Boston, MA - In 2007 Brian Rolland released The Tide’s In, a highly acclaimed jazz-pop release featuring Rolland’s beautiful acoustic guitar lines…expertly played and defined by some of the finest craftsmanship found in the independent music community. The Tide’s In debuted at #3 on the New Age/World/Ambient Charts for April 2008, and has been creeping up on the College Radio Top 10 World and Jazz charts over recent months.

The Cambridge Massachusetts native is a well-traveled soul and along the way, he received some fine training from some very special mentors before he released his recorded works.

Brian Rolland gives his listeners a nice variety, a colorful palette of New World Jazz with splashes of Rock, Classical, Spanish, New Age, Folk, Blues and Pop. Brian uses the nylon string guitar primarily and the steel string and electric guitar, plays the piano, and on occasion, he offers some vocals. All of his talents are brought forth with strength on TThe Tide’s In.

Brian is a seasoned and well-schooled jazz musician giving the discerning jazz lover and guitar aficionados a reason to celebrate. Right from the opening track, he creates a nice healing atmosphere with intricate, soft and inviting guitar lines featuring the golden touch of some lovely female vocals that encourages Brian’s guitar to step deeper into the flowing waters on some select tracks. The journey is one of enchantment and enlightenment through music. Only a talented and insightful musician can create music such as this and Brian Rolland consistently displays the ability to make this happen throughout The Tide’s In.

With a similar sound of Dave Matthews Band and the Barenaked Ladies, 16 Beers to Bedtime is an album of laid-back acoustic songs that are easy- to- listen- to whether it be at a bar or driving along in your car. Bobby Vincent came onto the rock scene in 2005 with the release of his self-titled acoustic EP. Since, he has been tearing up the Tempe, Arizona music scene.

16 Beers to Bedtime displays Bobby St. Vincent’s strong vocal range and his ability to write decent medium-tempo acoustic rock songs. The lead guitars on “16 Beers to Bedtime” are what give the album its true vibe and feeling, which, at times, is lacking in some of the songs. The songs in the beginning of the album are not “bad” per say, but they grow tiring and the sounds blend together. The change comes with, “All the Same,” a bluesy, upbeat energetic song. Up until this track, I wasn’t sure if I was going to end up liking this album. The blues guitars on this song are musically dynamic between the solos and the rhythm guitar. This song has a completely different vibe and picks up the pace of an otherwise boring album. “Girls” displays Vincent’s sexier lower voice and brings in a unique beat and distortion guitars at the end with rocking solo.

“Feel Good Music” brings in the background sounds of a bar, which definitely gives the song a bar/club vibe. In general this song has more of a groove with its lead guitar, bass and acoustic guitar working together to create a certain rock feeling. ”Dreams” comes out of nowhere with a completely different vibe than the rest of the album— one that is moodier and darker. This song is musically creative, carrying a heavier and more emotional weight than most of the feel-good songs on the album. “Without You” continues with this emotional depth. The song begins with only a solo guitar and Vincent singing in a deep, moody voice. Because this song does not have many instruments, there is a raw appeal, which I found breathtaking compared to the beginning of the album.

Overall, I would like to see Bobby St. Vincent explore different sounds like he did with “All the Same” and “Dreams.” While he can write likeable acoustic songs, as an artist, I think he should diverge somewhat from that easy-listening acoustic rock sound that he has displayed in the majority of this album.

On December 11, 2006, Wildflowers Records singer-songwriter Amy Speace was in NY for a live interview on WFUV 90.7 FM’s “Folk Sunday Breakfast with John Platt.” Now her live performances on the show, including songs ‘The Real Thing,’ ‘Dreamin’ and ‘Step Out of the Shade’, are exclusively available through social network site ReverbNation at http://www.reverbnation.com/amyspeace

This coincides with the release by MusicDish of Amy’s most memorable radio performances through a new downloadable MP3 album “Amy Speace – Live On Radio.” Gathering nine tracks from performances on Ft. Collins’ KRFC 88.9 FM, NY’s WFUV 90.7 FM and Boston’s WMBR 88.1 FM, as well as syndicated show The Art of Song, the album is available for download at http://www.musicdish.net/amyspeace/mp3/

John Platt’s three-hour tour of tunes strikes a balance between the “Joni Mitchells/Harry Chapins/Jackson Brownes” and “lesser-known but equally talented” singer/songwriters. Guests have ranged from icons like Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, Loudon Wainwright, and Judy Collins, to WFUV mainstays like Dar Williams, Bruce Cockburn, and Luka Bloom, to emerging artists like Richard Julian, Sonya Kitchell, and Ben Taylor. With his gentle probing John helps us to know more about the music – and who the artists are as people.

From the rustic rush of “Step Out of the Shade” to the bittersweet lilt of “Water Landing” to the gentle acoustic intimacy of “Two,” Songs for Bright Street’s 12 original compositions (plus a slyly countrified reading of the Blondie classic “Dreaming”) showcase Speace’s unique gifts, offering catchy Americana with indelible hooks, sharply observed lyrics and a gritty urban edge. Among those impressed by her sassy songcraft is legendary folk-pop songstress Judy Collins, who chose Songs for Bright Street to release on her new Wildflower label.

