Swiftly following on from the widely-acclaimed Julius Work Calendar comes this stunning collection of twisted folk gems from the prolific Edinburgh-based musician Richard Haswell (aka Rhubarb). Stripped-down, haunting, bleak yet comforting, this record boasts perhaps his strongest set of songs to date.
Featuring Sarah Bland on violin, Shelley Haswell on wine glasses and the first appearance of a thumb piano on any Rhubarb album! Also featuring exclusive artwork by Gavin Cameron and Leigh Brown.
According to the Rhubarb website (www.worldofrhubarb.co.uk) 100 advance copies are now available for pre-order from the Paypal shop on the website and should be available before the release date. This is a strictly limited edition advance run so be quick to get your hands on a copy.
Rhubarb is one of the pseudonyms used by eclectic Edinburgh musician Richard Haswell who has self-released 22 albums to date and slowly built up a cult following.
Last year saw the release of The Julius Work Calendar to wide acclaim:
“…glorious, like rain in a desert…a subtle record with the atmosphere of a storm… chaotic and brooding with flashes of incredible brilliance and loud bangs. The songs buffet the listener from one emotion to another, and it is all in the music, which creates a magical experience. A listener should be touched whilst in its presence, even if one is unsure of why.” **** ClickMusic
“…a very impressive feat…one of the best and most varied albums I have heard all year.” ***** Is This Music
“… a fine collection of psych-tinged songs that have plenty of character of their own…plenty of atmosphere and variety… tugging the heartstrings.” Terrascope Online
“How can he have passed us all by for so many years? We say it again – spread the word about this singular artist!” Woven Wheat Whispers
