Platinum-selling British rock outfit The Wombats are poised for a triumphant return to American shores with brand new single "Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)."

Produced by Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Good Charlotte, The All-American Rejects), the song received an exclusive world premiere from influential BBC Radio1's Zane Lowe, where it was named the "Hottest Record In The World".
Since then, the song has reached the Top 20 in the UK and is The Wombats' highest charting single to date in Australia, Germany and Holland.

"Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)" is the first glimpse of The Wombat's evolving musical progression for their forthcoming sophomore album (Bright Antenna/Warner), sure to be one of the most exciting releases in 2011.
While their signature punk-rock hooks and inimitable charm are firmly in place, The Wombats have introduced aggressive dance elements and a darker lyrical approach to their infectious alt-pop. "Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)" offers sweeping synths, a driving bass line and propulsive beats set against an exuberant chorus that speaks to the band's immediately familiar songwriting. It's no surprise that this dancefloor smash hit has been so quickly embraced overseas, with America sure to follow suit.
The Wombats are currently putting the finishing touches on their upcoming second album in the NRG Recording Studios in Los Angeles. Along with Eric Valentine, the album will feature additional production prowess from super-producers Jacknife Lee (U2, Snow Patrol, R.E.M.), Butch Walker (Fall Out Boy, The Donnas, Weezer) and Rich Costey (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party).
Renowned as one of Britain's most incendiary live bands, The Wombats toured relentlessly after the release of their critically acclaimed 2007 debut The Wombats Proudly Present… A Guide To Love, Loss and Desperation, playing to more than 1 million people. They became a staple of the UK festival circuit and completed two huge sold-out UK tours, which included a show at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall and a massive 10,000-capacity homecoming show in Liverpool.
They recently announced a full UK/Ireland tour slated for January 2011, their first since 2008.
