Camilla Kerslake Unveils Debut Album

21-year-old Camilla Kerslake is creating a real frisson of excitement and anticipation, with her rare, elusive, one-of-a-kind classical voice.

Recently signed to Gary Barlow’s new Future Records label, the future looks incredibly bright for Camilla Kerslake.

Her debut single, “She Moved Through the Fair”, is already being championed by Terry Wogan on Radio 2 while GMTV have a filmed segment ready to roll.

Her debut album (out November 16, 2009) has been produced by the legendary Mike Hedges and features her own impeccable versions of “How Can I Keep From Singing” and “Rule the World” (in Italian) amongst other original songs.

The story of Camilla Kerslake is one that dreams are made of. Only this summer she camped outside a London studio for weeks on end. Inside Take That were recording and Camilla was determined to give Gary the demo tape she had saved up to record.

Her persistence paid off and he eventually listened. “I was instantly captivated by it,” Gary admits. “Her voice is a unique and powerful instrument.”

Google Alert: Camilla Kerslake’s studio video for “Rule The World” (In Italian) has incredibly received over 60,000 hits since its posting last week (September 28th).

With the first two albums selling over 350k copies between them, UMTV have put together another brilliant album of the best songs of the year – ‘Essential Songs 2008′, set for release in the UK on 3rd December 2007.

Now that the end of the year is in sight, it’s time to sit back and reminisce about the good times of 2007 and get ready to see in the New Year. What better way to do this than by listening to the biggest essential songs of the year?

The track list reads like a who’s who of pop royalty. From the shiny new, to the classic greats. Starting with the come back kings Take That and their massive new hit “Rule The World” (from the hit movie Stardust), moving onto the collaboration between modern day diva Amy Winehouse and superstar producer Mark Ronson with the track “Valerie”. With new blood from the Coronation Street heartthrob Richard Fleeshman, and classics from legends Oasis, The Cranberries and Paul Weller, CD 1 really does have something for everyone.

The second CD opens with the exclusive of pop prince Mika’s new track “Happy Ending” and carries on with an eclectic mix of songs from artists old and new, with girl power being added by Feist and her catchy “1234″ and Mutya Buena with “Real Girl”.

If that isn’t enough to entice you, ‘Essential Songs – 2008′ also includes tracks from some of the finest artists in the world including The Killers, Nelly Furtado, Embrace and Pop royalty Elton John.

Who would have thought that Take That would be at #1 in the UK singles and album charts for the third week in a row at such an important time of the year? Ten years after they first broke up in 1996, “Patience” off of their number one album Beautiful World, is their first single since reforming last year. It’s proven to be a come back hit to remember. Their fans have responded in droves by coming out of the woodwork to buy their latest single and keeping it at number one – even without Robbie Williams.

There’s quite a queue in the UK for Christmas number one right now. It will be interesting to see whether Take That will be able to hold their ground or if someone else – possibly X Factor winner Leona Lewis’s “A Moment Like This” single – will knock them off the top of the charts.

In the meantime, watch Take That’s video for their latest #1 single, “Patience”
