Italian rock noir band Belladonna collaborates with international composer, film maker, and music legend Michael Nyman on the track "Let There Be Light".
Taken from the wonderful 'The Heart Asks For Pleasure First' - soundtrack of the masterpiece movie "The Piano" - "Let There Be Light" pits the musical vision and the sublime piano playing of Michael Nyman against the sensual and mysterious alt-rock of Italian band Belladonna and the passionate, biting voice of Luana, the band's singer.

In the Internet era when anything can seemingly happen, a young italian band invites - through Facebook - a great of music like Michael Nyman to its London concert and not only does he show up, but he also falls in love with the band and starts an artistic collaboration.
And a year later "Let There Be Light" sees the light, with Nyman himself playing the piano: a highly emotional song and a noir tale (with surprise ending) that raises questions about retributive self-justice and about the injustices perpetrated by the Tyrants that wrote the most tragic and dark pages of History, from Hitler to Bin Laden, both name-checked in the song's lyrics.
"Nyman is a living legend and the fact that he decided to work with a self-produced band is wonderful proof of his intellectual greatness and of his absolutely pure love for music making." - Dani (Belladonna)
"The Piano theme is one of the most loved pieces in the history of music and the moment that Michael Nyman told us he was thrilled of our take on it in "Let There Be Light" will forever glow in our hearts as one of the brightest highlights of our lives." - Luana (Belladonna)
ARTIST INFO:
Belladonna's legendary self-produced debut 'Metaphysical Attraction' resounded so deeply in rock fans' collective consciousness that it not only turned the band almost overnight into one of the most loved unsigned bands in the world, but it even bestowed upon them the honor of 2 Grammy Awards, an unprecedented event for a DIY band.
Over 1.000.000 views on MySpace, magazines like Rolling Stone, Glamour and GQ hailing them as the "next big thing", gigs with major acts like Nine Inch Nails and Siouxsie & the Banshees, performances at the Dubai International Film Festival - but Belladonna remained unfazed.
The Noir album:
Personally invited by alt-rock producer supreme Sylvia Massy (Tool, System of a Down) to record their sophomore album in her all-analog studio in California, USA, in a few weeks of incendiary sessions Belladonna committed to tape 11 rock noir Luana/Dani-penned songs, loaded with their trademark sheer sensual energy.
'The Noir Album' came out in March 2009, immediately entering the Italian iTunes chart and getting rave reviews all over the world. Back in Italy, the band played as Special Guests to major acts like Nine Inch Nails, The Mars Volta, Staind, Duff McKagan's Loaded and Korn, on the strength of the first single "Till Death Do Us Part" - being chosen as Single Of The Week by Italy's biggest rock radio, Virgin Radio.
In October they went back to L.A. to play a showcase at the Fonda Theater, and then to the UK - where Iron Maiden superstar Bruce Dickinson championed Belladonna by broadcasting "Till Death Do Us Part" on his BBC radio show - with a sold-out headline show at The Garage in London.
2010 saw the band hit the road again, with a European tour in March and a UK club tour in April and in July.
The Third Album:
In August Belladonna started pre-production on their third, as-yet-unnamed album, to be recorded in November in L.A. with Grammy-nominated producer Alex Elena and of Metallica's 'The Black Album' engineer Mike Tacci.
