Having first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2009, The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights documents the band playing to crowds in towns of all sizes across the Great White North - from traditional venues to matinee gigs at unusual locations such as a bowling alley, a boat and even on a city bus - culminating in a momentous 10th Anniversary show at the historic Savoy Theatre in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.

A captivating mix of striking live footage and poignant off-stage moments, this visually stirring and emotive feature length film celebrates the band's 10 year history, bringing the band full circle in their career to a place reminiscent of how they first started out; shows where no one knew who they were, and where they were left to make a first impression with their music.

Rhino UK is proud to present a fascinating 39 track, 2 CD set of highlights from the groundbreaking BBC 2 TV music show Later...with Jools Holland - the selections drawn from more recent series of the long running show. 'Later...Live with Jools Holland' is set for UK release January 28th, 2008.

The 2 CDS reflect Later...with Jools Holland's mix of established and new acts drawn from every walk of musical life. The full track listing is below but featured artists include Amy Winehouse, Kasabian, Lily Allen, The White Stripes with Jools himself, Muse and Kings Of Leon rubbing shoulders with the more upcoming likes of King Creosote, Adele, Duffy and Seasick Steve.

Later...with Jools Holland has been the most sought after TV outlet for both stellar names and relative unknowns (many of whom have gone on to much bigger things) since it was first broadcast in 1992. 25 of the 39 acts on this CD made their TV debut on Later and 13 of the tracks featured are debut performances anywhere in the world including those by Mika, Adele, Duffy, The Fratellis, Seasick Steve and Kate Nash.

Later...recently completed it's 30th series and more than a thousand artists have performed well over 2,500 songs during the shows' first 15 years. Rhino's 2 CD set is released the week that Later...celebrates its 200th show on Friday February 1st, 2008 with guests including Radiohead, Cat Power and Dionne Warwick.

The program has always presented a unique blend of acts on each show and has a reputation that always brings the best, often presenting the artist in a novel setting - Mika here performing solo, Gnarls Barkley with their string section, Kano and Damon Albarn. This is a remarkable collection of solo artists and bands, reflecting a phenomenal mix of music styles. Where else are you likely to hear James Blunt, The Flaming Lips, Kaiser Chiefs, Jose Gonzales and Green Day under one rafter-rattling roof?

Rockin' kids from down under and all over, Second Dan will perform with local Jersey acts Souls Release and Billy at The Blow-Up Radio.com's monthly concert series at Buddie's Tavern in Parlin, NJ on June 16th, 2007.

Buddie's Tavern is located at 277 Johnsons Lane. Second Dan takes the stage at 10:30 PM. Admission is free.

Second Dan got their start in Australia when their EP 'Running Out of Feelings,' achieved award-winning airplay on Triple J's "Unearthed," a known rocket boom for a number of Australian acts such as the Grates, Silverchair and Jet. 'Running Out of Feelings,' along with the follow-up single, "Everything Is Good" were both in heavy rotation for over two months with regular national radio play. The band toured the country on festival bills with The White Stripes, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Vines.

The band, now based in NYC, spent the past year plotting steps toward breaking the world's biggest music market. They returned to the studio to record their first full-length album, 'Bringing Down Goliath.' They also built a passionate following in the region as the live stage is Second Dan's first home. They have been regularly playing headlining shows at Mercury Lounge and Arlene's Grocery along with supporting bills at venues like Irving Plaza.

'Bringing Down Goliath' will be released this fall via Rola Pola Records and Organic Entertainment.
Watch The White Stripes video for Icky Thump

Recently Jack White was upset with a DJ in Chicago for leaking the whole Icky Thump album live on air - which in turn allowed for bootleggers to tape the tracks and then upload them online. I don't blame him for being upset, but most likely this publicity will draw more attention to the album and in the long run will lead to more sales for The White Stripes. Believe it or not, there are still listeners out there who don't have the resources or the desire to download illegal mp3s and will actually go out and buy CDs or purchase albums online.

Last Friday (June 1st) I watched The White Stripes perform as a replacement for The Who on Later with Jools Holland. They played Icky Thump, Effect and Cause, My Doorbell featuring Jools Holland on piano (love that song) and a short interview with Jools Holland and a somewhat nervous Jack White talking about the concept of Icky Thump, the recording process for the album and producing records. Click on the links to go to the video for each performance that night.

The White Stripes' upcoming tour dates include locations in Europe, the UK, USA and Canada.

Rockin' kids from down under and all over, Second Dan will perform with fellow Aussie act and recently signed Jive/Zomba artist, Augie March, at the Mercury Lounge in New York City on May 21st. The Mercury Lounge is located at 217 E. Houston. The band will perform at 9:30 PM.

"We love to share the stage with other Australian acts," comments frontman Dan Rosen. "Maybe I'm biased, but I think we know how to put on a good show."

Second Dan, a group of rockin' newcomers from down under, will play an acoustic set at The Living Room in New York on April 28th. The Living Room is located at 154 Ludlow Street. The band will perform at 8 PM. Sharing the stage that night will be Hollywood actress and Rounder Records artist Minnie Driver, Emmy-award winning composer Randy Lee and California's Jukebox Junkies.

The Living Room set will be a great opportunity to see the band in a stripped down setting – where their musicianship and songwriting comes to the fore.
