On Saturday, August 23rd, 2008, at Club Soda in Montreal, Quebec, a collaboration of Canadian musicians joined forces with Confront Magazine to help create awareness for the charity ((( MAPMUSIC ))) – Musicians Against Parkinson’s founded by diagnosed Parkinson musician Robbie Tucker.

The event included performances by upcoming Canadian artists Arthur Kall, Monday Rose, Polar Eyes, The Hot Streak, La Confrerie and The New Cities as well as presentations by MapMusic founder, Robbie Tucker, Craig Buntin (currently the Canadian Pairs bronze medalist ranked 6th in the world) and MusiquePlus VJ Mathieu Marcotte.

The benefit’s main goal was to create strong awareness to all those in attendance and to educate that Parkinson’s disease doesn’t just affect the elderly but young adults and children.

“I was really pleased with the turn out and the generosity shown by all. It was a great cause and it was a privilege for our event as producers to be an Awareness Concert for MapMusic. We can’t wait to do it again.” Says Confront Editor Angel Karmazenuk.

The involvement of the music community and grateful work by the band The Hot Streak behind the scenes in aiding MAPMUSIC & Confront Magazine is highly appreciated.

Many music fans walked into the event uneducated of the disease and the common notion that Parkinson’s is a disease that causes shaking in the elderly. But as the night proceeded, the over 300 music fans of all ages walked away with a better understanding of Parkinson’s symptoms and effects as they were informed throughout the night by the many members of MAPMUSIC.

ABOUT: Canadian musician, Robbie Tucker, began 2008 with a promise. He pledged to create an organization to aid in his fight against Parkinson’s disease; and through this organization, to raise $1,000,000.00 to help others who are living with the illness.

MapMusic (((Musicians Against Parkinson’s))) aims to accomplish the following:

- Educate and change the way people think about Parkinson’s
- Help in Finding a cure
- Assist and motivate individuals living with Parkinson’s

MapMusic founder, Robbie Tucker, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 28. Now 31 years old, the musician is fully aware that there might come a time when his disease will permanently prevent him from performing live music. So now, with his medicated 2nd chance, he is pushing himself and his re?established abilities to the limit to avoid any future musical loss.

Craig Buntin, currently the Canadian Pairs bronze medalist, ranked 6th in the world has joined forces with MapMusic ((( Musicians Against Parkinson’s ))) to aide in the fight against Parkinson’s. Craig represented Canada at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games and, in addition to winning three Canadian National Pairs titles, has been an international competitor for ten years. His mom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease two years ago. This is not only his way of helping his mom, but all those affected with Parkinson’s.

What: Rock For Humanity 2008 charity concert in support of Street Health Toronto, On, Canada

When: Thursday July 10th 2008 at 9pm

Where: Sneaky Dee’s, Toronto, On

Toronto Is Ready To Rock For Humanity

Rock For Humanity, a registered non-profit organization will be hosting an evening concert at Sneaky Dee’s on July 10th, 2008 as part of their annual concert tour in support Street Health Toronto.

Featuring, “Dead City Citizens” (Kitchener), “Fifty Stars Anger” (Montreal), “Stop Drop n Skank” (Toronto), and “P.D.H” (Guelph), 100% of the proceeds goes directly to providing street level medical assistance to the homeless community of Toronto.

In Toronto, over 30,000 people check into homeless shelters at least once every year. 5000 of those people being children, and this figure is growing exponentially. People on the street are dying at an astonishing rate of between 2 and 4 every week and their average age is only a mere 46 years old. Even If someone is “lucky” enough to find a bed in one of the few shelters in Toronto that person faces mass overcrowding, tuberculosis, lice and a significantly increased threat of violence

Rock For Humanity is determined to bring homelessness to its knees through their music based events. Born out of a love of music and a passion for change, Rock For Humanity was created 5 years ago as a way for two 18 year old kids (at the time) to bring awareness to a growing national disaster.

“We love what we do and we love who we do it for,” says Jordan Howard, Co-founder of RFH. “We refuse to be known as the passive generation and it’s amazing to see the amount of people that truly care in this city. A few years ago I was in doubt, but now I see that there is actually a lot of hope”.

Rock For Humanity has grown from back room a bar endeavor to taking centre stage at some of Toronto’s most elite and famous concert venues. They have held concerts in every major city from Windsor to Ottawa and have raised thousands of dollars in support of their cause.

