Born and raised in the Big Apple, Susannah Blinkoff began singing professionally in clubs and off-Broadway when she was only twelve years old. As an actress, she has appeared in numerous TV movies, sitcoms and plays on both coasts. With plentiful experience on the stage, she decided to to take her act and talent to the world of music.

It did not take long for her music to catch on as her hook filled pop-rock songs have been featured on MTV’s hit shows such as “My Super Sweet Sixteen” and in the feature film “My Super Ex-Girlfriend.”
With Let’s Pretend, her second full-length release, Susannah typifies the indie spirit and the multi-talented reputation she has garnered over the years. While reaching back to a solid foundation of rock and pop the singer/songwriter takes equal elements of country, folk, and spirituals then churns out one stunning track after another on Let’s Pretend.
Without forgetting from where she came, she does not disappoint as “I Got Lucky” gets things good and warm and “My Time Now” kicks it up a notch on an emotional level, making a strong personal statement for the singer. Tracks like “Be Alright” take her vocal talents to new heights with a fiery backdrop to help support her and in the same instance; the excellent musicianship provided on the recording allows Susannah to take everything in a different direction with the haunting “The Storm Is Passing Over.”
You won’t find any cookie cutter pop rock on Let’s Pretend; it offers nothing but versatility and variety, a mirror image of the performer. Visit Susannah Blinkoff’s website for updates, pictures, performance dates and more.

New York’s Post-Pop duo KOKO DOZO’s members — Amy Douglas and Polarity/1 — remember 9/11 well. P/1 shares a neighborhood with the fallen towers. They remember; and they know that you remember. That day will live on in our nation’s DNA. Death, destruction and the trauma of invasion generate a force of memory that is trivialized by media rituals with solemn speech-making, dazzling graphic design, dramatic background music and the droning subtext of fear and vengeance.

KOKO DOZO also want to point out that national tributes to The Fallen — the rendering of tragedy as fetish — inevitably lead to more death, less freedom and the assurance that healing will never occur. For the past seven years America has celebrated the nightmare of 9/11 with a ceaseless Dance of Death. What has gone unnoticed and unheralded are all of us who have remained alive and who breathe life into the future with wisdom gained from that day. We are not “heroes” and we do not lobby for the construction of monuments to ourselves. We do not inspire insane acts of aggression and repression. We are not sexy ad copy for political campaigns. Living fearlessly is our act of defiance against brutality. That is what ultimately will make us safe and prosperous.

KOKO DOZO proclaims that the daily act of living through tragedy is more worthy of a holiday than death and destruction. We’re alive! And we want to celebrate being alive on September 11. And on every September 11 to follow. Life springs from the living. Creativity springs from the living. Hope and possibility are the natural expression of life in motion.

KOKO DOZO has chosen to perform on 9/11 and they will not request a moment of silence. They want their audience to dance. They want everybody to go out and dance; to remember the dead and celebrate the living. Be alive! It feels good. KOKO DOZO proclaims that it’s ok to feel good. Especially on September 11.

Koko Dozo play Club NME on Thursday, Sept 11th, 2008 with Boy Wonder www.myspace.com/boywonder and more. Go to www.myspace.com/clubnmenyc for more on lineup. This show should not be missed.

2008 Dove Award winning musician Ryan Farish announced the release of his brand new single, “In This Moment”, available worldwide via iTunes and all major digital music stores/distributors. The EP reveals the next chapter in Farish’s signature chilled electronic pop sound, and includes two remixes - the “Summer Mix” and “Positive Chillout Mix.”

