CMT Premieres Kiefer Sutherland’s “Not Enough Whiskey”

Kiefer Sutherland

Tickets On Sale for Sutherland’s Nationwide Tour, Kicks Off April 14, 2016

“Not Enough Whiskey” Available Now on iTunes

Kiefer Sutherland pours out a healthy shot of heartache in the exclusive broadcast premiere of “Not Enough Whiskey” on CMT, CMT MUSIC (formerly CMT Pure) and CMT.com.

“Kiefer keeps it raw and reflective with his distinctive voice and the narrative of this cinematic video. And it’s just a great country song,” said Leslie Fram, CMT Senior VP of Music Strategy.

“Not Enough Whiskey,” available now through digital retailers, is from Sutherland’s upcoming album, Down In A Hole, set for release this summer. Sutherland, who co-wrote every song on the upcoming 11-track album with producer Jude Cole, including “Not Enough Whiskey,” will play more than 30 venues nationwide when his tour kicks off April 14, 2016 in Milwaukee, Wis.

Critics are already raving about Sutherland’s debut track:

“Kiefer shows off his rough-hewn vocals and a twangy, steel-guitar loving sound, along with a storyline that laments the problems whiskey just can’t fix.” – Chris Parton, Country Weekly

“Its lyrics are simple and somber, with just the right dose of heartbreak thanks to his distinctive, gravelly baritone.” – Amy McCarthy, TheBoot

Sutherland, known for his starring role on the Fox series “24,” also starred in movies like ‘Stand By Me’, ‘The Lost Boys’, ‘Young Guns’, ‘Flatliners’, ‘A Few Good Men’, ‘A Time to Kill’, ‘Dark City’, ‘Melancholia’ and most recently, a western called ‘Forsaken’ and the upcoming ABC series “Designated Survivor.”

The Dandy Warhols release new video featuring Joe Dallesandro

The Dandy Warhols

The Dandy Warhols release new video “You Are Killing Me” featuring Andy Warhol superstar Joe Dallesandro

New album ‘Distortland’ out April 8, 2016 on Dine Alone Records

“Still looking dandy after all these years.”Mojo

“Several steps ahead of being the last swingers in town.”Q

“Distortland is one of those rare beasts that doesn’t have a single duff track on it.”Disc of the Day / The Arts Desk

The Dandy Warhols are excited to share a video for their single, You Are Killing Me starring Joe Dallesandro, who is best known for his well known roles in Andy Warhol films. Dallesandro, who also graced the cover of Rolling Stone in 1971, has rarely appeared on camera in the last 20 years making his involvement all the more exciting.

The video was directed by Mark Helfrich who notes:

“The concept for the video came out of Courtney’s desire to have a film featuring not only Joe Dallesandro, but furries as well. I thought Joe had the perfect look for a Film Noir setting so I came up with a trippy treatment and everybody signed off on it. The day before shooting, I got a message that Zia was flying to Los Angeles because she wanted to be the Bunny! So Zia’s the Bunny. I was thrilled to work with the iconic Joe Dallesandro. He hasn’t acted much in the past couple of decades, but he wanted to do this project because he digs the Dandy Warhols. It was an honor to direct him.”

The Dandy Warhols release their new album Distortland Friday 8th April 2016 on Dine Alone Records. Hear it today streaming at The Independent and pre-order the album from iTunes, Spotify and all digital retailers.

West of the Sun to release “Siberian Hysteria” single

West of the Sun

“Psychedelic synth-touch making it impossible not to hit repeat”Gigslutz

“Brilliant tunes – right up my street”Nick Power, The Coral

North London based band West Of The Sun return with a new single “Siberian Hysteria” to be released on the 6th May 2016 via Phoney War Records.

Self-produced by West Of The Sun and recorded at the famous Hackney Road Studios by renowned engineer Shuta Shinoda whose back catalogue of work features legendary artists Hot Chip, Primal Scream, Spiritualised, The Horrors and Vampire Weekend. Mastering was handled by industry favourite Noel Summerville (Pink Floyd, The White Stripes) who helps form the single’s rich sound – ringing echoes of The Doors, Stone Roses, early Kasabian and even The Chemical Brothers.