On July 10th Rock For Humanity will take centre stage yet again for its biggest and best concert to date. Tickets are available at the door for $5.00 and the event is 19 plus.

Duo Karen YOUNG & Eric AUCLAIR :: ElectroBeatniks will soon fly to London, UK for a showcase presentation of its upcoming CD at London Calling 2008. This first international invitation for the Duo puts us in such joy, we decided to invite fans and friends to a pre-London Calling Concert this Thursday June 12th at 8:00pm at Montreal’s Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur.

Duo Karen YOUNG & Eric AUCLAIR :: ElectroBeatniks is presently closing in on final production stage of it s first CD at Montreal’s Karisma Studio. This very unique musical project-jazz electro croos generation & genre – CD’s launch will surely raise lots of attention. Meanwhile, it is with great pleasure that Karen and Eric accepted CIRPA’s invitation – Canadian Independent Record Production Association – to showcase, as part of the first Canadian delegation at London Calling, to representatives of the UK and international live and recording music programmers participating to this important international music event.

Duo YOUNG & AUCLAIR :: ElectroBeatniks is the first of Karen’s projects bearing only her lyrics. The Duo also co-wrote 100% of all its music, while Eric Auclair is credited for 200% of the sampling and sound treatment. As always with Karen, this is great fusion. But the most interesting aspect of their achievement lies in their cross genre&generation fusion. This, from last year’s Roseq tour programme, is how their concert is presented.

Duo YOUNG & AUCLAIR :: ElectroBeatniks – A true live performance. With Karen Young’s signature, you can be certain it is great. Voice and double bass in duo is a favorite jazz combo. Here it comes with a +: Eric AUCLAIR’s sampling-pre-recorded and live. Powerful and rich or lace-like textures are used as sound-track to Karen’s crystal-clear voice and poetic songs. Electro-Beatniks, the title to this Duo concert and upcoming CD brings their jazz into the 21st century. Original songs, the incomparable voice of Karen YOUNG and the flowing bass lines of Eric AUCLAIR.

From songs to jazz, improv to sampling, and Ars Nova to slam. This exquisite concert is not to be missed!

Date / Time : Thursday June 12th, 2008 ; 8H00 pm.

America has never seen a rock band quite like ANJ, which will be hitting U.S. shores imminently for a summer tour. Fronted by captivating frontman and mastermind Anatoly Zhuravlev (AKA ANJ), the band describes itself as “Megadeth after five bottles of Russian vodka” – and indeed, the group’s sonic attack stands up to the most celebrated American metal.

But ANJ lacks the gloomy self-seriousness that characterizes much of the genre, citing “Slavic folklore” as an influence alongside Metallica; listeners accustomed to the cold-fish attitudes of mainstream metal-mongers will find ANJ a delicious blast of Russian caviar. Indeed, they’re closer in spirit to the satirical animated band Dethklok from Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim series Metalocalypse. This is largely due to Anatoly’s Eastern charm, self-aware humor and flair for storytelling, which make ANJ’s songs about as animated as live action can be. The indefatigable performer is also a filmmaker, and is currently preparing an action-suspense flick.

The band recently traveled to Los Angeles to record their song “Gorbachev” in English, assisted by producer John Travis (Kid Rock, Buckcherry), guitarist Levon Sultanian and drummer Roy Mayorga. The video was directed by comedy ace Tom Stern, known for his work on such series as Crank Yankers, The Man Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live and That’s My Bush.

In addition to its lead singer’s cocky, compelling theatricality, ANJ features the frenetic fretwork of prodigy guitarist Oleg Izotov. The Moscow-born axeman began playing at 13; by 16 he was a busy session musician. He later took first prize at the all-Russian “Mnogolikaya Gitara” (”Multifaced Guitar”) contest, as well as the “School of Rock” showdown organized by Russian MTV and the East-West company. In 2005, Oleg became Russia’s first and only endorser of Schecter guitars.

Formed in 2003, ANJ gave its first performance at a local MTV studio – and though the network’s producers expected pop-rock, the band quickly unleashed its amp-melting barrage. They soon gathered a rabid local following, fueled by the hit ballad “The First Night.” Their debut disc, Under an Intent Target, followed in short order. In 2005 they mounted their first international tour, beginning at the MetalMania fest in Katowice, Poland, and concluding (after an eight-month, scorched-earth campaign) at Moscow’s Luzhinski Arena. Eastern Europe quickly fell before their onslaught, and they’ve subsequently been welcomed as such metal and biker gatherings as Krasnogorsk Open Air, Friday 13th fest, Hail To Russia fest and Victory Fest.

