Alice Di Micele – Announces “by ebb and by flow” Northwest Tour 2008

(Ashland, Oregon) With the successful 2007 release of her CD, “by ebb and by flow,” Alice Di Micele has found herself venturing out and performing again with renewed spirit and energy. This spring Di Micele embarks on a full Northwest tour that has her performing in venues in Oregon, Washington and Idaho while 2008 sees her filling her schedule rapidly. Di Micele says “I’m excited, and of course a little bit nervous about heading back out into the bigger world after spending so much time on my beloved rivers. Hopefully I can bring all the good energy I’ve been given in the wilderness out into the world through my music.”

Di Micele’s CD “by ebb and flow,” her first studio album in 9 years released on her own Alice Otter Music label marked a musical watershed, for the Northwest environmental singer-songwriter. Burnt out from the music industry and a relentless tour schedule that had kept her busy and on the road for the past 20 years singing earthy anthems, Di Micele had decided to take a break and put her paddle in the water. She spent several years to that end whitewater kayaking and raft guiding in the Oregon Wilderness, a sojourn that eventually served up the sparkling gems on “by ebb & by flow.”

As natural as the earth’s own cyclic rhythms, the release of “by ebb & flow,” had Di Micele dipping her toes again in the tidal pools of the music industries choppy waters with a CD that crossed many musical genres ranging from jazzy styling to earthy pop rock to rootsy Americana. Receiving widespread radio airplay, tracks like “Made Out of Water,” and “Mexico” were picked up by numerous folk and independent stations across the country while “by ebb & by flow” received favorable media reviews.

Joining Di Micele on her Northwest tour is David Gelfand adding resonant bass lines to her earthy grooves and her rich sensual five-octave voice. Accomplished multi-instrumentalist and former lead guitarist of northwest jamband Little Women, Steven James Wright, joins the show in Portland adding his deep-roots guitar and mandolin style to the mix. As Di Micele’s musical journey continues, we can be grateful that she heeded her own inner voice to rest and rejuvenate and that she is back sharing her inspired gifts with all of us.
