People are often trying to put together their idea of the best rock group ever, you know like the musical version of a sporting dream team. Well what about Jimi Hendrix and Brian Jones from The Rolling Stones then?

I think if you're talking rock giants there can be no bigger collaboration than these two acts can there? I stumbled across this rare footage while surfing YouTube. It's Jimi hanging out back stage with The Stones on his last birthday at Madison Square Gardens.

The music in the background is Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones, Dave Mason and Mitch Mitchell recorded at the Olympic Studios in London on October 5th 1967, and the tune is called "My Little One".

Watch Jimi Hendrix with the Rolling Stones video:

This footage and music gives me goose bumps. There is no rock bullshit here, just a few musicians hanging out. You know, no big deal. Jimi and The Stones partying and doing what they do.

Living Colour will release their first new studio album in five years entitled 'The Chair In The Doorway' on September 15, 2009 via Megaforce Records.

The legendary downtown NYC rock band, who exploded out of CBGB's in the late '80s, landing all over MTV, the cover of Rolling Stone and stadium stages around the world with their Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum debut album 'Vivid', are back and "fierce" as ever.

Original members Vernon Reid, Corey Glover, Will Calhoun and (since 1993) Doug Wimbish gathered at Sono Studios outside of Prague in The Czech Republic during the fall of 2008 and spring of 2009 to write and record what would become 'The Chair In The Doorway'.

The results stretch from the modern soul anthem "Behind The Sun" to the politically-charged, heavy rock of "DecaDance" to the sacred steel blues of "Bless Those."

The artwork for 'The Chair In The Doorway' was compiled from thousands of contest entries by fans from around the world.

"We feel like this is the best record we've made yet and we couldn't be more excited to be releasing it with the legendary Megaforce Records," says guitarist Vernon Reid. "Some of our favorite bands were or are Megaforce artists, Metallica, Bad Brains, Anthrax, Black Crowes, so it's an honor to be part of a label with a great legacy."

Living Colour will announce plans for a world tour shortly. With dates set to begin in September 2009, it will include their first North American tour in four years along with performances in South America, Europe, Australia and Asia.

Having helped to pave the way for a number of contemporary African-American artists to follow in their wake, ranging from Rage Against The Machine to Lenny Kravitz to Ben Harper, with a multi-dimensional sound that drew equally from Jimi Hendrix, Bad Brains, Talking Heads and Ornette Coleman, the success of Living Colour broke down the color barriers in rock music.

Guitarist and founding member Vernon Reid also founded the Black Rock Coalition to use his influence to further this cause.

Discovered by Mick Jagger who produced their first demo and later offered them an opening slot with The Rolling Stones, Living Colour would go on to create a repertoire that includes a multitude of classic songs, including "Cult Of Personality," "Elvis Is Dead," "Open Letter To A Landlord," "Glamour Boys" and "Love Rears Its Ugly Head."

With 'The Chair In The Doorway', the fifth album of their storied career, Living Colour expands the scope of their timeless body of work and, in the process, proves vital as ever.

Track listing:

1. Burned Bridges
2. The Chair
3. DecaDance
4. Young Man
The album is from the Martin Scorsese-directed concert film SHINE A LIGHT and will be released simultaneously with the movie.

From the unmistakeable opening riff of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" to the classic sounds of "Tumbling Dice", "Sympathy For The Devil", "All Down The Line" and "Start Me Up" plus some unusual gems from the Stones catalogue - "You Got The Silver" and "Faraway Eyes" - 'Shine A Light' will be released in the UK on 7 April, 2008.

Included are three stunning collaborations - with blues legend Buddy Guy on "Champagne and Reefer", Jack White from White Stripes on "Loving Cup" while Christina Aguilera duets with Mick Jagger on "Live With Me".

'Shine A Light' will be released on double CD worldwide with a single disc version available in the US.

'Shine a Light' is a 22 track Rolling Stones live double album recorded during two memorable nights at New York's Beacon Theatre in 2006. Produced by The Glimmer Twins and mixed by Bob Clearmountain, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood are supported by their long-standing backline including bassist Darryl Jones, Chuck Leavell keyboards, Bobby Keys on saxophone, backing vocals Lisa Fischer, Blondie Chaplin and Bernard Fowler, and the horn section - Tim Ries, Michael Davies and Kent Smith.

Martin Scorsese's SHINE A LIGHT film recently kick-started the Berlin Film Festival to widespread critical acclaim and receives its New York premiere on March 30 and European premiere in London on 2 April. UK Cinemagoers will have the chance to experience a Stones concert as never before - as the fifth member of the band, from the front row and from behind the scenes.

No stranger to rock concert films, Scorsese filmed the Stones over a two-day period at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. With performances from Buddy Guy, Jack White of the White Stripes and Christina Aguilera, and integrated with rarely seen archival footage, SHINE A LIGHT is a unique cinema experience.

Twentieth Century Fox will take the ultimate Rolling Stones concert film SHINE A LIGHT from Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese to over 100 cinemas nationwide on 2 April via satellite link for simultaneous premieres alongside the London Leicester Square opening.

Tickets on sale from 7 March, 2008.

The feature film Shine A Light, directed by Martin Scorsese, is on UK national cinema release from 11 April 2008.

I say. After hearing about The Rolling Stones' upcoming European tour dates, I thought I'd log onto their website to read more about the tour. What I didn't expect was to see that not only was an official announcement planned yesterday, but there was an exclusive live tour announcement interview with Mick Jagger (or should that be Sir Mick?). Luckily the webcast has been archived on The Rolling Stones Website and I'm glad that I found it.

What I really liked about the interview was the question answer format. Fans from around Europe had sent in questions to Mick Jagger that were primarily focused on past shows and the Rolling Stones upcoming 2007 European "A Bigger Bang" tour. There was also talk about their headlining slot at the Isle of Wight Festival this June. Their appearance there will be the first UK festival for the Stones since 1976 at Knebworth in Hertfordshire, England.

A fan brought up the fact that the last time The Rolling Stones played on the Isle of Wight was at the Ryde Pavillion in 1964. Mick talked about why the Stones didn't play the original Isle of Wight Festival dates with artists like Jimi Hendrix and The Who.

It was interesting that Mick Jagger would bring up a certain British female singer not once, not twice but three times during the interview. Who could that be you might wonder? Amy Winehouse. When asked by the host of the interview if there is anyone that he is particularly looking forward to seeing at the Isle of Wight Festival, Mick mentioned Snow Patrol, Amy Winehouse, Muse, Paolo Nutini (who they've played shows with) and Fratellis. I'd be pretty happy actually, to be mentioned by Mick Jagger. He also mentioned her name again as an artist he would want to see at the Isle of Wight festival and when asked what songs he's downloading at the moment, he answered Bloque (sp?), City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Larry Williams and once again, Amy Winehouse. What's up with that?!

Other projects for Mick Jagger include movie productions and an upcoming Martin Scorsese concert film in the works. He'll also be writing songs while on holiday with family in the Caribbean. Now that sounds like fun. I've never written songs in the Caribbean and the time that I was in Jamaica I was too busy looking around to even think about focusing on anything else. But then, I suppose he's been going there for awhile now and is used to it.

So if you are able to make it to one of The Rolling Stones "A Bigger Bang" shows I would be interested to hear how it goes. I've never been fortunate enough to see them play live.
