After storming the club charts with his breakthrough single ‘Deep Within the Skin’ this summer, KJ delves into his bag of musical tricks and delivers a brand new single, ‘Shakin That’, on the inimitable Savage Trax Records.

Having roped in a stellar cast of top notch remixes, KJ looks set to once again dominate the dance floors with some hi octane cuts destined for some serious four to the floor damage.

Acclaimed Stateside producer, Jason Nevins, from Run DMC’s ‘It’s Like That’ fame, lends his remixing talents and reworks a funky as hell, electro tinged remix of the lead track, definitely one for the record box this year!

UK’s finest garage producers, The Wideboys, give ‘Shakin That’ a sweet funky, bassline makeover that will sit well with the Kiss FM, 1xtra, Ministry of Sound crowd. GRN, aka DJ and Producer Glen Nicholls, who has just topped the Buzz Chart with a remix of the Champion Classic ‘Show Me Love’ by Robin S and has been busy remixing the Yazoo comeback project after numerous chart-topping remixes for Depeche Mode, The Prodigy, Sander Kleinberg and Bomb the Bass, have added a smooth house touch to the remix package.

The immensely-talented singer and producer long-harboured a dream of turning professional from an early age, self-producing over 250 tracks, writing thousands of lyrics, and playing his songs to close family and friends, but all the time agonising over playing in public. The fear became so great that KJ began getting panic attacks and even finding it difficult to leave the house. Kevin himself admits:

“At the time I didn’t realise and I didn’t get any help, so it developed. The panic attacks turned into depression and sometimes just going to the supermarket was difficult.”

Searching for ways to combat his fears, KJ began to write about how he felt and was finally persuaded to upload his tracks to MySpace where they caught the eyes and ears of Savage Trax boss Kevin Savage, who immediately signed him up for a £1m, 4-album deal. The deal changed everything overnight, giving KJ a new-found boost of confidence, enough to get up on stage and perform in front of 25,000 people at 2007’s Cardiff Mardi Gras.

Realising how empowering overcoming such an adversity can be, KJ and the mental health charity ‘No Panic’ have joined forces in an effort to reach sufferers who still shy away from seeking help. As a Patron of ‘No Panic’, KJ hopes to inspire sufferers to come forward as he did, proving that it is possible to beat a panic disorder.

It just goes to show, fear need never get in the way of dreams.

‘Shakin That’ will be released in the UK on 24th November on Savage Trax.

Time of My Life is the debut single taken from the much anticipated album, Welcome 2 Tahland and in 2008 it looks set to sizzle! Time… an uplifting, feel good party track, also lays down the ground work for Tah’s inevitable invasion of the UK charts.

Tah Mac’s latest full length effort features a veritable ‘A List’ of old school talent and rising stars. No stranger to quality and style, the man from NYC has secured the likes Mutya Buena, C.A.S.H (Ceelo Green from Gnarls Barkley) to give the album a knockout punch.

With a decade of experience under his belt, Tah knows how to create the very best music with top quality artistes. Not one to be pigeon holed, Tah has worked with diverse array of artists from Erick Sermon, Javine, Ciara, Onyx, Leona Lewis, Redman and Aretha Franklin to The Charlatans. Often describing his music as a ‘global sound’, Tah has finally crafted a sound that is uniquely his own.

So watch out for Tah Mac as he brings his spectacular live show and killer bag of tunes over to the UK this year!

Time of My Life will be released in the UK on 10th November 2008.

He has something special to share with the world. His first two records prove that effortlessly. Thanks to their potent subtlety and his endearing shyness, you’re in imminent danger of falling in love with Matthew’s graceful heart-rending voice. Siobhan Grogan, NME – 6 May 2000

Whether Matthew Jay will be as massive as he deserves to be – and believe it, he deserves a string of top 10 hits and undying critical adulation – isn’t what’s really important. What is important though, is that at just 21, he has the wonderful songs, the sumptuous voice and the gently sussed poise to become very precious indeed to those people willing to listen. You should be one of them. Rob Fitzpatrick, Melody Maker – 15 March 2000

On Friday 10th October 2008 at the Shepherds Bush Empire in London, 9 amazing acts will come together to remember one amazing artist, Matthew Jay, whom, just over 5 years ago at the age of 24 and on the cusp of richly deserved commercial success, we lost tragically, in what are still, unexplained circumstances.

Matthew was an overwhelming talent, as his amazing album ‘Draw’ will testify. The album was released to huge critical acclaim in March 2001 garnering unparalleled praise from Melody Maker and NME amongst numerous others.

Matthew also toured extensively with the likes of Dido, Travis, Doves, and Starsailor, and appeared on “LATER with Jools Holland“. Ultimately Matthew never got the level of recognition that we and everyone who is supporting this event know he would have achieved, had he lived.

He did however touch the hearts of everyone who heard him and he left some stunningly beautiful music which recently has been added to by the discovery of some unfinished demos which his family and Vasco have painstakingly and lovingly put together and realised as the album: Further Than Tomorrow.