Amy Speace has already won a loyal grass-roots fan base, thanks in large part to live performances that merge warmth, humor and emotional immediacy, and to a tireless touring schedule that’s already taken her across the United States. She’s also won considerable critical acclaim, with The Village Voice observing that Speace is “taking her Americana away from twangy contemplation toward tangy confrontation” and noting that she’s “not another of those breathy would-be child poets, but a real singing writer of songs.” Time Out New York stated, “Amy Speace plays sweet, twangy folk music with a clear voice and an innocent vulnerability,” while The Nashville Scene noted that she “balances wry humor with open-hearted honesty.” And renowned Nashville critic Robert K.

The Internet-based Jimmy Bruno Guitar Institute (JBGI) announces that it has quadrupled in size, in just the last six months, to over 1350 paying students. Originally designed for 350 students, the JBGI has shattered all enrollment projections since opening in May 2007. “The growth has been phenomenal and gratifying”, says Affiliated Artists CEO and JBGI co-founder David Butler. “Now that guitarists know Jimmy Bruno’s unique and effective guitar method is available online, it has spread like wildfire.”

Jimmy Bruno’s New Worldwide Reach
Although never his intent, Jimmy Bruno may now be the most influential jazz guitar teacher in history, with students from 40 countries around the world under his direct supervision. Additionally, the JBGI student-body includes a large number of guitar teachers, who with Mr. Bruno’s permission and encouragement are in turn teaching Jimmy’s method to their students. Also, guitarists from areas of the world where there is no jazz instruction at all are converging on the JBGI to learn to play jazz correctly from an American jazz master.

Capacity concerns
Rapid communication amongst the close-knit guitar community, as well as open access to Jimmy Bruno has created a very large influx of students to the JBGI. Addressing concerns that the JBGI may be nearing capacity, Mr. Butler said, “It is true that we reduced our advertising while we regrouped, but we are committed to making the JBGI experience very high quality and it will continue to be available to all motivated students until our new technology is maximized.”

Innovation To Enable Broad Expansion
Empowered by proprietary video technology from JBGI parent company Affiliated Artists, Mr. Bruno interacts continuously with the JBGI student-body. To keep pace with projected growth, a new generation video management system is in the late stages of development at Affiliated Artists, to be deployed later this month. “The new system automates much of the technical stuff, freeing me to spend more of my time with the students and focus on their progress,” said Mr. Bruno. Mr. Butler adds, “The new Student Video Management System will increase JBGI’s capacity to over 4000 students, roughly two years of projected growth.”

Groundbreaking Approach – Hundreds of “Virtual” Master Classes
A large part of the success of the JBGI is the result of jazz guitar master Jimmy Bruno’s “firsthand” interaction with JBGI students. Unlike static online sites, JBGI students receive direct and continuing guidance from Mr. Bruno through video interchanges, which keeps them on track. This interaction is in the form of “Master Classes”, an exchange of videos between students and Mr. Bruno. An added bonus is being able to watch him evaluate hundreds of fellow students via video. This combination brings a depth of knowledge unmatched in any other music instruction approach. There are currently over 450 Master Classes posted on the JBGI, with more added each week.

A Continuation of New Lesson Materials
Since the JBGI opened its door 10 months ago, the amount of lesson material has gone from around 70 formal lesson videos to well over 500 videos, including hundreds of “Master Classes”, and dozens of educational and entertainment videos. The JBGI recently added an adjunct faculty member, Philadelphia-based blues guitarist Johnny DeFrancesco, who created new JBGI course materials that focus on blues and blues-oriented rock.

The JBGI Sports A New Look
In addition to an under-the-covers technology overhaul, the Jimmy Bruno Guitar Institute has just been given a new look. Designed by Grammy-winning designer Jack Frisch, the new look enhances JBGI’s leading edge music instruction mission and signals yet another phase of continued growth for the Institute.

Wildflowers Records alternative-country artist Amy Speace has been interviewed and performed live on countless radio stations across the US in support of her third album “Songs for Bright Street”. MusicDish Network is now making some of her most memorable performances available through a new downloadable MP3 album “Amy Speace – Live On Radio.”

The MP3 album gathers 9 live tracks from performances on Ft. Collins’ KRFC 88.9 FM, NY’s WFUV 90.7 FM and Boston’s WMBR 88.1 FM, as well as The Art of Song, which was featured last summer on all 118 radio stations nationwide that syndicate the show. The album is available free for download at http://www.musicdish.net/amyspeace/mp3/

AMY SPEACE’S “LIVE ON RADIO” TRACKLISTING

* The Art of Song – with Dillon and Vivian Nebitt, Live from Taos, New Mexico
1. The Real Thing (3:00)
* KRFC 88.9FM Ft. Collins – Live at Lunch” (08/24/06)
2. Double Wide Trailer (4:02)
3. Row Row Row (4:49)
4. Shed This Skin (5:45)
8. After The Flood (3:33)
9. Make Me Lonely Again (4:49)

Oermann, writing in Music Row, dubbed her a “new star.”

