Tea Leaf Green also recently headed back into the studio to begin work on a new album, the band's ninth to date. The as-yet-untitled studio album is tentatively set for a late spring release date.
The band is set to play Friday, February 11, 2011 at Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA.
TLG's previous studio album, Looking West, came out in June of 2010 and was the band's first since 2008. Looking West was a compilation of road-tested, fan-favorite songs that TLG had never gotten around to recording in the studio. The decision to record these cherished songs marked a new chapter for the band.
In the past few years, TLG has overcome more than its share of adversity, including a line-up change (current bass player Reed Mathis joined in 2008), as well as a split with their record label. The hardships endured by the band have only made them stronger and the new studio album is a shaping up to be a perfect representation of how far they have come.
Sharing some of the style and substance of musical contemporaries My Morning Jacket and The Raconteurs, TLG conjures the spirit of artists such as 1970s-era Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and The Grateful Dead. The band takes classic sounds and gives them a present-day polish. TLG reminds us at every turn just how alluring rock and roll can be.
