Paper Scissorz…Where’s The Rock?

Paper Scissorz, but where’s rock? This band is definitely more than a typical rock band. Paper Scissorz, named after rock’s greatest foes, is loaded with beats and rhythm that will surpass many in the music business. This Los Angeles band consists of four college guys that are bound to make the girls scream. They go by the names of Elie Kurtz, Ira Silver, Ari Mahpour, Sean Rudes, and Jeff Fritz.Elie and Ira, both Los Angeles high school friends, were not just regular teens. They were two guys with incredible ambition to becoming rock stars one day.
Coming from a religious background, the high schoolers decided that the band was too time consuming at their young age in order to pursue a true music career. With time moving on, the guys went their separate ways with Ira going off to Israel to “find himself” while Eli started the first of his four years at University of California, Santa Barbara. Different worlds one must say, but it was still their love for music that kept them connected.
As the guys matured in several aspects, they reunited and decided to give this band another shot, but this time around, they did it differently. Eli and Ira started off as a two-man band, writing more than just the typical ‘pop-punk’ songs. With more matured and experienced souls, they decided to make their music a reflection of their great growth. Now with a plan, the duo began a journey to find the rest of the pieces to their puzzle.
Long time friend, Ari Mahpour, was the next step to Eli & Ira’s project as he proved to the guys that his uniquely intricate playing style was nothing that one would expect…and that’s just what the guys were on the lookout for. After Ari, this new three-piece band found guitarist, Sean Rudes. It was Sean’s impeccable guitar skills that brought a great deal of energy and depth to the group’s music.
Finally, it was only one more step until Paper Scissorz could be a complete band. With some browsing on the infamous website, Craigslist.org, the band found their final member, and amazing drummer, Jeff Fritz. This was the last piece of the puzzle as Jeff took place in the band. Along with the help of Goodbye Valentine’s drummer, Joe, the guys were able to go full in force as they began practicing and recording songs, which finally resulted in their first demo, “…Beats Rock.”
With years ahead into this present day, the guys are back in motion and turning up the heat with new and creative ways to make the crowd fall into a puddle with their talent. Currently, Paper Scissorz are preparing for a couple live shows this summer and fall, as well as promoting their full-length album, “…Beats Rock.”
Make sure to check out this new emerging band as they show you what suave and real talent is all about.
