The singer/songwriter joined the chorus for select dates in June and July during the first leg of the tour, which made stops in New York, Chicago and Boston among other cities. See tour routing below and visit Simon’s official website to purchase tickets.

Harper is supporting his critically-acclaimed sophomore album Division Street which was released on March 26th via Tulsi/PIAS. Praise for Division Street:

“Abounds with simmering, breezy pop-rock that stands on its own and then some” – Rolling Stone

“Dreamy” – People

“The songs weave the dreamy melancholy of Elliott Smith with twang and steel guitar, and it works, without being cloying.” – American Songwriter

“Division Street has a line-up of guest musicians that reads like a who’s who of groundbreakers in rock” – NOWNESS

“Folk-influenced vocals…love for acoustic guitar and great songwriting.” – Magnet

The Polyphonic Spree

The new album’s title was given to the group by director/filmmaker/artist Mike Mills, whose 2005 film Thumbsucker was scored by the Polyphonic Spree’s Tim DeLaughter.

‘The Fragile Army’ reveals a collection of sonic blasts filtered through The Polyphonic Spree’s trademark sound: an unorthodox blend of brass, strings, choir and auxiliary rock elements. The album explores a search for the zeal in life, by way of loss and frustration, confusion and clarity. Ultimately, the Spree discover the power of love and the collective of hope in songs such as “Running Away,” “Light To Follow” and “Overblow Your Nest.” The album will be in stores in August 2007.

The Polyphonic Spree have also been confirmed to perform on the first show of the new series of Jonathan Ross. They will be performing “Running Away” and the show will air on the 7th September 2007.

If you visit the band’s official site you can also enter a big competition:

You can meet the band and catch them at their first London gig for 3 years at The Astoria.

One lucky winner and a friend will travel to London on the 3rd September, see the band – and overnight accomodation is included!

All you need to do is go here: The Polyphonic Spree Competition and enter your details.
