Country singer Eric Church wins fishing tournament

In his new single “Love Your Love The Most,” Eric Church sings about fishing - but on Tuesday he proved that he’s more than just talk.
Eric Church and his fishing partners, ESPN's NASCAR correspondent Marty Smith and champion marksman Bill McGuire, won this year's top prize at the Porter Wagoner Memorial Artists & Anglers Fishing Tournament at Percy Priest Lake on Tuesday, June 9th with the team pulling in a whopping 18.43 pounds of bass.
Referencing the line “smallmouth bass have got me hooked” from his current hit, Church laughed, “In just this one instance I’ll allow for a lyric change to 'largemouth bass have got me hooked.' Or maybe we could just say that, right now, I love the whole species.”
With his relaxing (though productive) day on the lake behind him, Church prepares to perform five times in four days, with a performance on the CMA’s Chevy stage Wednesday evening, a mid-afternoon set on the CMA’s Riverfront Stages on Friday June 12, 2009, and three late-night (and sold out!) shows at the Rutledge on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
