Norah Jones announces TV appearances on Late Show With David Letterman, Colbert Report, Good Morning America and The View in support of her new album ‘The Fall’

VH1 will present the world premiere of the music video for Norah Jones’ “Chasing Pirates,” which debuts online at VH1.com today Tuesday, October 27, 2009 and will air on VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown at 9AM ET on Saturday, October 31.

“Chasing Pirates” is the lead single from Norah Jones’ highly anticipated upcoming album The Fall, which will be released by EMI’s Blue Note Records on November 17.

The video, which was shot in Jones’ hometown of New York City, was directed by Rich Lee, who has worked on the visual effects for all three of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Lee has also directed music videos by everyone from Fergie (“Clumsy”) to Michael Buble (“Haven’t Met You Yet”).

Watch behind-the-scenes look at the making of the video

Watch trailer:

Jones has also announced a first run of TV appearances around the release of The Fall.

The multiple Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter will be appearing on CBS Late Show With David Letterman (November 11), Comedy Central The Colbert Report (November 18), and ABC Good Morning America (November 16) and The View (November 23).

“Chasing Pirates,” which was featured on Rolling Stone’s “Hot List,” immediately announces a new direction for Jones. Entertainment Weekly wrote that “Chasing Pirates’ is a bluesy surprise and welcome change of pace,” adding that “Jones’ voice remains as lovely as ever.”

“For this record, I just had a sound in my head,” Jones says. “I wanted the grooves to be more present and heavy. And I also just wanted to do something different.”

That new sound began to present itself on one of the first songs Jones wrote for the project.

“About a year ago, I did some demos in my home studio,” she says. “I had some friends come in and we figured out a cool arrangement for ‘Chasing Pirates,’ with a cool drum part. It went somewhere I didn’t expect it to go, and that became a direction to look in.”

After hitting #1 on the Billboard dance chart with “Boom” her slinky, Nancy Sinatraesque 60’s era vibe first single, pop music alchemist Anjulie is gearing up for the release of her self-titled debut album from Hear Music, August 4, 2009.

Buy Music:

Anjulie on amazon.com

mtvU recently tapped her as one of their “Freshman 5” this summer, one of five exciting new artists the channel believes are about to jump from college favorites to household names.

MTV has heavily supported the Adria Petty directed video for “Boom” while featuring many songs from the album in the hit shows The Hills and The City. Additionally, VH1 has showcased her songs on their show Tough Love.

USA Today recently gushed “rising indie diva” Anjulie’s music “a soul- kissed confection” and NEXT Magazine raved “The album has intelligent lyrics and a point of view. One of the few records this year we’ve loved from start to finish.”

Canadian born from Guyanese descent, singer-songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Anjulie is a captivating and authentic new talent in pop music. Ingeniously fusing the world-music rhythms and Top 40 melodies she was inspired by growing up in Toronto, she creates startlingly imaginative songs that underscore her undeniable melodic gifts and crackle with provocative, confessional, lyrical word-play.

‘Anjulie’ was co-written with her producer and longtime songwriting collaborator Jon Levine (of Canadian R&B hit makers the Philosopher Kings), and produced by Colin Wolfe (Dr. Dre, Monica). “Boom” received heavy airplay nation-wide beginning with Santa Monica’s influential public radio station KCRW where celebrated DJ Chris Douridas first championed it.

The new single “The Rain” is a flamenco-flavored, sophisticated urban gem that hits with the sharp initial blast of her contemporaries, M.I.A., Nelly Furtado and Corinne Bailey Rae.

Anjulie has spent the year playing to rapturous audiences, including a sold-out national tour opening for Jesse McCartney while putting the finishing touches on what is sure to be one of 2009’s most exciting debuts.

Her sparkling new website can be found at anjuliemusic.com and you can follow her as she launches the new record at Twitter.com/Anjulierocks.

Beginning August 4th, ‘Anjulie’ will be available at participating Starbucks locations in the U.S. and Canada and wherever music is sold.

