This new album ‘Never Been Gone’ revisits songs originally written throughout Carly Simon’s extensively long and productive career.

The CD was recorded at home and consists of new largely acoustic versions of Carly’s biggest hits and two brand new tracks.

Carly’s son, Benjamin Taylor was the originator of the idea and Carly willingly (though, sometimes hesitatingly) complied and lived up to the dare. Carly, Benjamin, and the rest of the producers, known as “Paphiopedilium,” chose the songs, most of which were Carly’s best-known and commercially successful.

In the CDs generous liner notes is an explanation not only of the word, “Paphiopedilium,” but an explanation of the reworking of each of the songs. Carly hopes that even without these notes the music will speak for itself.

Says Simon, “It was a revelation to me that these lyrics and melodies were so innocent of age and experience when I composed them back when. ‘These are the Good Old Days’ were not nearly as ‘good’ or as ‘old.’ I was encouraged by performing some of these songs on a promotional tour for the album This Kind Of Love, which was released a year ago. Ben, David (Saw), Peter (Calo), Larry (Ciancia) and I, with only the instruments in our hands, revised the songs: songs such as ‘You’re So Vain’ and ‘Anticipation.’ They came out all different! It was a sport of sort, as well as a visit with a psychiatrist.”

Carly celebrated the commutation of her Godson John Forte’s prison sentence by collaborating with him on “You Belong To Me.” It has been one of the great thrills of Carly’s lifetime to be working with friends and family so close to her heart.

Though Sally Taylor, Carly’s daughter, was available only to work once during the course of the recording, the choice of song that she sings on so beautifully is a meaningful coincidence: “Boys In The Trees,” is a message that a daughter receives so hauntingly from her mother.

With so many old and new friends contributing to this album, it is perfect that Frank Filipetti be the man to mix it and Bob Ludwig the friend to master it.

Billboard cover star and US indie sensation Ingrid Michaelson will release her UK debut album ‘Everybody’ on 19 October, 2009, and the single “Maybe” on 16 November. She has also announced her biggest UK headline show to date at London’s Scala on 23 November.

The Coca-Cola Company and Warner Music Group’s Atlantic Records have come together to record and release a new song featuring some of the hottest acts from the worlds of rock, pop and hip hop.

The track will accompany the third in the Coca-Cola “Happiness Factory” series of commercials, and uses the 5-note melody made famous by the ads.

Titled “Open Happiness”, the single features the combined talents of Cee-Lo Green, Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, Brendon Urie from Panic at the Disco, Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes and acclaimed, Grammy nominated songstress Janelle Monae. The song reflects the spirit of positivity, optimism and fun expressed in “Open Happiness,” the new global integrated marketing campaign for brand Coca-Cola.

Two superstar producers; Butch Walker (who co-wrote the track with Cee-Lo Green) and Polow Da Don produced the musical collaboration. These award-winning producers have set out to mix their worlds of rock and hip-hop and create a really cutting edge sound that brings the Open Happiness campaign to life. The super producers have been responsible for some of the most popular music of recent years and between them have worked with acts such as Usher, Kelis, Pink, Fergie, Pussycat Dolls, Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry.

It’s obvious from the title track of Sarah Siskind’s new album, ‘Say It Louder’, that a goal for her life and songwriting is potent, from-the-gut expression: “If I had the chance to say it again, I’d say it louder.” But the Nashville singer and songwriter needn’t aspire to make an enduring impact on the ears. There are penetrating Appalachian melodies—the outgrowth of a youth spent traveling with her bluegrass-playing parents to festivals all over North Carolina – and deeply confessional, poetic lyric-writing that lends the songs a distinctly modern tint. Then there’s the blues flavor of Siskind’s plunging vocal lines, which she attacks with a clear, resonant alto that can’t be mistaken for anyone else’s. The whole 13-song set has a cohesive, full-bodied sound, easily fusing folk and rock, anchored by Sarah’s mid-70’s Gibson ES-175 named “Larry”.