Toronto-based singer/songwriter Peter Bloom will be opening the launch of Juliana Sparks long-awaited CD entitled “Juliana” at The Rivoli (334 Queen St. W., Toronto, east of Spadina) on May 7th, 2008 at 8:00 PM. Performing as an acoustic trio, Peter will perform songs from his just-released full-length debut “Random Thoughts (from a paralyzed mind)”.

Peter Bloom has the perfect gift for all those people who let fear prevent them from breaking free and reaching their potential. Drawing emotional strength and wisdom from his own powerful personal life experiences, his album is an insightful, musically and lyrically compelling debut that chronicles his dramatic shift from years of self-doubt (and physical problems with his voice) to his current emergence as a critically acclaimed, award winning artist and performer.

His newly assembled band’s first gig in December 2007 at The Cameron House—one of the city’s hip musical venues—saw many fans lining up after the show to buy CDs and get autographs. One review described Bloom’s live performance as “pure heart and raw energy.” Leading up to Random Thoughts’ official national March 2008 release, Peter Bloom Band is also set to play Toronto hotspot The Horseshoe, and headline for over 1,000 people at a benefit show for DANI (Developing and Nurturing Individuals), a local organization that raises money to help special needs people become more independent.

What the press is saying:

“For (people) keen to try Canadian pop but put off by all the oddball Montreal indie acts, the answer may come in the shape of Peter Bloom. Earnest as a Toronto winter day is short, Bloom makes sweeping piano pop redolent of late Beatles ballads or Chris Martin at his most thoughtful.”
Download.Com – Editor’s Review

“Peter Bloom is a singer-songwriter who learned all the right lessons from John, George, Ringo and especially Paul – not to mention Elton John and John (Five For Fighting) Ondrasik. This is simply gorgeous piano/orchestral-based pop, carried to the next level by Bloom’s insightful lyrics and full-bodied melodic sensibilities.”

Recorded onto tape, Tim Miller’s Adelaide is an example of emotionally- charged, mature songwriting. Produced by Chris Bell (Erykah Badu, Polyphonic Spree, Eagles) and mastered by Adam Ayan (Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, Phish, Ani DiFranco), Adelaide features Tim Miller’s honest and soothing voice performing melodic folk rock songs in a style similar to singer/songwriters, James Blunt and Ari Hest. Out Of The Box (2004) established this Dallas based singer/songwriter as an artist with a raw, honest approach and since Miller’s music has been licensed by MTV’s My Super Sweet 16, Real World, Road Rules, and The Challenge, and Tom Green’s film Shred II.

Adelaide is a collection of meaningful, slow-medium folk rock songs. While listening to this album, you get the feeling that any of these songs could easily be in a soundtrack during the turning point of a film. Miller’s guitars and vocals blend together effortlessly while the organ and piano perfectly compliment the basic folk rock sound of the album. Instead of keeping with the usual acoustic guitar and piano set-up that most folk rock musicians use, Miller brings in an organ on some songs, which makes the album stand out and creates an overall fuller sound. “Say Hello” is one of the album’s faster-paced rock songs that showcase this full organ sound, in addition to a melodic bridge and break down of electric guitar and voice. “Let’s Go” and “Another Day in the Life” are two additional solid, medium-tempo rock songs that move the album along nicely with catchy rock guitars and strong vocals. The rest of the album is slower-paced, folk rock ballads, including “Whom Am I,” an emotional song with dreamy acoustic guitars, dramatic piano and introspective lyrics. “Man Overboard,” another slower-paced rock folk song, features one of the album’s most catchy guitar riffs. In “Let us End,” Miller sings colorful harmonies, creating a soulful feel that reveals the depth of his vocal abilities. “Four Leaf Clover” brings in the mandolin and steel guitar to give the listener a taste of country. “This Life” features both a catchy piano and keyboard that give the song an ambiance of driving through the country at sunset.

Adelaide is an album of listenable instrumentation and dynamic songwriting. Tim Miller is definitely here to stay and I wouldn’t be surprised if very soon we start hearing his songs in more mainstream outlets.

ARTIST DESRIPTION

The music of Dimo Mitchev blends elements of Celtic, Renaissance and New Age styles using traditional classical instruments to create a sound at once soothing and evocative. His debut album “Bard’s Fly” is very well thought out in form, structure, character and an enchanting feature with each track that seemed to take you deeper and deeper into the world of the ancient celtic times – times of heroes and honour.

Primarily a composer, Dimo Mitchev developed a keen ear for the ethnical sounds of the world’s many musical styles, like mostly exposed to Medieval and Renaissance music. These experiences, along with an appreciation for the inherent beauty of the sounds lead him far away from his homeland into the cold Moscow, where he recorded “Bard’s Fly” with the help of students from Russian Academy of Music (Gnesin).