His outing with O.A.R. launches this Thursday in Spokane, WA and he just finalized plans to tour with G. Love & Special Sauce thereafter. (See below for itinerary.)

With “Rock & Roll,” the lead single from his Warner Bros.
VH1 has named singer-songwriter Lenka as its latest “You Oughta Know” artist, with a campaign kicking off in early October.

Her self-titled debut album became available on iTunes last week and in just a few short days had jumped into the iTunes’ Top 10 Albums chart.

The album will be featured on vh1.com’s “The Leak” beginning today and AOL will host a listening party for it next week. Lenka will play a special show at New York’s Mercury Lounge September 23rd, 2008 coinciding with the album’s wide release, and she’ll make her U.S. network television debut the following night on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”

She’s also confirmed to perform on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” (October 16th) and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” (October 22nd).

Lenka, former vocalist for the acclaimed Australian electronic/ambient band Decoder Ring, continues her residency at Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, performing each Thursday in September 2008. On September 27th she’ll be the primary support for Juliana Hatfield’s show at L.A.’s Café Largo and she’ll join the Hotel Cafe Tour on November 11th. In between, she’ll play a couple of shows in her native Australia (see below for full itinerary).

“The Show,” the lead track from Lenka’s album, is climbing the charts at radio and 476,700 copies of the song were downloaded last week when it was featured as iTunes’ “Single of the Week.”

As noted by People’s recent “As Heard On TV” column, it’s been featured in Old Navy’s back-to-school television advertising campaign and in promotional spots for the hit ABC comedy “Ugly Betty”. It’s also been tapped for the Paramount Pictures/Nickelodeon Movies’ film Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging.

The video for “The Show,” directed by Moh Azima, received its online premiere earlier this month on iMeem.com. You can check it out here:

Two other Lenka songs have garnered early attention as well: “Don’t Let Me Fall” was heard in the season premiere of the The CW’s new series “90210″ and Lenka’s haunting cover of Modest Mouse’s “Gravity Rides Everything” was recently featured as Entertainment Weekly’s “Download This” pick and by Vanity Fair’s “Hot Tracks” (along with “The Show”). The songs are available now on iTunes.

Lenka, who is a Clear Channel NEW! Artist for September (AAA format), has already appeared in the pages of Marie Claire and Teen Vogue and will be featured in upcoming issues of Blender and Spin as well as an episode of vh1.com’s “My Play List.”

Warner Bros. Records recording artist Eric Hutchinson has been named a VH1 “You Oughta Know” artist.

In this high-profile program that champions artists on the rise, Hutchinson will be featured in all VH1 platforms.

The video for his Top 20 AAA hit “Rock & Roll,” lensed by U.K. director David Mullett (Babyshambles, Lucky Soul, Vinyl), has already been added by VH1, MTVu, MuchMoreMusic and Logo’s “NewNowNext.”

Hutchinson, who was tapped as an “Artist to Watch” by Clear Channel’s “NEW!” program last month and MSN’s “Ones To Watch” for the month of October, will be the direct support for Jack’s Mannequin’s upcoming U.S. tour, which launches on October 14th, 2008.

Tickets go on sale September 13th, 2008.

Hutchinson was the #1 Most Added new artist at AAA when “Rock & Roll,” the lead single from his full-length debut, ‘Sounds Like This’, went to radio. “Rock & Roll” is featured in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2″ and on the film’s soundtrack, ad and viral campaign. The track is the No. 1 download from the soundtrack.

“Eric Hutchinson is hard to beat,” said The Washington Post in a recent live review, while the Los Angeles Times praised his “playful R&B-tinged rhythms.”

Popmatters.com found ‘Sounds Like This’ “refreshingly inventive and uniquely soulful…. smart arrangements and Hutchinson’s bold charm combine to make it this summer’s most guilt-free guilty pleasure.”