Further Than Tomorrow is very aptly the name of the event where we will mark what would have been Matthew Jay’s 30th birthday in an evening celebrating his life and music with all profits going to his two favourite charities, Amnesty International & UNICEF.

Come along and see why Chris Difford (Squeeze), James Walsh (Starsailor) Kathryn Williams & Neill Maccoll, Passenger, Dlugokecki, Helen Boulding, The Matthew Jay Band, Henrik, New Shoes & Vasco and all those playing think so much of this extraordinary lost talent.

With over 4 hours of incredible music with each artist playing a favourite Jay track and their latest material and all for two very good causes help this concert take Matthew Jay and his musical legacy Further Than Tomorrow.

Shepherds Bush Empire, Shepherds Bush Green, London, W12 8TT. Venue Box Office Box Office: 0870 771 2000 Customer Info Line: 0905 020 3999. The Box Office will only be open from 4pm-6pm & 6.30pm – 9.30pm on show days for advance sales, night sales (subject to availability) and all box office collections.

Dublin-born singer Imelda May is a last minute addition to next week’s Later… with Jools Holland (BBC2 Tuesday 10pm & Friday September 26, 2008 at 11:35pm). Imelda will be performing 2 songs from her current album ‘Love Tattoo’.

First up is the foot-stomping riot of Johnny Got A Boom Boom, a rip-roaring affair bursting with hi-energy, lust for life that has had crowds rocking across the UK. Her second performance of the night shows her vocal dexterity, a slow, tender and silken-voiced ballad called Falling in Love With You Again, which, excitingly, she’ll be performing with the one and only, MR Jools Holland on piano!

Recent winner of Best Newcomer at the Irish Music Awards, Imelda has been touring with Jools Holland & Van Morrison and has just finished her summer festival season playing storming sets at Glastonbury, Innocent, Cornbury and Chiswick House and is currently in talks to appear at the legendary Berkeley Square Ball on the 25th September, courtesy of The Godfather of Gigs, Vince Power.

Imelda is also in high demand for private events and has just finished an astonishing run of these from St Moritz to Buckingham Palace, wowing crowds of luminaries such as Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles and numerous Hollywood A-Listers.

With her incendiary live shows blazing a trail from pubs to palaces and debut album Love Tattoo receiving plaudits across the board, Imelda May is ready to steal the show on Later…with Jools Holland.

On Sept 28th, 2008, renowned performing arts organisation, Theatretrain, present their most ambitious show to date in the magnificent surroundings of The Royal Albert Hall.

Theatretrain are one of the UK’s leading youth performing arts companies with over 80 schools around the country offering high quality training and the unique opportunity to perform in local and national theatres. Backed by patrons including Catherine Tate and Derek Jacobi, they have been inspiring young people between the ages 6 and 18 to express their emotions, hopes and dreams through the art of performance for over 16 years.

Their latest production “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing” is one of the biggest and most ambitious performances the UK has seen, bringing together 24 different Theatretrain centres to create an exhilarating show with more than 1400 performers. Unlike any of the other performing arts schools providing this form of education, Theatretrain are unique in that they create large scale experiences for ALL of their pupils whatever their ability and give them the opportunity to perform at the best theatres in the country. When it comes to the sheer scale of performance and the quality of venue Theatretrain are steaming ahead.

The Royal Albert Hall production focuses on dance and movement skills from the work of Laban, the celebrated theatre choreographer, dance artist and theorist who devised the 8 efforts of human movement.

With over 30 fantastic music numbers ranging from Classical to Urban, the dazzling performance begins with the Scissor Sisters and Snow Patrol and works its way through a variety of dance styles and forms including Hip Hop, Irish, Greek and Salsa. There are four efforts in each act and each one is expressed with a shorter piece of classical music and another contemporary song. The visual aspect of the performance plays a crucial part and the audience will be treated to a stunning display of vibrant colour and movement across the stage.

This spectacular production will be the perfect opportunity to see Theatretrain’s teaching philosophies of energy, enthusiasm and commitment expressed through performance, as well as catching a glimpse of Britain’s future West End stars!

“Shena, the UK’s favourite diva” Heat

There’s Only One Woman To Watch Out For

This Summer

The New Album ‘One Man Woman’ – released 1st September, 2008

After providing backing vocals for Mariah Carey, James Brown and Charlotte Church, Shena, one of the UK’s most versatile vocalists, is releasing her debut album of stunningly sumptuous soul tracks and now she is the star herself!

‘One Man Woman’ due out on the 1st September is a beautiful collection of ‘stripped down soul’, showcasing Shena’s dazzling vocal style. Whitney Houston and Lauryn Hill have been key influences and Shena exudes their sexy self-confidence and shares their ability to captivate audiences, promising to appeal to an international audience.

Making her mark on the music scene, Shena sang on Michael Gray’s 2004 smash ‘The Weekend’, and performed the track live to the nation on Top Of The Pops.

Singing has always been a passion for Shena. When she was a young girl she was greatly influenced by the baritone voice of her Grenadian father, describing him as a “Calypso Nat King Cole!” Her talent was spotted at an early age and Shena’s school teachers paid with their own funds for professional singing lessons after school to better her chances of having a career in music.

