The Love Kills Theory will be playing The Annex, 152 Orchard Street (between Rivington and Stanton Streets), NYC on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 10 PM. Admission is $8., and the venue phone is 323-673-3410. The Annex NYC Website.

The Love Kills Theory is a New York City-based punk group, who deals with philosophical and social issues on its debut and current album, HAPPY SUICIDE JIM. Between now and August 31 2007, songs from the album will be added each week for free MP3 downloads for fans who subscribe to the band's newsletter here.

MusicDish is also sponsoring a competition for fans of the Love Kills Theory to write a review of album to win prizes, including a CD signed by the band.

Visit http://www.musicdish.net/tlkt/

Other writers have proclaimed their feelings on HAPPY SUICIDE JIM. CASHBOX's Justin Scro wrote the band is "somewhere between Ween and Zappa...The Love Kills Theory are not a band, but a cult." Opening Band's Joseph M. Pense says, "It's great to see a band so capable of both writing fun songs and lyrically developing them on their own terms."

Neo-Zine's Adam Bernard was so inspired to review the band with, "If music--in general--would take a hint from this band and write like they are doing something worthwhile, the world would be a better and more artistically significant place to live. This is a beautifully odd album," and he is finishing a profile of the group's leader, Cevin Soling for BEYOND RACE magazine.

Cevin Soling, whose first name is pronounced "Kevin," is a New York City-based musician, label owner, filmmaker, writer, world traveler. A&E TV has chosen his song, "Buffalo" by a former band--the Neanderthal Spongecake for the closing credits of their series, CONFESSIONS OF A MATCHMAKER. He runs the record company, Xemu Records, which is experiencing a renaissance of its album, WHEN PIGS FLY, which features unique covers including Don Ho's version of Peter Gabriel's "Shock the Monkey," the Oak Ridge Boys' harmonic rendition of Kansas' "Carry on My Wayward Son," and Lesley Gore's primal belting of AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap."

Soling's current movie DVD is THE WAR ON THE WAR ON DRUGS available through Disinformation, Ltd. This fall he plans on showing a new documentary, THE WAR ON KIDS, about oppression in education at film festivals. In production is JOHN FRUM: HE WILL COME about his adventures as cargo cult Messiah for the people of the Island of Tanna, off the coast of Australia.

***Read a wild interview with Cevin at www.readjunk.com; it includes the question, "If society was perfect, would there be a need for punk rock?"

A punk rock singer in New York is now moonlighting as a deity to the residents of a South Pacific island.

Cevin Soling is the leader of The Love Kills Theory, but is also revered on the South Pacific island of Tanna as the living embodiment of a deity named "John Frum."

Soling became a living God last February when filming a documentary about cargo cults, and took a trip to Tanna, where the residents have been waiting for the arrival of an American named "John Frum" for more than 65 years.

The Tanna-ites believe Frum will bring lots of cargo, so Soling got corporate sponsors to donate fishing equipment, knives and flashlights to give to the Tanna islanders.

It worked better than he expected. The chief of Tanna gave Soling a large plot of land, and allowed him to participate in tribal rituals, including one where his naked body was painted red, white and blue.

Soling just got back from a second visit to Tanna, and is realizing that with great power comes great responsibility because now his adopted tribe is expecting him to get the U.S. to invest in the island.

MusicDish Network, the artist development department of MusicDish LLC, a leading music magazine publisher and marketing firm, announced the addition of New York-based alternative rock band The Love Kills Theory to its roster. MusicDish will provide full online management support, including brand development and marketing, as well as representation at major music conferences such as New Music West 2007, NXNE and Popkomm.

"Like many musicians on our roster, Cevin is a 'renaissance' man, melding musician, writer, filmmaker and artist all into one," noted MusicDish founder Eric de Fontenay. "This is definitely reflected in The Love Kills Theory, which he himself calls 'as much a manifesto as a band'."

The Love Kills Theory is an artistic attempt to bring contemporary philosophy into the mainstream where it can be accessible and relevant. The group is fronted by Cevin Soling, who is also known as the Messiah of Tanna and currently studying philosophy for his Masters degree at Harvard University. The Love Kills Theory is based on an amalgam of the works of Guy Debord, founder of Situationist International, Aldous Huxley, and others, fused with the current bio-genetic studies on the evolution of despair.

The rest of the band is made up of great musicians. Keyboardist, Bill Brandau had been a member of The Vinnie Barbarino Experience. When they broke up, he and Cevin formed Cevin's first band, The Neanderthal Spongecake where Bill also served as engineer on all their recordings. Darren Pilato is a music nerd, who—when he wasn't attending law school—notated bass lines to songs for fun; he's attended Victor Wooten's bass camp in Nashville twice. Jaron Stewart can't stay still; raised by a father who was a successful figure skater, Jaron had a career as a ski-jumper and then focused on his music career, actually gigging one night with "American Pie" songwriter Don McLean. Jim Minics is also a philosopher, and for several years has been thinking and writing his "random thoughts of a practicing beach bum." Jim's 2003 band Minix was a semi-finalist in the Independent Music World Series, and he's played for several bands in the studio and on tours as a lead guitarist and vocalist.

For more information on The Love Kills Theory, visit www.thelovekillstheory.com

The Love Kills Theory joins an eclectic roster of artists under the MusicDish brand, including Haitian American singer/songwriter Karlex; electro-groove artist Polarity/1; calypso-reggae band Kobo Town; urban-pop fusion singer Rose Beach; folk-country artist Amy Speace and drum 'n' bass artist Mashed Buddha.
