Indie-Rocker and Underground Animator Team-up for new Film

California post-rocker Instar and New York City Animator Pat Smith are collaborating on their third film “Masks”.

Smith is merging his unique hand-animated vision with the post-rock sonic experimentalism of Central-Coast California musician Karl von Kries (performing under his nom-de-rock “Instar”). Their first work together “Drink” won Best Debut Film, 2001 New York Film Expo, while their second effort “Delivery” was an Official Selection at the 2005 Animated Exeter festival, the Slamdance Film Festival, Park City UT, 2004. Instar’s debut EP ‘Rich Girls’ was called “Excellent” by none other than UK’s NME.

You can check out clips from “Drink” and “Delivery” at www.instarmusic.com – and join the mailing list to find out about screenings of “Masks” near you. When you sign up, you’ll get nine free MP3s from Instar!
