Anna Calvi To Make North American Live Debut
The hum of excitement surrounding Anna Calvi's self-titled debut album has created something of a ripple effect across Europe.
Already gracing magazine covers in France and having garnered elusive 4 star reviews from British music bibles Mojo and Uncut, Anna Calvi looks certain to be one of the year's breakout stars.

The young Londoner was chosen by the BBC for their prestigious Sound Of 2011 list and kicked off January with an early rave from Spin Magazine on their "Best New Artists" list.
The album will be released stateside on March 1st via Domino Records. March is also the magic month which will see Anna cross the ocean to play her first ever North American shows, including a stop at this year's South By South West.
Co-produced by Rob Ellis and recorded in London and France, Anna Calvi is a beguiling and astonishingly confident record; the unique strengths of her songwriting, singing and guitar playing all jumping out of the speaker at once. Haunted by the timeless sounds of Nina Simone and Maria Callas, as well as the classical romanticism of Ravel and Debussy, and the rock innovations of Jimi Hendrix and Captain Beefheart, the record is both mysterious and decadent, nostalgic and forward thinking.
Anna's intimate backing band consists of Mally Harpaz on guitar, harmonium and percussion, and Daniel Maiden-Wood on drums.
Having recently completed a tour of Europe opening for Grinderman (at the personal request of Nick Cave, surely a kindred spirit) and UK shows with Interpol, Anna's striking live performances are not to be missed.