Psychedelic rock and roll five piece who, having formed in 2013, have to-date self-released 2 EP’s ‘Fountains Of Fire’ and ‘Scatterbrains’, and have now recorded and produced their debut full album set for release later this year. West of the Sun have played support slots with bands such as The Merrylees, Detroit Social Club, Twisted Wheel and Kassassin Street. With sell-out appearances at London’s illustrious venues 100 Club and Bush Hall, and two appearances at Camden Rocks Festival under their belt, the band are set to return in the Spring to tour across the UK – having so far confirmed headline shows at the O2 Islington and Borderline in London and The Zanzibar in Liverpool.

Frontmen Luke Ward and Joe Stratton both hailing from the north of England and singing in their natural accents, provide a kaleidoscopic galloping swagger to the band’s delicately-arranged, often neurotic, compositions. Fusing elements of psychedelia, baroque, spaghetti westerns, trip-hop beats and conventional guitar-laden rock and roll, they have themselves referred to their sound as coming from the ‘big beat manifesto’, and the result is a sound that falls somewhere between Echo & The Bunnymen and Django Django.

“Siberian Hysteria” is dreamy psychedelia, conjoined between the blissed-out and the bludgeoning. Beginning with flashes of Primal Scream the track takes many turns, quickly shifting through rhythmic marches paying homage to the likes of Kasabian, while the vocals are delivered with the eerie sentiments of The Coral and The Doors.

Guitarist and co-songwriter Michael Howes explained the process of creating “Siberian Hysteria”:

“We jammed around with this song for a while and had the verses, but it was working more as a loop rather than a ‘song’… One day I started messing around with that guitar hook and it began to manifest itself into something catchy. It led us for some bizarre reason to start hearing a ravey sort of intro with loads of synths and hi-hats going on. Kind of intense and chaotic. So we gave it a go and I think the magic happened when we stuck the two together! It really takes a different tangent once it breaks into that Stoogesy glam rock stomp, and we’re quite proud of that. We wanted it to sound like Fatboy Slim mixing a BRMC track.”

Upcoming dates:
7th May 2016 – The Borderline, London

Biffy Clyro to release new album Ellipsis [Watch Trailer]

Biffy Clyro

Biffy Clyro follow 2013’s critically acclaimed U.K. #1 double-album Opposites with their seventh studio album Ellipsis which will be released on July 8, 2016 on Warner Bros. Records / 14th Floor Recordings.

Pre-orders for the album are now open with the first single “Wolves of Winter” now streaming and available as an instant grat track.

Watch the “Wolves of Winter” trailer:

As is tradition, writing sessions for the album saw Biffy Clyro -Simon Neil (vocals/guitar) and the Johnston brothers James (bass) and Ben (drums) working in the intimate environment of their practice room. They then headed to Los Angeles for recording sessions with producer Rich Coste (Muse, My Chemical Romance, Sigur Ros).

Citing influences as diverse as Tears For Fears’ Songs From The Big Chair album, DJ Arca and Deafheaven, Simon Neil has described Ellipsis as “more of a punch to the nose than a big cuddle.” Lyrically, the album’s songs tackle personal issues with the idea of “fighting back” a recurring theme.

Such themes are also apparent in the album’s visceral first single “Wolves of Winter” which captures Biffy Clyro’s famous blend of angular riffs, pummelling rhythms and strident hooks. Says Neil: “‘Wolves of Winter’ is about us being wolves on a patch and if you come onto that patch, we’ll tear you limb-from-limb.”

An Ellipsis (most commonly depicted as …) indicates a continuation: in this case, Biffy Clyro’s new body of work is an ongoing representation of everything that the band have stood for since first debuting in 2002 with the Blackened Sky album.

Ellipsis will be available digitally and on CD and vinyl editions.

Opposites saw Biffy Clyro flourish with their first U.K. #1 album and another U.K. Top 10 single with “Black Chandelier”. The band’s live shows soared to new heights with highlights including debut festival headline sets at Reading, Leeds, Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Isle of Wight and T in the Park; a triumphant sold-out UK arena tour; and extensive touring across six continents.