However, life at school was not always so rosy.As she began studying for her A-Levels, she received a less motivating welcome from the new teacher of her music class. She was exposed to her first major dose of cynicism and was forced to deal with prejudice. Although branded as someone that “would only ever become a secretary”, Shena turned the negative into positive motivation, and set out to prove him wrong.

A rendition of an aria from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess won her an unconditional place at the Royal Academy of Music which certainly began to prove the tutor wrong and reinforced her faith in herself. At the Royal Academy she studied classically, but loved commercial music too.

From graduating she got her first big break working with Michael Ball and since then has worked with Luther Vandross, Girl’s Aloud, Sugababes, Angie Stone, Chaka Khan, Lesley Garrett, Belinda Carlisle and Kelly La Roc to name but a few!

Performing on BBC’s ‘Songs Of Praise’ at the tender age of 21, Shena sang “Don’t Cry For Me” in a tribute to the tragic loss of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence. The BBC was inundated with messages from the British public demanding to know who this amazing young performer was, and requesting her to release the track!

Now with six top twenty dance hits under her belt it has been a natural progression for Shena to release her own material. She feels that she has paid her dues as a backing vocalist.
Shena is also a talented writer and has written tracks for Javine and Lemar (Eternal wanted one of her tracks but she kept it for herself!)

Shena is finally taking the next step and releasing her own material. She can currently can also be heard taking the lead vocal on the hit “Watch Out” by Alex Gaudino, which is currently a favourite on Radio 1, Kiss FM and London’s Capital Radio.

Kevin Jon (KJ) overcomes adversity to become the UK’s new music sensation

Deep Within the Skin single digital release date: 14th July 2008

Pop / RnB sensation KJ is set to release his first single ‘Deep Within the Skin’ this July, on the fledgling Savage Trax label, almost against the odds.

Searching for ways to combat his fears, KJ began to write about how he felt and was finally persuaded to upload his tracks to MySpace where they caught the eyes and ears of SavageTrax boss Kevin Savage, who immediately signed him up for a £1m, 4-album deal.

‘Deep Within the Skin’ showcases KJ’s love of 80’s pop, hip hop and R & B, indeed it’s no surprise that KJ has been compared to a British Justin Timberlake, and with a reverential nod to studio maestro Timberland very apparent within the production. Due to be released on all major download sites, the single is backed up by 4 killer club remixes by a crop of producers renowned for their dancefloor-destroying productions.

First up is GRN, aka DJ and Producer Glen Nicholls, who has just topped the Buzz Chart with a remix of the Champion Classic ‘Show Me Love’ by Robin S and has been busy remixing the Yazoo comeback project after numerous chart-topping remixes for Depeche Mode, The Prodigy, Sander Kleinberg and Bomb the Bass. 7th Heaven have produced a breezy club version that compliments their remix roster for the likes of Booty Luv, The Ting Tings, The Freemasons and Eric Prydz. The House Junkies add a touch of their floor-filling electro house style that’s been consistently wowing crowds at the Heaven nightclub in London. Finally John-e Jay, a talented Club DJ/Producer from Worcester, puts in a seriously wonky bass rework very much in the Sinden vein.

It just goes to show, fear need never get in the way of dreams.

The 1940’s Film Noir inspired video for the single “Second Time Around” is at this video link.

Goodbye (single) – August 25th, 2008
Second Time Around (single) – October 6th
Second Time Around (album) – October 13th

With over 350 shows in the last two years including four tours of the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Germany, Nell Bryden – American songstress, poet and free spirit – is back on the UK shores with a new collection of stirring songs.

‘Second Time Around’ (released 13th October, 2008) is an anthology of ten blues, country / modern Dixie and jazz tracks all delivered in Nell’s sassy and vibrant yet elegant and sexy style. A woman of many musical talents, she not only writes and sings but also plays electric, acoustic and twelve string guitars as well as the dobro and cello on the record.

Renowned for her live shows, Nell has already supported KT Tunstall and lined up opening slots for the Counting Crows this July. Also famous for her vocal ability, she has a reputation for entertaining with a playful rock `n roll lure yet still warming even the coldest of hearts.

Drawing influences from Ryan Adams and Bob Dylan through to soul divas like Nina Simone and Bonnie Raitt, Nell’s musical heritage is rich. Born in Brooklyn into an artistic family Nell grew up with her father, an impressionist painter and her mother who was a classical singer. Her musical development began early with her studying the piano at 4 and then picking up the cello aged 9 – she later taught herself to write music.

“Most of my songs are about some sort of longing for meaningful love, and I remain a completely hopeful romantic. My lyrics have a darker undertone but I’m essentially a sanguine optimist”.

The album, which is currently getting radio play across the US and Canada on more than 84 stations, has already charmed the other side of the Atlantic. Set for release in the UK on 13th October on 157 Records, early indications suggest it will do much the same over here.

Nell Bryden’s 2008 tour continues at the following dates.
