The next Round Our Gaf is on Saturday June 14th, 2008 and it's going to be rammo - again! Resident DJs and RoG promoters The Ladies of the Manor will spin a delectable mix of rocking, sleazy and noisy Electro, Punk and Indie schmindie amongst the most exciting RoG lineup yet:
Grovesnor (live)
Former Hot Chip drummer Rob Smoughton's unashamedly fun lo-fi electro is a mashup of c-1970s Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen, and 60s psychedlics ala Silver Apples, and has been aptly described as "sex on legs". Expect no less from his live set - Rob's been known to appear onstage in a cloak and a fright mask, and as Bearded magazine put it, he "makes Barry White sound like the Teletubbies and drives the ladies wild." www.myspace.com/grovesnormusic
Ed Seed from The Mules (live)
Having spent eons holed up in a filthy east end studio working on the followup to The Mules' acclaimed debut album "Save Your Face", frontman and drummer Ed Seed will rock up to our gaff with his guitar for a special solo set. Don't be fooled by the stripped-down lineup though; expect an alternate-reality take on The Mules' frenetic cowboy cabaret-punk with serious chops. Ed promises, "This isn't singer-songwriter shit, I have no feelings." www.myspace.com/itsthemules
Mic-Man GR SoundSystem (Greco Roman Dj Set)
Ross Allen joins the grand purveyors of the sporadic, chaotic and anarchic parties, so underground you hear about them only after they've happened (but you still tell your friends you were there) when step up to the Round Our Gaff decks for a set of mad electicism - Hot Chip vs Ross Allen, Grovesnor vs David E Sugar, Raf Daddy vs Alex Uber Alles, Dom vs Jez, London vs Berlin, Rock n Roll vs Acid House. They're doing the first DJ slot, so get there early! www.myspace.com/grecoromanmusic
About the club...
Round Our Gaf's rammed-to-the-rafters knees-up at The Enterprise has been delivering a monthly kick in the arse to Camden's Saturday nights since autumn 2007.
Joining forces as The Ladies Of The Manor of this punk rock institution, the promoters - Katie Dunne (Domino Records/Camden Crawl 2007 Event Manager), Leslie Gilotti (media maestro to The Horrors, Reverend and the Makers) and Heledd Williams (fashion events promoter) have come up with a night of messy, raucous, unadulterated fun...with more than a hint of glamour thrown in.
"Upstairs at the Enterprise is stuffed to the gills, and four blokes are crammed onto the bijou stage, the energy they fill a room with makes people their bitches, spilt pints or no.... More please!" - Drowned In Sound
Each month, your hostesses handpick an eclectic line-up of up-n-coming and already-there artists who take to the stage and decks to woo a heaving room of North London partygoers. The music policy is "there is no music policy" - if it makes you jump, expect to hear it.
Past guests include The Rakes, Friendly Fires, Scanners, The Ghost Frequency, Dead Kids, The Nuns, Yeti, The Barker Band, Paris Trading, Olympians, The Gin Riots, Electric Aristocracy and Tits of Death.