“‘In This Moment’ by Ryan Farish begins with a beautiful piano line that segues into a delightful mix of breakbeats and choir-like background vocals. The piano remains consistent throughout the song, serving as the backbone to a stunning instrumental. With its chilled out atmospheric vibe, “In This Moment” will transcend listeners to a sea of tranquility. Simply put, a peaceful, majestic, song.” Eric Hartline, MusicDish

Technology is truly amazing today for recording artists. The day of paying thousands for studio time is for the elite, the select few. Indie talent like Susannah Blinkoff team up with people like Rich Jacques to produce an entire album in his living room. The multi-talented Jacques also added backup vocals and played all the instruments with the exception of drums on a few tracks. I realize this is commonplace but it will always amaze me how this is done and in such a professional and convincing fashion.

Let’s Pretend is a rock-pop album bright with energy and sweet rhythms led by a female voice that takes you prisoner for the length of the recording. Susannah has an articulate and sensual vocal style that fits the song selection well. Her tone is also very suitable for jazz as well so if for some reason she decided to take that path at some point I would not be surprised.

The first five tracks show Blinkoff in a good light, focusing on her compelling vocals backed by good music that is an effective blend of pop and rock for her style. “I Got Lucky” gets your motor running while “My Time Now” makes a personal statement. Both tracks should receive heavy airplay and I think be earmarked for singles. The following tracks maintain a similar level of consistency until she decides to cover Billy Joel’s “Vienna.” Unfortunately, I just covered the Legacy version of that album so I did not think this was a good choice for me to hear. I guess timing is everything. Her vocals have a distinct sedated feel to them, like everything changed to slow motion. That was the only stinker in the whole lot here as the next five tracks pick up where she left off with excellent vocals and music. “Be Alright” has a country-rock atmosphere with some smokin’ guitar licks as the singer takes flight and follows the music as if she was meant to sing a song like this all along, it is absolutely one of the highpoints of the album. “Live On” also has a country-folk-rock thing going on and a very serious overtone that carries on through the entire run of the song. “The Storm Is Passing Over” sounds like an old spiritual passed down through the ages - it is one of the few tracks that Blinkoff did not actually write but she does a great job with it and makes it her own.

All of this proves what a great and versatile talent Susannah Blinkoff is. She nearly covers the extent of genres all in one album and leaves you feeling there is yet so much more to discover with her. This is a good thing for an artist trying to make her mark and gain new fans. This process should be a natural thing for this woman. The sky is the limit for someone with so much crossover ability.

The bands first try topped MM TV’s (Bulgaria’s most popular music television) International Airplay Chart, holding on to the #1 spot for three consecutive weeks. ‘Away’ would later be included in NovaXposure - the monthly compilation released by ‘Radio Ventures’ with songs by Elton John, Sarah Connor, Alcazar and others.

Gravity’s second single ‘Mr. No One’ would set the critics straight, as to the bands potential, taking a play-list space in BMG’s official weekly video compilation, alongside Carlos Santana and Christina Aguilera.

The band stretched the boundaries further when Bill Withers granted official permission to record and release a cover version of his all time classic ‘Ain’t No Sunshine.

‘Away’, ‘Mr. No One’ and ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ all made the cut for Gravity Co.’s highly anticipated debut album ‘U’ released December 13th 2002. Gravity, have since been identified by an original electro pop sound, with warm vocal melodies over pumping electro beats.

An instant success, ‘U’ brought home the first music awards - ‘Best Debut’ and ‘Best Pop/Dance Album’, from MM TV’s annual awards (the Bulgarian equivalent of the Brits).

Having released two celebrated albums, known for their engaging stage antics - performing full capacity venues and supporting the likes of the Stereo MC’s, Fun Lovin’ Criminals and more recently Ladytron - Gravity Co. teamed up with a wide range of popular Bulgarian DJ’s to remix some of the band’s hits.

