Virtual Venues Network (VVN), a pioneering media company that produces high-definition, virtual concert experiences at clubs and theaters, has introduced an exciting new opportunity for independent filmmakers, music documentary producers and makers of alternative content. “Indie Roadshow” will provide an alternative to traditional theatrical presentations with a new, state-of the-art digital showcase environment offered to nightclubs and college music venues. The “Indie Roadshow” will be offered exclusively through the Virtual Venues Network beginning October 2008.

“This is an entirely new channel for independent distribution” says CEO Michael Horne, “In addition to the great concert footage that has been submitted for inclusion in our “Virtual Concert Experience” environment, we’ve received great documentaries and indie projects that are perfectly suited to the college and nightclub audience.” The Indie Roadshow will feature pre-release exclusive screenings and stage DVD release events city to city, on tour, all year round.

VVN books high-definition music content onto nightclub stages, replicating the live concert and bringing national touring acts into smaller markets they would not reach on tour. VVN is currently outfitting nightclubs and college venues with projectors, their patented, ClubLyncTM digital players and installing life-size screens on-stage at each venue. They are currently coordinating a 60-city tour with “Hi-Def From Red Rocks featuring The String Cheese Incident.” While The String Cheese Incident is no longer touring live, the three hour, twenty minute Virtual Concert Experience is reuniting fans in hometown venues across the country.

Visit www.virtualvenuesnetwork.com for programming info and upcoming Virtual Concert and Indie Roadshow screenings or contact Virtual Venues Network at 831-421-9500.

Click on the link below to view. Available for preview on YouTube, this scenic video features the single “Smooth” (Top 15 Radio and Records and Top 30 SmoothJazz.com) from Dwayne’s 2008 release Higher Calling.

Higher Calling, which features stellar guest appearances by Erykah Badu and Kirk Whalum has received accolades from reviewers. Susan Frances of the Jazz Review proclaimed, “… makes jazz music Higher Callingas beautiful as it comes…” and Abkar Nour of Smooth Jazz Now declared Kerr “an extraordinary groovy flutist.” Lovingly received by radio, the single “Ain’t No Sunshine” with Erykah Badu reached the Top 10 on Radio and Records.

More about the artist:

Kerr was hired to play as a band member for Grammy Award-winning Erykah Badu in 1998. While touring with Erykah, Dwayne has played in Africa, Italy, Japan, throughout Europe and Scandinavia, on the all-female artists Lilith Fair Tour and television appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, MTV’s Real World, The Oprah Show, Live! With Regis and BET Live.

While touring and recording with Erykah Badu for the past several years, Dwayne added his sound to recordings including Ms. Badu’s version of the Chaka Khan hit, “Hollywood,” which is on the soundtrack/CD to the Spike Lee movie, Bamboozled, on Motown Records and Erykah’s song, “Today,” which is on the Red Star Sounds compilation CD on Epic Records. Kerr played on Erykah’s latest CD, Worldwide Underground, and her previous CD, Mama’s Gun, on Motown Records.

Raised and still residing on Long Island, New York, Kerr attended New York colleges Nassau Community College, SUNY-Stony Brook and SUNY-Old Westbury, where he was trained classically and in jazz. Kerr is a brilliant flutist who is moving the flute into other genres of music not often explored. Connecting with the audience both in a live setting and on recordings is a trait well-respected by others in the industry. “I’ve seen Dwayne inspire many people all over the world with his sound,” said RC Williams, Producer/co-songwriter Higher Calling and Producer/Songwriter/MD for Erykah Badu.

A by-product of his ascending career, Kerr signed a deal with AKG Acoustics in 2001 to endorse an AKG wireless headset system. When not touring with Ms. Badu, Kerr is active in his venture as a solo artist, most notable having performed at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, the Jazz & Broadway Concert at the United Nations and at halftime of several National Basketball Association games. Dwayne has performed on shows with or opened shows for Erykah Badu, Regina Belle, Roy Hargrove, Marion Meadows, Stephanie Mills, Vanessa Rubin and other noted artists.

