘Pot Kettle Black’ are a bit more streetwise. Like, literally: the troupe pounds the pavement (again, literally) in Omaha, NE and Council Bluffs, IA, playing on street corners, walking through the ‘burbs, and paying homage to old videos. The song comes from the band’s forthcoming O album (no relation, Damien Rice), and is a good sample of they’re promising a sound meshing all sorts of percussion — taps, drums, electronic beats.” – Stereogum

“‘Pot Kettle Black’ is just tailor made for Mean Girls. It’s punchy, catchy and points out that girl talk usually comes full circle. However, since that movie has already come and gone, they’ll have to wait until some teenage comedy gets enough of a brain to appeal to pretty much everyone. Maybe don’t hold your breath on that one, Tilly. Until then you can enjoy the cheerleader on acid chorus and picture your friends talking behind your back.” – You Ain’t No Picasso

“‘Pot Kettle Black’ sounds like Jamie Pressnall traded her tap shoes for some heavy boots and Tilly is looking to start a knife fight.” – Brontosaur.us

“Three albums in now, if you still think Tilly and The Wall is just ‘that band with the cute tap dancer’ (though I agree that she’s adorable) well…then you don’t know Tilly…” – Tsuru Radio

O Tracklisting:

1. Tall Tall Grass
2. Pot Kettle Black
3. Cacophony
4. I Found You
5. Alligator Skin
6. Chandelier Lake
7. Dust Me Off

It’s been a big week for Sia! Following months of internet buzz that included strong support from sites ranging from Myspace to Perez Hilton to Rollingstone.com and EW.com, Sia’s new solo release, ’some people have REAL problems’ (Monkey Puzzle Records/Hear Music), has debuted at #26 on the Billboard charts, selling more than 20,000 copies and finishing ahead of fellow press darling Kate Nash. The album also hit #3 on iTunes, and #2 on Rhapsody.

Sia celebrated the album’s release with a performance on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” on January 8, followed by a tour of New York City in a specially designed bus that escorted her to 3 jam-packed performances at The Apple Store (Soho), Virgin Megastore and Starbucks.

Sia will follow all this with a very special performance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on January 25th, 2008 (tune in for a surprise!). Sia will also be featured in an upcoming two-page spread in the February issue of Spin, and a feature in Rolling Stone.

Fans excited for her upcoming North American tour, which kicks off February 15, can also check out exclusive performance videos from her recent show at Hiro Ballroom (NYC) on “AT&T Blue Room.”

Music critics nationwide agree that ’some people have REAL problems’ is one of Sia’s finest:

“…stunning.” – Entertainment Weekly (A-)

“Sia’s Some People Have Real Problems is an exellent soundtrack for a cold January spent bundled up indoors…” – ABC News

“…you’ll want to get caught up in the drama Sia has to offer on her [third] solo cd.” – Associated Press

“From the moment she slips into her [opening track] ‘Little Black Sandals’ she grabs your heart.” – Chicago Tribune

“…a Feist-y, airy crowd-pleaser of jazzy electropop.” – WIRED

’some people have REAL problems’ is a co-release in the U.S. and Canada from Monkey Puzzle Records and Hear Music. The album is available at Starbucks Company-operated locations and traditional music retailers in the U.S. and Canada.
