London, UK — Kerchoonz, the UK-based social networking site that pays musicians for the use of their music and videos, announced today that they will be the first site to use age certification and rating system for videos content streamed on the site.

The announcement conforms with recommendations made last month by Parliament’s Commons Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee. The panel determined that videos posted on sharing sites like YouTube should carry age certificates and those containing adult content or violence should be subject to TV-style ratings commonly used today to safeguard children.

“We want to comply as much as possible with the recommendations of policy makers while not stifling the free speech of our registered content creators,” noted Christian Ulf Hansen, former Director of Writer / Publisher Relations BMI Europe. “Unlike sites like YouTube which simply use an adult block, we’ve developed a complex rating system that protects youngsters from unsuitable content while providing conditional access to our registered users.”

Although pornographic material will be barred from the Kerchoonz site, videos uploaded to the site will be subject to a rating system based on nudity, violence or explicit language. The system includes ‘universal’, over-15 or over-18 ratings.

In meeting the panels recommendations, Kerchoonz’ rating system will block adult content from public viewing on the site prior to 9:00 PM. In addition, content rated “15″ and “18″ will only be accessible to logged-in adult users. The rating system will operate using Geo IP address location technology that recognizes time differences world-wide by logging the IP location of the user.

Slated for launch this month and backed by a $490,000 investment from the Scottish Co-investment Fund, social media platform Kerchoonz lets registered artists and songwriters share their music and videos with fans while getting paid for every stream and download.

Fans, musicians and music industry professionals are invited to sign up in this pre-beta stage at http://www.kerchoonz.com

TEL-AVIV, Israel – Bamboo MediaCasting, the leading episodic mobile content delivery provider, has announced the release of SilverStripe 2.0. The new release will allow users to synch their favorite internet content to their mobile phones making it available to them with automatic updates, on the go. Utilizing Bamboo’s Push-Store-Play™ mobile technology, the new release supports mobile advertisement focusing on video and audio ads cached for immediate and highest quality viewing.

“Our newest version of SilverStripe has improved our graphical user-interface and expanded our server-side content ingestion, delivery scheduling and content adaptation capabilities” explained Meir Fuchs, VP, Research and Development of Bamboo MediaCasting, Inc. “Bamboo is utilizing its push-store-play technology to redefine rich media consumption on the mobile phone, creating a new standard for simplicity, immediacy, availability and rich media quality”

The SilverStripe service, already deployed by a Tier-one mobile operator in Europe, as well as several Asia-based service providers, utilizes existing mobile networks and facilitates off-peak delivery to minimize network congestion, data costs, and service disruption. The service allows for episodic viewing of rich-media content including news, video podcasts, TV and Radio shows and music for users. The channel-based subscription model allows subscribers to select the content they desire, and then enjoy the full-track media on their mobile phones without having to search and browse and without the need for an active network connection. Users are notified when new material arrives and has been stored. With one click the rich-media can be played anytime, anywhere, in superb quality.

“As our company grows with our customers, it was time for Bamboo MediaCasting to enhance its solution,” added Guy Morag, CEO of Bamboo MediaCasting, Inc. “SilverStripe 2.0’s release takes advantage of the consumer appetite for widely available internet content, effectively bridging the gap between content consumers view at work or at home and what SilverStripe now enables them to easily access and view on the go.”

About Bamboo MediaCasting

Bamboo MediaCasting Inc. (www.bamboomc.com) provides unique episodic rich-media delivery solutions for a broad range of mobile phones. Bamboo empowers mobile operators and service/content providers to conveniently deliver highest-quality, affordable rich media to be played anytime, anywhere.
About SilverStripe