“As I watch my friend in amazement,” Erykah said of Dwayne, “the high tones and the trills become part of me, helping me to grow on stage. I don’t know which is sweeter, his tone or his soul.”

The release of Higher Calling is indeed a new chapter in the life of this astounding artist. The making of the project was an organic process that evolved into a musical diary of the musicians involved.

Jeff Feinstein, producer & keys, said, “I think I could write a novel on my experiences with Dwayne and “the cast” of Higher Calling. The most important chapter would be on how much your work can intertwine with life, love and believing in yourself. To me, working on the project represented strong earthly proof of why not to give up on my dreams and God…no matter what.”

The 1940’s Film Noir inspired video for the single “Second Time Around” is at this video link.

Goodbye (single) – August 25th, 2008
Second Time Around (single) – October 6th
Second Time Around (album) - October 13th

With over 350 shows in the last two years including four tours of the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Germany, Nell Bryden - American songstress, poet and free spirit - is back on the UK shores with a new collection of stirring songs.

‘Second Time Around’ (released 13th October, 2008) is an anthology of ten blues, country / modern Dixie and jazz tracks all delivered in Nell’s sassy and vibrant yet elegant and sexy style. A woman of many musical talents, she not only writes and sings but also plays electric, acoustic and twelve string guitars as well as the dobro and cello on the record.

Renowned for her live shows, Nell has already supported KT Tunstall and lined up opening slots for the Counting Crows this July. Also famous for her vocal ability, she has a reputation for entertaining with a playful rock `n roll lure yet still warming even the coldest of hearts.

Drawing influences from Ryan Adams and Bob Dylan through to soul divas like Nina Simone and Bonnie Raitt, Nell’s musical heritage is rich. Born in Brooklyn into an artistic family Nell grew up with her father, an impressionist painter and her mother who was a classical singer. Her musical development began early with her studying the piano at 4 and then picking up the cello aged 9 - she later taught herself to write music.

“Most of my songs are about some sort of longing for meaningful love, and I remain a completely hopeful romantic. My lyrics have a darker undertone but I’m essentially a sanguine optimist”.

The album, which is currently getting radio play across the US and Canada on more than 84 stations, has already charmed the other side of the Atlantic. Set for release in the UK on 13th October on 157 Records, early indications suggest it will do much the same over here.

Nell Bryden’s 2008 tour continues at the following dates.
8th July – Liverpool Arena - supporting The Counting Crows (8pm) – Liverpool
10th July – Ambassador Theatre – supporting The Counting Crows (8pm) – Dublin, Ireland

If you can’t decide on a candidate in this year’s presidential election, then vote for Hillary Obama. Who? Watch “Pick One (the music video)” and find out.

Mike Foster, creator of livelife365.com, has just released his latest studio recording, lampooning the too-close-to-call contest for the Democratic nomination between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. A spirited mix of Americana, Country, and County Rock, “Pick One” is a toe-tapping tune you’ll be humming all day, while the lyrics have you nodding in agreement. Foster’s suggested solution of Hillary Obama as the candidate, revealed at the end of the video, is not to be missed.

Inspired by his interest in two exceptional and, in obvious ways, unprecedented candidacies, Mike “wanted to write a song that would not only entertain and make you laugh a little, but also call attention to this remarkable electoral season. I started playing around with the names and went from there.” The enjoyment he finds in performing, especially singing and playing guitar, shines through in this well-produced music video that could well have America singing along with its bouncy melody and catchy lyrics.

