Doug Ferony - American Pop Classics

Doug Ferony is from the same school of singers that produced the talents from whom he took his performing lead: Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Bobby Darin. He is comfortable with a repertoire of tried and true standards & traditional pop, bringing to these warhorses some fresh ideas.

His initial self-produced album, This One’s for You, was released in 1996 and confirmed that Ferony is equally at ease in both a big band and small group setting. It was his love for big band music that pushed him into a singing career. Ferony has also hooked up on a couple of occasions with fine singer, arranger, and pianist Dena de Rose. In addition to appearing on This One’s for You, she was Ferony’s sole backing on one of his finest albums, Time After Time.

In addition to his studio work, Ferony has worked the hotel, concert, and nightclub circuit, including appearances at New York’s Tavern on the Green and casinos in both Atlantic City and Las Vegas. He opened the 1997 U.S. Open Tennis championships with the “Star Spangled Banner.” Ferony is a member of good standing of the Screen Actors Guild and has appeared in such TV shows and movies as Goodfellas, Back to School, You’ve Got Mail, Law & Order, and HBO’’s OZ.

When he’s not on-stage or appearing in a studio (TV, film, or recording), Ferony enjoys sitting back and listening to his influences, such as Rosemary Clooney, the Buddy Rich Band, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Diana Krall.

Doug’s new album release Time After Time is a CD comprised of torch songs, music about the loss of love and romance. It is a piano duet with Dena DeRose. Standout songs are “Wee Small Hours of the Morning”, “Time After Time”, “You Go To My Head”, and “I Fall In Love Too Easily” (a vocal duet with Dena DeRose).

Doug’s previous CDs have been a mix of big-band swing arrangements, jazz trio, and rockin’ songs. This CD is a mood- setter for reflection and relaxation. Doug decided to record this project just after his wife’s passing from a brain tumor.

Doug’s CDs are on sale through Amazon.com, and are also available by credit card on this website. The title track Doug wrote and performed for his CD I’m In Love With A Girl can be heard on the movie sound track Mr. Vincent. “Kansas City”, which Doug covered on the same album, made the Top 40 charts in the Kansas City area. Doug has also had national radio airplay with his CD This Ones For You. “The Rockin’ Blue Suede Shoes”, “Paper Moon”, “Always On My Mind”, and a new arrangement of “The Summerwind” are favorites. It is the CD made up of swing and jazz trio arrangements.

Some of Doug’s performances include runs at the Chestnut Room of New York City’s Tavern On the Green, The Supper Club, (on West 47th St,. between Broadway & 8th Ave.), the World Trade Center’s Marriot Hotel, the C-Note Jazz Club, The Arthur Ashe US Open, and on the Las Vegas Strip at the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino.

For a terrific evening of music, come on out and catch singer Doug Ferony.