AWARDS

- ‘Best Debut’ and ‘Best Pop/Dance Album’, from MM TV’s annual awards (the Bulgarian equivalent of the Brits).
- Holding on to the #1 spot for three consecutive weeks in the MM TV’s (Bulgaria’s most popular music television) International Airplay Chart.
- ‘Wings’, the first video by a Bulgarian Artist with airplay on MTV! Boasting Giorgio de Chirico inspired 3D animation - courtesy of one of Bulgaria’s finest Alexander Sokerov - ‘Wings’ would be played 13 weeks running on MTV’s World Chart Express.
- ‘Best Band’ from the annual MM TV awards of 2005. An additional ‘Band of the Year’ award was presented by Melo TV Mania’s annual awards.
- ‘Best Rock/Alternative Song’ for ‘What I Want’ (‘Instinct’ 2005) from the annual MM TV awards 2006
- On the 25 of March 2007, minutes before taking the stage to contribute a mind-blowing ‘Empty World’ against a multi-media frenzy, on the night of the BG Radio Music Awards Ceremony, the boys were called to the stage to collect the ‘Best Band Award’.
- Gravity Co. are the uncontested winners at the MMTV Music Awards, with the record 4 statuettes:
Best Pop/Dance song - Empty World
Best Pop/Dance Album - Mixedup
Best Band
Best Music Video - Empty World /Directed by Valeri Milev/

MUSIC QUOTES

The debut album “U” by the most successive Bulgarian’s band Gravity Co. is from those releases that on the first listen, you knew something amazing was happening but didn’t quite grasp it. By the second listen, you are hooked. By the third, fourth, and fifth listens, you realized you had stumbled upon a rare gem. The album range somewhere, between pop and electronic music with eminent contemporary elements, which sometimes even goes beyond the expectations. But to those with patience and an ear for the sublime, this will become one of the most rewarding and satisfying electronica albums of the decade. The sheer talent in this record is staggeringly high. Not only these guys have reached a new tier of studio production and aesthetic precision, but on top of that, the vocals are truly incredible. More importantly, it’s noticeable in the sequencing and mastering of each perfectly-layered sound. Listen on a solid, high-end system, and all the textures will open up and dance across the room in perfect balance. “U” has achieved a new level of greatness and this is easily some of the best music albums you could have in your collection.

Atlanta, GA- Destiny Praise is thrilled to announce that their CD, entitled “Driven”, was released worldwide on June 3rd, 2008. Destiny Praise is a powerful Christian vocal ensemble with a stylistically layered urban sound flavored with a combination of jazzy soul, R&B, a dash of pop, heavy bass lines, and pure anointed voices. Since 2001, this Atlanta-based group of nine has performed an urban praise and worship experience appealing to all ages with their fiery inspiration and uplifting rhythms.

Because of the success of Destiny Praise’s two previous independent releases, the record industry took notice of the innovative ensemble. The group’s label, Destiny Style Records, signed a national distribution deal with Taseis Media Group in February 2008, generating a great deal of excitement and anticipation for the group’s first National Release.

Driven’s inspiring first single, “His Will”, has exploded onto the airwaves of radio stations nationwide, becoming the second most-added song to gospel station play-lists. The spiritually powerful song debuted at number 30* on the R&R gospel charts and is destined to rise higher as listeners are inspired by the song, “His Will”. The accompanying video is also currently in heavy rotation on The Gospel Music Channel and BET Video Gospel. Both the single and the video are steadily building audience anticipation and excitement for the debut of Driven. Record Producer Travon Potts feels strongly about this inspirational CD. He remarked, “I have worked on many albums and there isn’t a project that I have worked on that has more heartfelt, God-given songs to touch the lives of people all over the world. These energetic, gifted performers have been blessed with many opportunities to share their talents. In 2007 DP performed at the Gospel Choice Music Awards and won the category of Best Duo/Group. They performed at the 2005 Trumpet Awards, were featured on the debut album of Integrity Gospel Recording Artist “Charles & Taylor,” opened for greats such as: Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Kim Burrell, Donnie McClurkin, and John P. Kee to name a few.