The production of a thought-provoking parody of the 2008 political scene is only one example of Foster’s work found at livelife365.com, a video-driven website dedicated to healthy living, personal development, and entertainment. With a background as a writer and stage actor, and clearly possessing an eye and ear attuned to what is happening in the world, he shows considerable promise as a singer/songwriter and videographer. His efforts include an interesting collection of short films related to a wide variety of topics, ranging from nutritional and dietary advice to motivational and self-improvement tips, from humorous vignettes and observations to sober reflections on the sometimes painful lessons he’s learned in life. You can even find information on sports, current events, and hobbies like book collecting and gardening. His major focus is on maintaining a careful balance between and within your physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions.

Watch the “Pick One” video at:
http://www.livelife365.com/ or http://www.youtube.com/livelife365

Indian hip-hop label, Desi Media Networks launched its hip-hop/rap group named DNOAX with an eleven strong, London based, Indian hip-hop/rap combo. Pretty unique take on the genre is surprisingly fresh and beautifully vibrant; eastern influences pour themselves in and out of the genre-typical pulsating grooves and you find yourself being slowly sucked in to DNOAX musical ethos. And, having been willingly rather than reluctantly sucked in you could honestly say, hey this is cool - I love it!!

There are four really crisp, really tasty tracks included here; ‘They See (DESI) Revolution’, ‘The Moment’, ‘DNOAX Is Back’ and ‘Bhool Na Jana’ - and, really are inspired! DNOAX create a beautifully rounded sound as it chops and changes between ’street’ English and India’s native ’street’ language. It’s weird coz you don’t really need to know what they’re singing about - you just have to let the music wrap itself around you and sit back and nestle in its warm exterior. And, that warm exterior surrounds a very well crafted, luxuriant and equally warm interior - in fact, this work is performed and produced to a very high standard and DNOAX is very proud of themselves for givin’ it their all!

If you have any leanings towards world music or appreciate true ‘international’ vibes then you might just find this as entertaining and rewarding as every listener earlier experienced; DNOAX would certainly make u sit up. This is a fascinating fusion , Hip-hop music isn’t tied into any Nation, race or creed but it does tend to be associated more with black American artists more than anything else. The Brits have done it and it’s been handled successfully in Europe - so its walkin’ the right path with Asian or Indian nuances and the answer is DNOAX and supposedly it doesn’t actually defy logic - there’s no reason at all why Indian artists shouldn’t have something to say through what is essentially music of and for the street!!

DNOAX, with ‘They See (desi) Revolution’ have brought a smile to all the listeners and viewers across the globe and a twinkle to their toes - DNOAX has a great future - their music will appeal to a pretty wide audience and as this whole trip is properly promoted and it could very well come to pass that ‘they see revolution’ in hip-hop/rap music with the likes of the excellent DNOAX and their ‘world’ contemporaries. Most unusual but extremely pleasing stuff from a great sounding combo - pleasantly surprising and damn cool to partake of - DNOAX rock and that’s the truth!!

And here is a dekko of their ground-breaking, brand new video. They See (Desi) Revolution

Cevin Soling, producer for the cult film ‘A Hole In The Head,’ will be on-hand for its virtual premiere screening in the MusicWorld3D virtual community on Thursday, March 27th, 2008 at 9:00 PM EST. Cevin will introduce the hour-long film about trepanation - the process of boring a hole in the skull - as well as take questions from host Rick Heid and avatar audience.

“I can think of many things that are commonplace today which I think are harder to justify than trepanation. Body piercing and tattooing are other forms of body mutilation, though we use the polite word ‘modification’. There is a psychological response that accompanies these acts for the people who have it done which is why they are drawn to them. The effect of trepanation might be a similar mechanism, or it may be physiological as well. Evidence of the latter would substantiate the procedure to a greater degree than the recreational forms of body alteration. Using drugs as a means to attain a state of consciousness has the drawbacks of being temporary and having side effects that either interfere with brain function or adversely affect health.”

The film won the Best Documentary Award at both Atlantic City Film Festival and Brooklyn International Film Festival, and was later broadcast on the Discovery and Learning Channels. ‘A Hole In The Head’ is now available on DVD at http://www.holeintheheadmovie.com
