‘MBop’ to sell deluxe special edition 25th Anniversary ‘Thriller’ album

Mbop are delighted to announce that the super deluxe 25th Anniversary special edition of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ is available to buy from their download platform.

This special edition features all the original tracks that turned Michael into a global megastar, a fantastic previously unreleased bonus track and remixes from some of today’s biggest international acts including will.i,am, Akon and Kanye West.

For the past 18 months, MBop has been the sleeping giant of the legal download fraternity. With an amassed catalogue of over 3.5 million tracks across all music genres, MBop has sold over 2 million downloads from its ever growing army of users. With virtually no publicity, MBop is fast becoming the savvy downloader’s’ online download shop of choice.

MBop is headed by 80’s punk icon Paul Ballance, who achieved notoriety with his excessive punk band the ‘Warm Jets’, with whom he shared stages with the likes of The Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop and Ian Dury. Paul is now a music industry entrepreneur, and set about starting up Mbop a few years ago. His aim was to create a music platform that is both user-orientated and a useful business tool for new artists and record labels who want to pedal their wares online.

Paul has an excellent insight in to the music market and this is evident in the fact that MBop has already sold over two million tracks before its official launch, and will now share in the glory of a monumental special edition digital release from Michael Jackson.

Thriller is the biggest selling album of all time, having now been certified 27 x Platinum –and counting. Two digital versions are available for download, one as per the physical release, and one super deluxe version with additional tracks unavailable physically – sure to send music collectors and the MJ faithful alike into a frenzy!

Alex Vlassopulos, Digital Business Development, Sony BMG comments on the agreement: Working with MBop aligns our focus on catalogue artists and brings superstar Sony BMG artists such as Michael Jackson, Elvis and Bob Dylan to the forefront of the digital store.