Springing from the source of Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church in Atlanta, Destiny Style Records was founded in 2001 by Dr. and Mrs. Bryan E. Crute. DSR exists as a subsidiary of Destiny Style Ministries. Destiny Praise’s mission is to export musical expression all over the world, across all color lines, sharing the Gospel through song so that in the midst of life situations all who hear can be encouraged, saved and strengthened for God’s purpose.

OK. Originally the plan was to release this album last summer but not all plans are built with cement foundations. But now the cement has been poured and the release of Tim Young Band’s ‘The Cost’ is about to happen right around the 4th of July. OK it’s still not an exact date but early July 2008 is really the real deal!

The Cost is thirteen tunes that are constructed to last. One play will never be enough. These are the rock/pop tunes that radio used to deliver into the car radio and then the car would begin to move faster and the volume would be turned up and the people in the car would all feel all right. Really.

Produced by Mark Meisel and Bob Becker of Detroit’s Counter Clockwise Music, these guys have a knack for being able to bring all the good stuff in a tune to the top where it belongs. It took over a year to reach this point of completion but the smiles seen all around are so worth it.

The Cost is the third release by New York City’s Tim Young. Filling out the band is New York native Sand Edwards on drums. Tim and Sand play all the dives on 9th avenue in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan. On this release producer Mark Meisel added electric guitar and keyboards. Also Rick Becker on electric guitar on the final track, ‘Renegade,’ which also appeared originally on Tim’s sophomore release, Red in 2005.

Dave Davis of Sound Images in Cincinnati, Ohio mastered The Cost.

The Cost will be available at CD Baby and at timrocksweb.com which is the official website of Tim Young Band.

More information will be posted here as the release date nears.

Gordon Weiss starts his Sum of Its Parts CD in a strange way with a woman reciting a deranged version of “Roses Are Red” (from the Italian horror classic Suspiria) on “Fountains of Weezer,” then he starts singing his purposefully distorted vocals. He then makes a statement with his guitar on the track, which abruptly cuts off the psycho woman and leads right into the song. This is his own personal tribute to Fountains of Wayne and Weezer. From this point forward, what he sets you up for is a grand listening experience full of rock-pop nuggets.

Weiss is another incredibly gifted indie musician, he plays guitar, piano, bass, percussion, everything but the kitchen sink and then writes all of his own music and lyrics. The superlative prog-rocker Jeff Cannata produced the recording in his studio. Cannata is like an underground Todd Rundgren of sorts, taking artists like Weiss under his wing and getting every ounce of talent from him and the visiting musicians that assist Weiss in getting this recording together. Weiss benefited from this atmosphere and the result is superb as Sum of Its Parts is an excellent rock-pop album that reminded me of early Steely Dan, and that put a smile in my heart that would not go away. It felt that way for me from track 2 to 12.

When Weiss cuts loose on ‘Red Shoes Revisited” it turns out to be a real pop gem, the kind of song you hear on those warm summer nights blaring from cars driving by or from the neighbors open window. The following track is “Unforgivable,” which starts with an unforgettable hook via Weiss’s six-string and it weaves its way through the meat of the track. This is the one song when the Steely Dan thing hit me; all I could think of was their first album “Can’t Buy a Thrill.” This is a good thing, a real tribute to how good Weiss is and the lasting impression he made on me.

There is also plenty of influence of the Fab 4 in this music. “Half of Harry,” sounds like a Lennon and McCartney tune if I ever heard one and the harmonies and chorus, then the psychedelic guitar licks accompanied by the keyboards emulating the Sgt. Pepper like horns pushed me into a reminiscent frame of mind again. I have to wonder if Weiss also listened to a lot of 10cc (Note ‘Hook, Line and Singer”) in his day. Well it is all good regardless of the influences Weiss sounds fresh, vibrant and original and I know how difficult that can be when you have so many influences that are instantly recognizable.

Let’s face it, there is more crap than quality music out there now, I think it’s probably a 10 to 1 ratio at this point, with the good being on the low end of the scale. This is a good album worth investigating.