ANJ represented Russia at 2006’s Finnish Metal Expo in Helsinki and at 2007’s Download in the UK.

MusicDish LLC, publisher of leading music magazines MusicDish and Music Industry News Network (Mi2N), announced a partnership with Montreal-based TiBConcerts.com, an online concert listings site for underground, independent music. Under the partnership, both entities have created white label content solutions for their respective audiences.

As part of the partnership, TiBConcerts has developed a white label concert listing for the Mi2N site (http://musicdish.tibconcerts.com/), publishing over 20,000 events from 33,000 venues across 7,000 cities. In the spirit of it’s own ‘open submission’ policy, Mi2N will encourage artists and promoters to submit event listings to TiBConcerts.com, particularly through prominent placement in its daily newsletters.

In turn, MusicDish has developed a white label newswire for the TiBConcerts.com site (http://www.mi2n.com/tibconcerts/), providing its 500,000 monthly concert fans with the coverage of the indie music scene as well as search, news submission and RSS functionalities. The newswire will also be available through TiBConcerts’ white label listings for two of the top three Canadian web portals increasing Mi2N’s reach to over 85% of the Canadian music traffic.

TiBConcerts.com joins a growing network of associated music websites carrying MusicDish’s private label newswires, including:
- Berlin-based music conference Popkomm;
- communities such as Music Gorilla and Indie-Music;
- digital distributors BFM Digital and UK-based Kerascene Music;
- Canadian booking agency Paquin Entertainment Group;
to name a few. For more information on MusicDish newswires, visit http://musicdish.net/net/newswire/

MusicDish, LLC has been at the forefront of the digital music sector, publishing some of the industry’s leading music magazine, including MusicDish.com and Mi2N.com, as well as dynamic white label content solutions. MusicDish also offers artist development and label management support, combining saturated online marketing with business networking and consulting.
http://www.musicdish.net

While the digital music revolution rages on, some simple truths remain; no one can steal a live show, download a band, or torrent the experience of being front row at the best show in town. Live concerts connect the fans with the bands and TiBconcerts is the matchmaker. TiBConcerts is the largest online concert listing service for both mainstream shows and independent artists and music. We reach millions concert fans every month due to our extensive and up to date index of local/regional concerts and distribution partners. We make it easy (and free) for local bands to submit their own listings. Our mission is two fold; to help local bands increase their online exposure and go beyond their immediate neighbourhood; and to expose fans to independent local talent.

Network to present special concert event in full 1080i HD and 5.1 surround sound

(DALLAS) Broad General Director Plácido Domingo will take the LA Opera into homes throughout the United States as HDNet presents The Plácido Domingo 40th Anniversary Gala Concert on Sunday, June 1 at 8:00pm (eastern daylight time) with an encore presentation at 11:00pm ET to accommodate West Coast prime time. The concert celebrates the fortieth anniversary of the superstar tenor’s first professional appearances in Los Angeles and features arias and duets sung by Mr. Domingo and the internationally acclaimed soprano Patricia Racette. The concert is led by LA Opera Music Director James Conlon, conducting the LA Opera Orchestra.

“Opera is an art form for everyone, and HDNet is helping us to capture this experience for music lovers throughout the United States,” said Mr. Domingo. “Long before television existed, opera was the popular form of entertainment bringing theatre to the masses, so it’s exciting and ironic that we now can use television to bring opera music back to the public.”

“This is an exciting new development for LA Opera and an important continuation of our commitment to bringing opera to all audiences,” said LA Opera’s Chairman and CEO, Marc I. Stern. “The special HDNet presentation, combined with this season’s Great Performances telecast of our production of Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, our recent DVD releases of both Mahagonny and our production of La Traviata, as well as the coming second season of our ‘LA Opera on Air’ broadcasts locally on KUSC and nationally and internationally on WFMT and XM Satellite Radio, truly enable the Company to reach out to a large and enthusiastic audience around the world.”

“The Plácido Domingo 40th Anniversary Gala is a perfect addition to the outstanding programming that HDNet has to offer,” added Mark Cuban, President and Co-Founder of HDNet. “Plus, our presentation of this concert in full 1080i high definition and 5.1 surround sound will let our viewers feel as if they are actually in the audience instead of in their own homes.”