Hutchinson has been on the road non-stop this year, touring with OneRepublic, Missy Higgins, Marie Digby and Blind Melon in between headlining runs. The fall tour will be his second with Jack’s Mannequin. Upcoming dates are as follows:

The world of pop and hard rock collide on American stages this summer with the driving sound of Defy Tomorrow. The band will be playing selected dates on the Vans Warped Tour in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. The tour kicks off on Sunday, June 22, 2008 in Ventura, CA.

Formed in July 2007, Defy Tomorrow is the unlikely teaming of former MTV Pop Artist Marissa with lead singer for hard rock band ColdFusion, Mike Oliver.

Both founding members have received national attention for their musical talents: the music video for Marissa’s “Just So Able” was voted the No. 1 Pop Video on VH1’s Music Nation while making the rounds on MTV and MTV Overdrive, and Oliver’s ColdFusion were featured on the premiere episode of Dane Cook’s HBO special Tourgasm.

Defy Tomorrow will be featured in broadcasts of new MTV show Exiled, premiering August 2008, which follows Marissa and seven other cast members as they are sent out to remote locations around the globe to acclimate to life with indigenous tribes. The show will include footage of Marissa’s everyday life in Scottsdale, Arizona, including performances by the band. Previews for the show can be found on MTV’s website.

On tour, the band will be performing material from their debut EP ‘One Through the Heart’, now available through their website and iTunes. The sound matches Oliver’s hard-rock backing, featuring screaming guitars and explosive drumming, with Marissa’s impassioned pop-vocal delivery of her bitter, heartbroken lyrics.

The EP’s lead track, “Words Don’t Mean a Thing,” showcases a bitterly sarcastic take on a shattered love affair, against a chaotic, overdriven backdrop – as Marissa sings, “Words don’t mean a thing/Fairy tale endings don’t come true/I know that now and it’s ok because I’m over you.”

Defy Tomorrow is ready to blow you away with their own brand of hard rock today! Don’t miss them on the Warped Tour this summer.

“I wanted this album to have a lot of different directions on it, I did not want it to be any one baby. I just wanted it to be a sampler of flavors and influences from all over the world. There’s a touch of this, a little smidgeon of that, a dash of something else…like when you’re cooking.” – Donna Summer

‘Crayons’ with all its songs co-written by Donna Summer, is an international banquet of musical delights and surprises.

Singer/songwriter/pop culture icon Donna Summer has been working hard on ‘Crayons’, her bold and long-awaited new collection of songs, her first full-length studio album of newly-penned material since 1991’s ‘Mistaken Identity’ and her first new release since “VH1 Presents: Live & More Encore!,” the CD (and DVD) companion to her top-rated VH1 television special which returned her to the Billboard Top 200 in 1999.

The arrival of a new Donna Summer album is a major musical event and ‘Crayons’ is a worthy addition to one of the world’s most influential musical catalogs. The album is set for release May 20, 2008 on Sony BMG.

Five-time Grammy winner, Donna Summer, maintains an unbroken string of hits throughout the 70s and 80s, most of which she wrote. Donna holds the record for most consecutive double albums to hit #1 on the Billboard charts (3) and first female to have four #1 singles in a 12 month period; 3 as a solo artist and one as a duo with Barbara Streisand.

Songs on ‘Crayons’ run the musical gamut from “a really real pop pop song” like “The Science of Love,” to retro-modern “dance-oriented” tracks like “I’m A Fire,” to the “socially conscious” “Bring Down The Reign” and the world-music-flavored “Driving Down Brazil.”

With the album’s centerpiece ballad, “Be Myself Again,” Donna Summer creates the album’s most intimate and revelatory musical meditation. “What I wanted to do,” she says, “is strip down a song. I wanted it to be a cappella. There’s always so much hoopla around the voice, I wanted to do a song where there’s no hoopla. There’s just you and the audience listening to somebody who’s just singing to themselves, singing about the intimate parts of what it has taken to do what they do. The thing to do is stay connected to the true self and that’s really difficult in show business. That’s what the song is about.”

‘Crayons’ track listing:

1. STAMP YOUR FEET
2. MR. MUSIC
3. CRAYONS featuring Ziggy Marley
